Abstract

The existence of Shia as part of the treasury of Indonesian Islam is often marginalized in the mainstream narrative of history and religion, even though it has strong historical roots since the 7th to 9th centuries AD through trade and preaching routes, especially in the coastal areas of Sumatera and Aceh. In its development, the Shia community has experienced various dynamics, ranging from cultural acceptance to theological and social marginalization, especially after the reformation which was marked by increasing conservatism and identity politics. This study aims to explore the historical traces of Shia in Indonesia, examine public perceptions of it, and identify contemporary challenges faced. The research method used is qualitative based on literature studies with a descriptive-analytical approach to historical literature, relevant journals, official documents, and media reports. The results of the study show that negative perceptions of Shia are shaped by sectarian narratives, narrow religious education, and unbalanced media, which have an impact on social discrimination. Meanwhile, contemporary challenges include socio-political pressure, hate speech, and restrictions on religious freedom. Although various advocacy efforts and inter-school dialogue have been carried out, acceptance of Shia is still limited. Therefore, it is necessary to reconstruct more inclusive perceptions and policies to support a just and pluralistic religious life in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of Islamic values-based school leadership and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of Islamic values in school leadership at SMP Negeri 2 Candiroto Satu Atap, Canggal Village, Candiroto District, Temanggung Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach with a field study method. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews with principals and teachers, and documentation of leadership activities and school policies. The results showed that the principal's leadership at SMP Negeri 2 Candiroto Satu Atap has implemented Islamic values such as trustworthiness, fairness, shura, and sincerity in carrying out his duties. The principal is not only an administrative manager, but also a moral and spiritual role model who encourages the creation of a harmonious, religious, and participatory school climate. Supporting factors for the implementation of Islamic values in leadership include the principal's commitment, teachers' support, and the religious culture of the surrounding community. The inhibiting factors are limited human resources, lack of infrastructure and limited access to technology. Nevertheless, the contextual and collaborative leadership approach is able to overcome these obstacles, so that Islamic values remain the main foundation in managing and developing the school.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively describe the implementation of the "Kurikulum Merdeka" (Independent Curriculum) by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers at Muhammadiyah 5 Junior High School Surakarta in the 2024/2025 academic year, as well as to identify the problems encountered and the efforts made to address them. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The research subjects included the principal and two PAI teachers. The findings revealed that the Kurikulum Merdeka has been implemented across all classes, using CP/ATP and modules prepared by the central Muhammadiyah foundation. PAI teachers actively contextualize their instruction by integrating Islamic values and discussing contemporary social issues relevant to students’ lives. Nonetheless, they face several challenges, including difficulties in applying differentiated instruction, limited time for formative assessments, and a lack of technical training. To address these challenges, the teachers engage in reflective teaching practices, attend internal workshops and online training, share best practices with peers, and improve their assessment design skills. The study concludes that successful implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka requires strong institutional support and continuous professional development. The findings imply the need for collaborative strategies among the government, foundations, and schools to empower teachers in navigating the complexities of the new curriculum.

Abstract

Seating arrangements are often made in organisations. Seating changes can occur due to changes in organisational structure or room construction. The research aims to explore in depth how seating positions in the workspace shape and influence the dynamics of collaboration among members of an educational organization. Focusing on a private campus in Central Java, the researcher examines the unique context of the institution, aiming to identify interaction patterns naturally arising from seating arrangements that contribute to the formation of a collaborative environment. This study employs qualitative research methods, with informants selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data was collected through participatory observation and in-depth interviews. Furthermore, the data that has been collected is analysed using thematic analysis. The results show that, first, seating that is further apart or separated by physical barriers limits the intensity of interaction and tends to create more formal and structured communication patterns. Second, the dynamics of collaboration due to seating arrangements can be very different, depending on the personalities of individual members of the organisation. Third, seating arrangements and transfers are not a problem when the transferee is comfortable. This comfort can be achieved through the suitability of the physical and social environment

Abstract

The decentralization of education has the potential to create gaps in the aspect of education financing, which can ultimately lead to inequality in the quality of education between regions. The implementation of regional autonomy since 2001 has brought significant changes in the governance of the education sector. Therefore, financing is a crucial element in the implementation of education. In the context of regional autonomy, the responsibility for the implementation of education from Kindergarten to Senior High School is handed over to the local government. Thus, the sustainability and quality of education are greatly influenced by the ability of the regions to manage the sector. Unfortunately, the implementation of educational autonomy by local governments has not been fully optimal, one of one of which is due to budget limitations and various other factors. Nevertheless, educational autonomy has a number of positive potentials, including improving managerial efficiency and job satisfaction of educators, producing more contextual and concrete education policies, and optimizing the use of educational resources. In addition, this autonomy allows for more optimal exploration of local potential, the preparation of an education system that is in accordance with local cultural values, and an increase in community participation. Autonomy also contributes to increased accountability, which can overall ensure the quality of education. Other positive effects that can be achieved through educational autonomy include improving the education system at the local level, efficiency in administration and finance, and providing higher quality educational services. This makes educational autonomy a strategic instrument in answering challenges in today's world of education.

Abstract

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) is a deviant phenomenon in the social environment, this occurs due to a lack of understanding of religion and the wise use of technology. The method used is qualitative analysis, where the data analyzed comes from primary sources such as information obtained from various electronic media and secondary sources such as journals, documents and news related to LGBT rejection. The results obtained show that society's values, religion and morality are incompatible with LGBT culture, giving rise to LGBT rejection movements in various regions in Indonesia. This deviation is a shared responsibility, both government, society, social institutions, educational institutions and youth organizations so that this can be minimized. Effective strategies to implement include implementing laws to have a deterrent effect, creating a positive environment, and supervising the younger generation. Focusing on LGBT rejection is important for Indonesian society to better understand the negative impacts it causes, both in terms of physical and mental health.
