Published biannually (March and September), the journal serves as a platform for researchers in the field of Early Childhood Education to disseminate their research findings, encompassing both library-based and field-based studies. The focus and scope of JCE include several themes/topics related to: (a) stimulation of early childhood development, covering dimensions of moral and religious values, cognitive and language development, physical-motor skills, arts, and socio-emotional development; (b) early childhood curriculum development; (c) technological innovation and holistic-integrative learning strategies in early childhood education; (d) assessment and evaluation of early childhood education and development; and (e) psychological well-being and mental health within the context of early childhood education.

Abstract

Artikel ini ditulis berdasarkan penelitian yang dilatarbelakangi oleh tingkat kemandirian anak usia 5-6 tahun di Taman Kanak-Kanak Islam Al Azhar 32 Padang belum sesuai dengan aspek perkembangan yang seharusnya dimiliki anak usia 5-6 tahun. Kemandirian anak merupakan salah satu indikator penting dalam aspek perkembangan mereka terutama aspek kognitif, fisik, motorik dan emosional, sementara pola asuh orang tua merupakan peran yang krusial dalam membentuk karakter dan perilaku anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pola asuh orang tua terhadap tingkat kemandirian anak usia 5-6 tahun. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh anak di Taman Kanak-kanak Islam Al Azhar 32 Padang, dengan sampel anak di Kelas B Makkah, B Madinnah dan B Mina. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan teknik analisis data bersifat korelasional. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang mengukur tingkat kemandirian anak dan berbagai jenis pola asuh orang tua, termasuk pola asuh otoriter, permisif, dan demokratis. Analisis data menggunakan uji validasi, uji reabilitas dan teknik korelasi. Uji validitas untuk menguji kuallitals instrument penelitialn dilalkukaln vallidalsi dengaln palkalr alhli daln perhitungaln staltistik. Sedangkan uji reabilitas untuk menentukan apakah instrumen yang digunakan riabel atau tidak menggunakan perhitungan statistik. Teknik korelasi Pearson untuk menentukan hubungan antara kedua variabel X dan Y. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan signifikan antara pola asuh orang tua dan tingkat kemandirian anak yaitu hubungan antara pola asuh orang tua dan kemandirian anak dengan korelasional berkisar antara 0l,40l-0l,70l. Dimana pola asuh demokratis bernilai positif dengan tingkat kemandirian yang tinggi sedangkan pola asuh otoriter dan permisif bernilai negatif dengan tingkat kemandirian yang rendah.

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris dikenal sebagai satu diantara bahasa asing yang mempunyai peran krusial dalam komunikasi global Pentingnya mengenalkan kosakata bahasa Inggris dari anak disebabkan bisa membantu mereka untuk paham dan menerapkan bahasa Inggris secara baik dan tepat. Pelajaran bahasa Inggris dilaksanakan dengan tujuan membentuk pengenalan pada bahasa, lewat penggunaan konteks dari dari kondisi yang ada. Penelitian ini tujuan meraih informasi seputar efektivitas media pie chart modifikasi untuk mengenal kosa kata bahasa Inggris pada Taman Kanak-kanak (TK) Baiturridha 2 Lubuk Buaya. Metode penelitian memakai kuasi eksperimen, diimana grup eksperimen 10 sampel dan kontrol 10 sampel. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu media pie chart menyumbangkan pengaruh pada upaya mengenalkan kosakata bahasa Inggris untuk anak pada TK Baiturridha 2 Lubuk Buaya. Dengan pemerolehan effect size yang nilainya 1,651 dirah masuk dalam kategori kuat, maka media pie chart pada upaya memperkenalkan kosa-kata bahasa Inggris efektif signifikan. Berdasarkan analisa data penelitian yang diadakan bisa didapatkan Kesimpulan yakni penerapan media pie chart menyumbangkan pengaruh pada upaya memperkenalkan kosa kata bahasa Inggris anak berusia dini dari grup eksperimen yang menerapkan media  pie chart lebih bagus dibanding grgup kontrol dengan rata-rata grup eksperimen.

