Abstract

The war between Russia and Ukraine has affected many aspects of the international community. One of them is related to the security of the country, especially Sweden. Sweden, which felt that the intensity of the war was increasing, finally sought security protection by applying to join NATO. However, Sweden's path to join NATO was not easy because there was a rejection from Turkey regarding Sweden's support for an organization that Turkey considers a terrorist organization, namely the PKK. However, after Sweden fulfilled Turkey's demands regarding Turkey's unrest, Turkey finally approved Sweden's application to join NATO. Based on this, this research is conducted to see what factors influence Turkey's policy change towards Sweden's application to join NATO. This research uses K.J Holsti's theory of foreign policy change and uses a qualitative descriptive method. The results of the study show that there are several factors that influence Turkey's foreign policy changes, these factors are divided into domestic factors and also external factors. Apart from these factors, how President Erdogan's view in responding to Sweden's request is also one thing that can strengthen the factors above.

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that does not hesitate to accept and provide treatment for refugees and asylum seekers who come from various countries, including the very large number of migrants from Afghanistan. This policy was implemented by the Indonesian government even though Indonesia has no legal obligation, still has domestic problems, and the assistance provided by IOM to deal with refugees is getting smaller. Through this research, the author will analyze the background of the Indonesian government's policy to receive and provide treatment for refugees and asylum seekers from Afghanistan. In analyzing this issue, the author will use the perspective of cosmopolitanism with data analysis techniques using the congruent method. The results show that Indonesia accepts and provides treatment for refugees and asylum seekers from Afghanistan because Indonesia wants to fight for the rights of all migrants from Afghanistan because all human beings are part of one humanitarian community regardless of their affiliation.

Abstract

Money laundering through the football sector according to the FATF report can be present through several channels, one of which is betting activities that in practice has a close connection with match-fixing. The linkages between the two is carrying a complex and broad dimension. This is not separated from the role of Singaporean criminal organizations that involved in many cases throughout the world. In responding to this, Singapore took two crucial policies as a handling effort after previously not recognizing that its country was the base of the perpetrators of betting activities and match-fixing. This research aims to describe and analyze the influence of the FATF Recommendation which is understood as the AML / CFT regime towards Singapore in handling related cases. The conceptual framework used is the concept of an international regime from Krasner (1983) and Barkin (2006) by using a rationalist approach that has a focus of discussion on the regulative effects of a regime in influencing a country's attitude or behavior. This study shows that changes in attitude through a policy adopted by Singapore in handling betting activities and match-fixing as an influence of the process of "accepting" and "complying" with FATF recommendations.

Abstract

On March 2018, Germany halted arms export temporarily to Saudi Arabia concerning Saudi Arabia’s involvement in Yemeni Civil War. Then on October to November 2018, as a response to the assasination of a journalist named Jamal Khashoggi, Germany stopped all arms export to Arab Saudi. Since Saudi Arabia is one of the biggest arms buyer in the world including for Germany, those actions subsequently caused a decrease in exports value in 2018 compared to 2017. Beside that, Germany also received lots of pressure from European Union countries includin United Kingdom and France. However, Germany decided to stand with their stance, even extended the sanction on March 2019. In analyzing the case, constructivism theory, more specifically, the concept of identity and norms will be used. German identities as a democratic and pacifist country, also human rights as an international norms will be used in this research. This research is an explanative type research, also a qualitative research using congruence analysis method with literature research as data collecting method. The results of this study indicate that only Germany’s identity as a pacifist country and human right norms are influential in the German policy making process.
