Abstract

This research is based on the reality that character education in Islamic education textbooks remains inadequate, even though character education is crucial in shaping students with noble character and the ability to face moral challenges in the modern era. Character, as part of affective competence, must be taught clearly and consistently, just as cognitive and psychomotor competencies, to achieve balance in forming a complete and ideal personality. This study was conducted on Islamic Education textbooks for 11th grade used in schools across Indonesia, published by the Ministry of Education, Erlangga, Grafindo, and Tiga Serangkai. Using a qualitative approach, these textbooks were analyzed through content analysis to identify the extent to which character education values are integrated into them. The results show that all textbooks used as subjects in this study have not fully integrated character education optimally. Character education must be implemented by considering appropriate objectives, materials, methods, media, and evaluation. Keywords: Character Education, Affective Domain, Learning Components.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing the Manhaji Method in improving the ability to read Kitab Kuning (classical Islamic texts) at Darun Nuhat Islamic Boarding School, Petiyin-Solokuro, Lamongan. Kitab Kuning serves as the primary literature in pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) but often poses challenges for students due to limited understanding of Nahwu (Arabic grammar) and Sharaf (morphology). The Manhaji Method, systematically designed, offers a practical approach to studying Kitab Kuning through structured, tiered learning from basic to advanced levels. This research employs a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, document studies, and reading ability tests. Data were collected from various sources such as pesantren leaders, teachers, and students through interviews and direct observation of the learning process. The study's results show that the implementation of the Manhaji Method significantly enhances students' understanding of Kitab Kuning, particularly in the aspects of Nahwu and Sharaf. Students demonstrated improved abilities in recognizing sentence structures, understanding word transformations, and applying grammatical rules effectively. This success is supported by competent teachers employing simple and systematic approaches, a well-structured, tiered curriculum from basic to advanced levels, and a conducive learning environment. The pesantren atmosphere, adequate facilities, and the collective enthusiasm of students created an optimal learning ecosystem. The efficiency of the Manhaji Method also increased students’ motivation through a structured and practical tiered learning process. This study recommends that the Manhaji Method be more widely adopted in other pesantren while considering local contexts. A broader application of this method is expected to support sustainable pesantren education, improve the quality of Kitab Kuning instruction, and strengthen the Islamic scholarly tradition in various educational institutions. Keywords: Manhaji Method; Kitab Kuning; Pesantren; Nahwu; Sharaf.

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of the family's role in preventing religious radicalism and promoting religious moderation through digital religious literacy. The research aims to explore the level of family digital literacy among Muslims in Cirebon and its role in strengthening family resilience as a key element in addressing potential radical challenges. Using a mixed-methods approach with questionnaire surveys and interviews, the study reveals that religious conflicts in Indonesia, particularly in Cirebon, stem from factors like low religious literacy among millennials, driven by a lack of interest in reading and a limited understanding of religious teachings. Technology and social media exacerbate these conflicts, involving violations of religious freedom, intolerance, and blasphemy, persisting despite regulations and threatening multicultural harmony. Family resilience, encompassing economic, psychosocial, and socio-cultural aspects, plays a crucial role in countering religious radicalism. As the smallest social institution, the family transmits values, with economic resilience preventing the infiltration of radical ideas. Empowering families as moderation agents is vital, and strategies for enhancing family digital literacy, including education and awareness campaigns, monitoring online activities, promoting quality information sources, developing critical thinking skills, and using content filters, contribute to building resilience against radical influences. The study's results are expected to enrich academic literature by applying the concept of family resilience, specifically in preventing radicalism and promoting religious moderation. The findings strive for a direct impact on practical efforts to prevent radicalism, contributing to the formation of an inclusive and moderate society. Keywords: Family Resilience, Digital Religious Literacy, Religious Moderation

Abstract

Since its inception, Islamic boarding school education has had distinctive characteristics and continues to maintain its existence even when facing the dynamics of life in this modern era. Without changing its characteristics, which are always identified with the priority of religious, cultural, and social values in its education system, Islamic boarding schools carry out transformations in various fields, including instilling religious character in their students. This holistic education system can ultimately give birth to a generation of students or students who have figures who have morals or good character. One of the Islamic boarding schools that still applies this system is the Tarbiyatussalafiyah Islamic boarding school Tegalsiwalan Probolinggo. This research is aimed at finding out the process of applying Imam Ghazali's theological thinking in shaping the character of students at the Tarbiyatussalafiyah Islamic Boarding School. The approach taken in this research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study type of research. The data sources obtained by researchers were primary sources in the form of information from Islamic boarding school leaders, ustadz, administrators, and students. The research results obtained by researchers in the field in the form of character formation material include: Religious knowledge, physical education, and spirituality. Meanwhile, the implementation process carried out by caregivers, ustadz, and administrators of the Tarbiyatussalafiyah Islamic boarding school in forming the character of the students is by applying three methods, namely the exemplary method, the habituation method, and instilling character values including (1) Performing congregational prayers, (2) Instilling an honest attitude, (3) Discipline, (4) Politeness, (5) Patience, (6) Tolerance. Keywords: Internalization, al-Ghazali, Santri Character, Ayyuhal Walad.