Abstract

Students interest in local culture tends to decline, especially in the face of globalization's influence, which shifts cultural values. This study aims to develop a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model integrated with local culture to enhance students' critical thinking skills in the course on the Development of Fine Motor Skills. This research is a development study or Research and Development (R&D) utilizing the 4D model (Define, Design, Development, and Dissemination). The research sample consists of third-semester students from the Early Childhood Education Teacher Program at Universitas Bengkulu for the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection is conducted through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and documentation, while data analysis employs qualitative analysis methods. The results indicate that the local culture-based PjBL model meets the criteria of being valid, practical, and effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. This effectiveness is demonstrated through a three-phase trial showing significant differences in students' abilities before and after the implementation of PjBL. Future researchers are encouraged to implement the local culture-based PjBL model more broadly across various study programs and courses, as well as conduct further research to evaluate the long-term impact of PjBL implementation on the development of critical thinking skills and other learning aspects

Abstract

litian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi guru dalam mengembangkan kemampuan literasi anak usia dini melalui kegiatan sehari-hari. Literasi pada anak usia dini merupakan fondasi penting yang mendukung kemampuan berbahasa, berpikir kritis, dan keterampilan sosial. Strategi berbasis kegiatan sehari-hari, seperti membaca cerita, bernyanyi, permainan berbasis bahasa, serta penggunaan media digital secara bijak, terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan minat dan keterampilan literasi anak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi pada guru-guru TK Se Kecamatan Tuah Medani Pekanbaru sebagai subjek penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa anak-anak yang terlibat dalam kegiatan literasi sehari-hari lebih antusias dan aktif, serta mengalami perkembangan signifikan dalam kosakata dan pemahaman bahasa. Dukungan orang tua juga memegang peran penting dalam memperkuat pengalaman literasi anak di rumah. Kesimpulannya, sinergi antara guru dan orang tua dalam menciptakan pengalaman literasi yang menyenangkan dan bermakna menjadi kunci untuk membangun kemampuan literasi yang kuat pada anak usia dini, sehingga mempersiapkan mereka untuk jenjang pendidikan berikutnya

Abstract

The rise of waste problems in Indonesia is a real threat to the environment and the future. This study aims to find out the strategies of educators in introducing zero waste to children aged 5-6 years at Kindergarten Muslimat NU Semedangan. In the academic sphere, the concept of zero waste needs to be introduced early to form awareness and environmentally friendly habits. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data sources are in the form of school principals, teaching teachers and parents/guardians of children aged 5-6 years. The results of the research on the strategy of introducing zero waste are meaningful learning, habituation, providing facilities that support and involve children's parents. The challenges in implementing waste care are the influence of the outside environment that still does not care about waste and the lack of collaboration between schools and partnerships.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the strategies implemented by the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Unit at RA Annidhamiyah Bindang Pasean Pamekasan in preventing bullying among children. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with observation, interview, and documentation approaches. The results showed that the strategies implemented by RA Annidhamiyah involved curriculum, psychological, social, and teacher and parent training approaches. The curriculum approach includes character education, habituation of mutual respect, and introduction of empathy values through daily activities. The psychological approach includes early identification of children who are potential perpetrators or victims of bullying, as well as individual and group counseling to improve social and emotional skills. The social approach emphasizes the establishment of an inclusive and supportive school culture and involving parents in supporting children's character building. However, challenges include a lack of cooperation between parents and institutions as well as social and cultural views that are less supportive of bullying prevention. Although there is a need to raise awareness and encourage community and parent involvement in bullying prevention initiatives, the tactics used at RA Annidhamiyah have generally had excellent outcomes in building a safe and supportive learning environment for children's growth. With this research, it can provide information related to strategies that can be implemented in preventing bullying for Education Units at the Early Childhood Education (PAUD) level in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of unstimulated HOTS abilities of children in Pertiwi 1 Kindergarten, Padang Governor's Office.This happens because learning activities are always centered on teachers and learning activities that always use LKA every day so that children are easily bored and quickly bored because there are no interesting activities and are carried out every day in learning.This study aims to meet how much influence the modified snakes and ladders game has on children's HOTS abilities in Pertiwi 1 Kindergarten, Padang Governor's Office.The research method used is quantitative with an experimental approach in the form of a quasi-experiment.Using a research sample in group B5 consisting of 10 children in the experimental class and 10 children in the control class.Data analysis techniques used include normality tests, homogeneity tests and hypothesis tests.To test the difference in children's HOTS abilities before and after being given treatment.The results of the research data analysis, the average pre-test for the experimental class was 14 and 14.7 for the control group.While the average post-test for the experimental group was 21.4 and 19.7 for the control class.The difference shows that for the experimental class using the snakes and ladders game and the control class using flashcards are homogeneous.The results of the study can be said to be significant because the use of modified snakes and ladders games has the advantage of stimulating HOTS abilities in children.The advantage of this snakes and ladders game is that children can solve simple problems, analyze images and compare one image with another.Thus it can be concluded that there is an influence of the modified snakes and ladders game on the HOTS abilities of children at Pertiwi 1 Kindergarten, Padang Governor's Office.

