Abstract

This study was motivated by the transformation of the livelihoods of the Talang Mamak community in Talang Sungai Ekok Village due to the expansion of oil palm plantations and forest degradation. Previous research has generally focused on adaptation strategies and policies, while the community’s lived experiences and their potential as a source of contextual social studies learning have rarely been examined. This study aims to analyze changes in the livelihoods of the Talang Mamak community and to identify their potential as a source of social studies learning. The study employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Informants consist of village leaders, traditional leaders, and community members selected through snowball sampling until data saturation is reached. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation, using interview guidelines, observation sheets, and documentation notes as research instruments. Data analysis employed the Miles and Huberman interactive model, while data validity was ensured through triangulation. The results indicate that shifts in livelihoods occur dynamically due to environmental pressures and economic needs. Oil palm cultivation enhances income stability but also leads to environmental degradation and the erosion of local knowledge. These findings have the potential to serve as a source of contextual social studies learning that strengthens students’ understanding of social and environmental change.

Abstract

This study examines the role of material culture in preserving the multicultural identity of the Cirebonese through the lens of cultural materialism, emphasizing the influence of physical infrastructure on cultural values and how material culture objects are internalized into cultural memory to sustain a shared identity. Using qualitative methods, data collection involves observation, interviews, and documentation to identify objects representing multicultural values. The findings reveal that Cirebon's culture stems from its historical ethnic diversity, influenced by its geographical location as a coastal trade hub since the 14th century. The establishment of an Islamic kingdom in the 15th century further shaped society, merging pre-existing Hindu cultural elements with Islamic traditions and those of Chinese and Arab traders. Material culture, including architecture, places of worship, and art, reflects and reinforces this multicultural heritage. These elements serve as carriers of cultural memory, preserve multicultural values, and act as a "line of defense" in maintaining cultural identity on a global scale.

Abstract

University leadership is undergoing a significant transformation driven by digitalization, shifting from hierarchical, intuition-based decision-making toward collaborative, data-driven approaches. Despite this shift, many higher education institutions still face challenges in understanding and integrating these structural changes into their human resources (HR) management systems. This study aims to examine the role of ontological dimensions in enhancing HR management within a digital context. A mixed-method approach with a triangulation design was employed. Qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with top-level leaders at Universitas Catur Insan Cendekia (UCIC) Cirebon, while quantitative data consisted of 237 Lecturer Evaluation by Students (EDOM) responses. Data collection tools included semi-structured interview guidelines and EDOM datasets. Qualitative analysis used thematic analysis, while quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings reveal that ontological awareness strengthens leadership effectiveness through digital agility and the recognition of technology as a core organizational entity. The average HR performance score of 4.49 (on a 5-point scale) supports the practical relevance of Quality 4.0 principles. The study concludes that modern university leadership must transition toward data-integrated decision-making to ensure sustainable quality in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of PIK-R extracurricular activities in shaping students’ sense of responsibility at one of SMA Negeri in Tegal. It employs a qualitative approach with a case study design to examine how the value of responsibility is internalized, practiced, and manifested within the context of extracurricular activities. The research subjects consisted of four informants selected through purposive sampling, namely the advisor, the chairperson, and two active PIK-R members. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation and were analyzed using an interactive model. The results of the study indicate that the character of responsibility develops through an integrated process that includes the internalization of values, participation in organizational practices, behavioral manifestations, role modeling, and support from a structured program. The value of responsibility is formed through habituation, active involvement in tasks, and direct experiential learning, while role modeling by the advisor and the chairperson strengthens the process of value internalization. This study also identifies limitations in the aspects of evaluation and reflection, which are still not systematically implemented. These findings imply that the integration of structured reflection and evaluation mechanisms is essential to optimize character development outcomes. Practically, this study suggests that schools and extracurricular advisors should design more systematic reflective activities and assessment strategies to strengthen students’ responsibility character.

