Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to empirically test whether there is underpricing and herding behavior in companies that have just IPO on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2020. The selection in 2020 is because the stock exchange experiences high trading volatility due to the crisis impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a market adjusted return approach in calculating underpricing, and uses the Chang, Cheng, and Khorana (CCK) method to indicate the occurrence of herding behavior in IPO shares on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The significance level used in the study was 5%. The results show that there is an underpricing phenomenon in companies whose IPOs are on the IDX and there is no evidence of herding behavior by investors on IPO shares on the IDX. Investors are advised to invest in IPO shares, especially during the pandemic and make rational considerations in making investment decisions in the capital market. Keywords:  Underpricing, Herding Behavior, IPO Shares, Pandemic, Capital Market

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to see whether the e-satisfaction variable can have a mediating effect on e-service quality and perceived ease of use on online repurchase intention on marketplace sites. The consumers on the marketplace website were provided with online questionnaires as part of the research method. A total of 268 respondents were gathered. The data were then analyzed utilizing LISREL 8.70 software. The results revealed that e-satisfaction could partially mediate between e-service quality and online repurchase intention and could fully mediate between perceived ease of use on online repurchase intention. The implication is that marketplace sites need to improve e-satisfaction through e-service quality, which is continuously improved and provides easy-to-understand features for consumers; thus, it can encourage the desire to repurchase products/services on the marketplace site.  Keywords:E-Service Quality, Perceived Ease of Use, E-Satisfaction, Online Repurchase Intention, Marketplace

Abstract

AbstractGovernment intervention plays an important role in reducing poverty in South Halmahera as an antithesis to when market mechanisms fail to distribute wealth. From the Islamic public finance perspective, the ulil-amri (the government) plays a central role in managing public budget and is subject to the sharia value system. This research descriptively explores how the SH government manages its expenditure side for poverty alleviation and tries to conceptualize direct spending using the 2019 APBD(The Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget) sample with the maqashid sharia approach. The results show that government spending brings benefits to the poor, but unfortunately an increase in spending does not always reduce poverty. During the COVID-19 pandemic, budget refocusing was quite successful in reducing poverty. Meanwhile, the expenditure allocation according to the maqashid sharia indicator has reached 69% of the total direct expenditure, although the expenditure allocation for religious protection received the smallest portion, 0.42%. Keywords:Poverty, Government Expenditure, Budget Refocusing, Maqashid Sharia

Abstract

AbstractEast Java Province is one area in Indonesia with many potentials in the creative industry sector, especially SMEs. Unfortunately, SMEs growth in East Java Province is relatively slow because most of them still do not use technological tools. The reason is, SMEs is not attractive enough to the millennial generation and are still not digitized. This research was conducted to determine SMEs' potential digitalization to attract the millennial generation's interest in SMEs. The result showed three main obstacles to applying technology tools in the SMEs industry: marketing networking, branding and packaging, and product standardization. Apart from the obstacle, there are also three essential things to increase their interest in SMEs sectors, which are:  SMEs community; local materials distribution; and optimization of the entrepreneurial mindset. A smart economy strategy can become a long-term economic investment to overcome every obstacle and stimulate the growth and Youngpreneur interest in the SMEs industry. Keywords:Millenial Generation, Smart Economy, SMEs

This study aims to determine the antecedents of financial well-being in college students in terms of personal and behavioral characteristics. Personal characteristics and behavior are in terms of materialism, financial behavior, and financial self-efficacy variables. These variables are measured through a questionnaire instrument developed from previous research. The results of this study found that materialism and financial behavior had a negative and significant effect on financial well-being, but financial self-efficacy was not proven to have a significant effect on financial well-being. The results of this study provide practical implications in improving student financial well-being, such as through financial literacy to control student materialism and financial behavior. Keywords:Materialism, Financial Behavior, Financial Self-Efficacy, Financial Well-Being.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine the effect of GRDP, HDI, Economic Growth, and Unemployment Rate on poverty levels in West Nusa Tenggara Province. The method used the Random Effect Model as the selected model through a series of model selection tests and classical assumption tests. Regression results using the selected model show that of the four variables that cause poverty rates, only the HDI variable negatively and significantly affects poverty rates. Meanwhile, the other three variables (GRDP, economic growth, and unemployment rate) do not significantly affect poverty. The result suggests that the West Nusa Tenggara government should increase the HDI through stimulus programs in terms of education and health to provide more human resources, create more jobs for the lower and middle class to overcome unemployment and reduce poverty level, and expand the scope of GRDP and development in the economic structure sector to reduce the poverty level.  Keywords:GRDP, HDI, panel data, random effects models

Abstract

AbstractIn order to reduce the import ratio and high budget needs for energy subsidies, the government of Indonesia is currently developing DME production to replace LPG as fuel in cooking activities. From various previous studies, the policy of using DME not only requires a relatively expensive cost but also has the potential to disrupt health and endanger environmental sustainability due to the use of large amounts of fossil energy from coal. This study aims to examine the impacts of DME policy on the Indonesian economy using the CGE method, 2019 SAM data and two forms of shocks: (i) Decreasing LPG imports and (ii) Reallocating the subsidies budget. DME will have a positive impact on the economy, trigger growth in the productivity of various sectors and encourage employment, but only in the short run. The results of the study in the long run show negative implications even though the percentages are relatively low and not significant. Keywords: CGE, DME, Energy Subsidies, Import, LPG

Abstract

AbstractFinancial stability is an important part of economic growth. The main objective of this study is to analyse how financial stability (using Bank Z-Score) affects economic growth. The data used is country-level data from five selected Southeast Asian countries (Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand) for the period 2011 – 2021 using the ARDL model approach. The results of this study found strong evidence that financial stability (banking stability) has a positive effect on economic growth for countries in the Southeast Asian region. This study also reveals that it is not only important financial stability variables to achieve economic growth, but investment and trade openness must also be increased if the country is to achieve its expected economic growth. A positive correlation between investment and trade openness suggests a potential for these factors to contribute to economic growth synergistically. Keywords:Financial Stability, Economic Growth, Bank Z-Score, ARDL