Abstract

This article presents findings from a study focused on the fine motor skills of children aged 5 to 6 years, highlighting instances where these skills do not align with developmental norms. The primary objective of the research was to evaluate the impact of Canva-based worksheets on the fine motor skills of children at State Kindergarten Pembina Barat in Payakumbuh. To achieve this, an experimental method was employed, utilizing a quantitative quasi-experimental approach. The study consisted of a population that included all children enrolled in the West Pembina State Kindergarten, with Class B8 designated as the experimental group and Class B7 serving as the control group. Each group included 10 children, allowing for a comparative analysis of outcomes.Various data analysis techniques were utilized, including normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests, to assess changes in the fine motor skills of the children before and after the intervention. The results indicated that the average pre-test score for the experimental class was 20. 5, while the control group scored an average of 21. 1. In the post-test phase, the experimental class achieved an average score of 34. 7, compared to 28. 8 for the control class.Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference between the two groups, with the experimental class outperforming the control class by 5. 9 points in the post-test. These findings suggest that Canva-based worksheets are effective in enhancing fine motor skill development among children at the West Pembina State Kindergarten in Payakumbuh.

Abstract

Early childhood education encompasses the nurturing of young minds through stimulating experiences that foster various dimensions of a child's growth and potential, preparing them for the subsequent stage of their educational journey. An essential area for development is the enhancement of children's language abilities, particularly their reading skills. This includes recognising letters, understanding letter shapes, discerning letter sounds, and comprehending how these sounds combine to form words. This study seeks to elucidate the implementation of early reading initiatives for young learners at the Kemala Bhayngkari 1 Padang Kindergarten. The research methodology employed is descriptive in nature, utilising a qualitative framework. The approach to data collection employs techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The methodologies employed in the analysis encompass data reduction, data presentation, and the formulation of conclusions.  The technique employed to ensure data validity is known as data triangulation. The outcomes of the preliminary reading introduction activities for children at Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Padang Kindergarten align seamlessly with the meticulously crafted plans that were established beforehand. The process of introducing children to reading involves the careful design of a module each week, aligned with the curriculum's topics and sub-topics, which is subsequently distilled into a comprehensive learning plan. The introduction of early reading activities for children is executed through a diverse array of approaches, including singing, play, demonstration, storytelling, conversation, questioning, and assignments. This is complemented by the use of letter cards, storybooks, and visual aids. The assessment of children's early reading engagement is conducted through a variety of evaluative methods aligned with the curriculum, including checklists, photo series, annotated notes, and samples of children's work.

Abstract

Character building in educational process is a fundamental element for forming the personality and morality of the younger generation. However, increasingly rapid and complex developments have presented their own challenges in implementing parenting patterns for children. One of these challenges is the emergence of a phenomenon called the “Strawberry generation”. This term refers to a generation that appears fragile, gives up easily, and lacks resilience in facing life's pressures or difficulties. One of the reasons for this is that parenting styles tend to be excessive in providing comfort without instilling the values ​​of toughness and independence. Facing this challenge, a character education strategy is needed that can form children who not only have intellectual intelligence, but also mental strength and good morals. The Islamic perspective, with its emphasis on the moral and spiritual values ​​contained in the teachings of the Qur'an and Hadith, offers a relevant approach to shaping the character of the younger generation. This research aims to explore character education strategies in facing parenting challenges in the strawberry generation, by examining the Islamic perspective which focuses on the formation of children's morals and mental resilience. The approach used in this research is a literature review with qualitative analysis of sources related to character education, parenting patterns and related Islamic teachings. The results of the study show that in Islam, character education does not only focus on teaching morals and ethics, but also prioritizes developing the traits of self-resilience, such as patience (shabr), steadfastness (istiqamah), and trust in Allah. Apart from that, the parenting style taught in Islam emphasizes a balance between deep love and strict application of discipline, as exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Thus, it is hoped that the character education strategy from an Islamic perspective can be a solution to overcome the weaknesses of the strawberry generation, as well as form a young generation who is tough, has noble character, and is ready to face life's challenges with full confidence.