Abstract

Critical thinking is an essential skill that students must possess in order to keep pace with technological developments in the digital age. However, many students still have only limited critical thinking skills. This situation is influenced by various factors, such as knowledge of artificial intelligence and motivation to learn, which have not yet been sufficiently fostered in the learning process. The objective of this study is to analyze the influence of AI competencies and learning motivation on the critical thinking skills of business students at Nusa Cendana. The study employs a quantitative method, specifically multiple linear regression. The study sample consisted of 210 respondents, determined using the Solvin formula. Data collection was conducted by distributing a questionnaire whose validity and reliability had been previously tested. The study results show that AI competencies have a positive and significant influence on students’ critical thinking skills (p < 0.05), as does learning motivation, which also has a positive and significant influence (p < 0.05). At the same time, these two variables significantly influence critical thinking skills and explain 73.3% of the variance, while the remaining 26.7% is unexplained.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of citizens' expressions and participation in the digital public sphere, as well as to uncover public opinion anomalies on a state official's policy post. The research subjects were netizens' comments on the "Digital Era Education Development Strategy" video on Vice President @gibran_rakabuming's TikTok account. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied through the computer-assisted qualitative data analysis (CAQDAS) method. The entire population of 1,353 comments was collected without sampling limitations (total sampling). Data collection was conducted from the time the post was uploaded on May 2, 2025, until April 21, 2026, using a web scraping technique via Apify. The data were then analyzed using NVivo software, encompassing sentiment analysis and lexical extraction (word cloud and word tree). The results reveal a paradoxical reality. Quantitatively, positive sentiments dominated with an 8:3 ratio. However, the qualitative lexical analysis was predominantly filled with harsh words, personal attacks (toxic disinhibition), and repetitive sentence templates. This paradox proves the occurrence of public space manipulation by cyber troops (buzzers) to manufacture fake public consent, while organic citizen criticisms were filled with emotional aggression. This phenomenon confirms a digital civility crisis. Therefore, it is recommended that the government stop opinion manipulation practices to build authentic public trust, educational institutions reorient digital literacy curricula towards digital citizenship ethics, and platforms strengthen algorithmic transparency to crack down on coordinated inauthentic behavior.

Abstract

DFL is an important understanding and skill that Gen Z must have in order to manage finances regularly and make rational purchases. However, the FOMO attitude can influence consumption decisions and encourage irrational purchases. This study aims to analyze the influence of DFL and FOMO on Gen Z's consumptive behavior, including the moderating effect of FOMO on the relationship between the two. The method used in this study is a quantitative method, with primary and secondary data sources. Consisting of 378 respondent samples determined using the Isaac and Michael formula. Data collection through distributing questionnaires tested through validity and reliability. The results show that the higher the DFL possessed by students, the higher the consumptive behavior in online shopping. Among high school students, the influence of FOMO attitudes increases consumptive behavior among Gen Z’s, the influence of DFL, which is moderated by FOMO attitudes, cannot moderate the influence of DFL on consumer behavior among high Gen Z’s. These findings imply the importance of the ability to manage DFL and self-control to carry out rational purchasing activities.

Abstract

MSMEs, or micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, are crucial to Indonesia's economy and employment creation. As digital technology improves quickly, MSME players are urged to utilize marketplaces to expand their client base and boost sales. The impact of profit expectations, marketplace usage, and the implementation of Islamic business principles on MSME sales performance in Medan is examined in this study using a quantitative methodology. A Likert-scale Data was gathered from 100 respondents using a questionnaire. who were chosen at random from a population of 38,343 MSMEs registered in SIMDAKOP. The findings demonstrate that marketplace usage, profit expectations, and Islamic business ethics all positively impact sales and collectively account for 73.2% of the variance in sales performance. MSMEs are encouraged to increase marketplace usage and continuously implement Islamic business practices in order to boost competitiveness and business sustainability; this will increase the likelihood that profit expectations will result in larger sales.

Abstract

Critical thinking is a crucial skill required in 21st-century learning, particularly in economics. Students are expected to analyze problems, analyze information, and make informed choices. Many students still demonstrate inadequate levels of critical thinking due to limited self-control during learning, inefficient use of digital learning resources, and an unsupportive learning environment. Previous studies have generally examined these elements individually, yet research examining the combined impact of self-regulation, YouTube teaching resources, and the learning environment on students' critical reasoning in economics is limited. Therefore, this study seeks to examine the partial and overall impact of self-regulation, YouTube usage, and the learning environment on students' critical thinking skills in economics. This study employed a quantitative method with an exploratory research design. The population comprised all eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tengaran, while the sample was drawn through proportional random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale instrument. Before processing the data, the measurement tools were tested for validity and reliability. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis to determine the relationships between variables. Research shows that self-regulation during learning, YouTube usage, and the learning environment, both partially and simultaneously, have a positive impact on students' critical thinking skills in economics. Therefore, educators and institutions are encouraged to design creative learning tactics that encourage independent learning, maximize the use of digital resources, and foster a cooperative and reflective learning environment to enhance students' critical thinking skills.