Abstract

Elementary school students' understanding of Islamic Religious Education is often hindered by the lack of relevance between teaching materials and everyday life. This research aims to develop teaching materials based on the local wisdom of the Cigugur community as an innovative approach to enhance students' understanding of Islamic Religious Education content. The research method used is research and development (R&D) with the Borg and Gall model. The study involved 80 students as the experimental group and 50 students as the control group from several elementary schools in Cigugur District. Data collection techniques included questionnaires, comprehension tests, and observations of the learning process, while data analysis was conducted using t-tests and N-gain calculations. The results of the study indicate that teaching materials based on Cigugur's local wisdom effectively improve students' understanding compared to conventional methods. The integration of local cultural values into Islamic Religious Education makes the material more contextual, relevant, and engaging, while fostering students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, this approach contributes to the preservation of local culture, builds students' appreciation for regional traditions, and encourages active engagement in the learning process. This study provides an innovative model for developing teaching materials based on local wisdom in various regions as a solution to improving the quality of education in Indonesia. Keywords: Islamic Religious Education, teaching materials, local wisdom, students' understanding

Abstract

The goal of this research is to examine the effects of single-sex education management on the empowerment of teenagers, focusing on both academic and non-academic outcomes. Research approach using qualitative case study type. Data collection in this study will be carried out using three primary methods: observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses Miles and Huberman. The Finding of this research shows that gender-segregation education or single-sex schools management make students feel freer to explore their interests and talents without the social pressure of gender stereotypes. Students focus more on education without the distractions of gender biases often present in co-educational settings. The novelty of this research lies to update perspectives on single-sex education management and how it can contribute to character development and academic achievement. The theory of gender differences in educational management contexts is also enriched by these findings, challenging traditional assumptions that co-education is more effective. Class management with two sections of men and women, a curriculum development system, and the division of tasks for administrators are managed effectively and efficiently by the head. The study provides new insights into the different learning experiences of male and female students and opens the door to developing more gender-specific teaching methods. Keywords: Education, Gender-Segregation, School Management,Teenagers

Abstract

This study examines the dialectic between Islam and Kejawen and Sunda Wiwitan culture, which is reflected in the lives of the Jalawastu indigenous people in Brebes and Bonokeling in Banyumas. Using a phenomenological approach, this study seeks to understand how the interaction and integration of Islamic values with local traditions shape the cultural identity of the community. This study uses a phenomenological approach. The results of the study indicate that this dialectic process involves adaptation, acculturation, and negotiation of values that occur dynamically. In the context of Jalawastu and Bonokeling, Kejawen and Sunda Wiwitan cultures are not completely replaced by Islamic teachings, but instead form a complementary harmony. Traditional rituals, religious symbols, and social structures of society become the main spaces where Islam and local cultures interact with each other. This study emphasizes the importance of respecting cultural diversity in Islam and the role of religion as a medium of reconciliation that strengthens social cohesion in indigenous communities. This study also contributes to cross-cultural and religious understanding, which is relevant in the context of Indonesia as a multicultural country. Keywords: Islam, Kejawen, Sundanese Wiwitan, Jalawastu, Bonokeling, dialectics, phenomenology.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the standards for improving the quality of Adiwiyata madrasas, how the Adiwiyata madrasa quality improvement program works, and the obstacles that arise in enhancing the quality of Adiwiyata madrasas. This research uses the type of field research where the researcher directly engages in data collection and acts as the key instrument. The steps for data collection used include defining the scope of the study, the process of gathering information through observation, both structured and unstructured interviews, documentation of visual materials, and efforts to design protocols for recording or noting information. The data analysis stage is carried out through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion verification. The results of this study found that the head of the madrasah established the Adiwiyata madrasah quality standards through the integration of Adiwiyata components into the eight national education standards, which include environmentally conscious policies, the implementation of an environment-based curriculum, participatory environment-based activities, and the management of environmentally friendly facilities and infrastructure. Second; The program to improve the quality of environmentally-oriented madrasahs is pursued through planning, action implementation, and periodic evaluation and monitoring of the adiwiyata program, supported by a democratic leadership model and emphasizing an environmental awareness spirit. Third; several obstacles that emerged include issues at the implementation level such as the relocation of trash bins, the adiwiyata program conflicting with the pesantren's ro’an program, the accumulation of plastic snack wrappers, and the lack of student awareness regarding the adiwiyata program, which still requires continuous strengthening and support. Keywords: Madrasah; Adiwiyata; Environmental Awareness; Program
