Abstract

The distribution pipe refers to API 5L Grade B standard, 8 inches in diameter, has a length of 212 km. The design life of pipe is 20 years, but after being operated, there were two leaks in this segment in one year. This condition resulted in disruption of oil deliveries. Research is needed to determine the cause of pipe failure before its design life. Pipe samples are subjected to visual observation, thickness test, chemical composition of the pipe, microstructure test, Characterization test of pipe corrosion product deposits. Produced water are testing to determine anions, cations and the tendency for scale formation with Valone & Skillern references. The visual test results showed that the inside of the pipe was thinning at 6 o'clock. Chemical composition testing showed that there was no difference in chemical composition with API 5L Grade B standards. SEM results in the leak area revealed the corrosion morphology caused by dissolved CO2. XRD analysis of the corrosion deposits formed were siderite (Fe2CO3), hematite (Fe3O4) and iron (Fe) compounds. Pipe failure occurs due to corrosive substances in the form of produced water. This situation causes the surface of the pipe to be exposed to produced water at the 6' o'clock position, initiating the formation of hydrogen ions (H+) and ions (HCO3-).

Abstract

Oil and gas production operations at offshore facilities pose significant risks that can lead to major accidents and substantial losses. This study aims to analyze the Major Accident Hazard (MAH) risks at the offshore production platform facilities of Company X in the upstream oil and gas sector. The research employs the MAH Risk Register method to identify and evaluate MAH risks at the offshore production platform facilities. By utilizing the MAH Risk Register method and Bow Tie analysis, this study provides a clearer understanding of MAH risks at offshore production platform facilities and recommends appropriate improvements to minimize these risks. The research findings indicate that there are two main risks categorized as 'high risk' or Major Accident Hazard in offshore platform operations, namely ship transportation activities that cause collisions with the platform and operational activities that can lead to hydrocarbon gas leaks. These hazards not only threaten the safety of personnel and the environment but also disrupt production operations and cause financial losses. The Bow Tie analysis further identifies key preventive and mitigative barriers that can be enhanced to reduce the likelihood and consequences of these hazards. Recommendations include improving vessel traffic management systems, implementing stricter control of work procedures, enhancing gas detection systems, and conducting regular emergency response drills. By strengthening these control measures, the potential for major accidents can be significantly reduced, thereby ensuring safer and more sustainable offshore operations.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the potential implementation of new and renewable energy (NRE) on the fleet of PT XYZ as part of the company's energy transition strategy towards Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by 2060. The maritime transportation sector is the main focus, given its high fossil fuel consumption and significant greenhouse gas emissions. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving secondary data analysis, field observations on the installation and operation of solar power generation systems (PLTS) on Crew Boat vessels, and interviews with PT XYZ management, ship technicians, and relevant regulators. Problem identification is done through Pareto analysis and fishbone diagrams to find the root causes of high fuel consumption. The research results show that dependence on fossil fuel-based auxiliary engines, lack of renewable energy alternatives, and low operational efficiency are the main factors. As a solution, PT XYZ develops an NRE system consisting of 4 units of 550 Wp solar panels (PV String), 2.16 kWp DC / 2 kW AC inverter, and 10 kWh lithium battery. The implementation of this innovation results in significant fuel savings of up to IDR 463.37 million per year and CO2 emission reduction of 43.64 tons per year, as well as increased operational efficiency of the vessel. This research provides strategic recommendations for PT XYZ in realizing the company's sustainability vision and makes an important contribution to global efforts to reduce the impact of climate change.

Abstract

Abstract. supporting the supply chain of the garment and textile industry in Indonesia. PT XYZ established in 1975, has grown into a leading manufacturer of spun yarn, polytethlene terepthalate (PET), and polyester. The company faces challenges in controlling product defects. Therefore, qualty control aims to ensure that all product meet the specified standards. By implementing Six Sigma dan Kaizen methods, the company can identify and address the causes of product defects, thereby improving overall production. The calculation results show a DPMO of 25.45 with a sigma level 5.87, indicating that the yarn products are at a 5 sigma level, approaching 6 sigma. The Kaizen Five Step Plan and Kaizen Five M-Checklist concepts have produced solutions such as monitoring the production process, employee evaluation, continous training, cleanliness and machine maintenance audits, and SOP implementation audits.

Abstract

Abstract. The selection of optimal plastic pellet samples is often constrained by subjective manual assessments, affecting product quality and production efficiency. This study presents a web-based Decision Support System (DSS) utilizing the Multi-Objective Optimization on the Basis of Ratio Analysis (MOORA) method to improve objectivity in the selection process. Five weighted criteria are used: material cleanliness, physical quality, material strength, price, and plastic type suitability. MOORA calculates the optimization value for each alternative, enabling precise and accountable recommendations. The system’s implementation demonstrates enhanced selection speed, reduced subjectivity, and support for quality-based pricing decisions. Overall, the proposed DSS effectively improves decision-making accuracy and contributes to better production outcomes.

Abstract

In recent decades, research on welding has grown rapidly, especially in terms of finding more efficient welding techniques. The welding angle is very important because it can affect the quality of the weld. This welding angle has been studied by many researchers. One example is an experimental study that conducted welding of HSLA steel with various angles (30°, 45°, 60°, and 90°) using ARC welding at a speed of 150 A and 10 mm/s. This study found that a smaller welding angle can improve the tensile strength and toughness of low-alloy high-alloy steel materials. This study found that the choice of welding parameters significantly affects mechanical properties, including tensile strength and toughness, which are important for applications in industries such as automotive and construction.

Abstract

Abstract. The progress of an educational institution is highly influenced by the quality of the systems it implements, one of which is the student attendance system. Currently, geofencing technology has become an innovative solution to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of attendance systems, especially with the integration of notifications to parents. However, SMK Islamic Center Baiturrahman Semarang still uses a conventional attendance system that has not yet adopted this technology. Therefore, this research aims to design and implement a Geofencing-based Student Attendance System integrated with parents to improve transparency and accuracy in student attendance. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D), which includes stages of needs analysis, system design, development, and product effectiveness testing. The results of this research are expected to provide an effective technological solution for SMK Islamic Center Baiturrahman Semarang in improving the quality of student attendance management and strengthening collaboration between the school and parents. With the implementation of this system, it is hoped that a more transparent, efficient, and technology-responsive educational environment can be created.

Abstract

Piping systems are critical components across various industrial sectors, including agriculture. The 90° elbow plays a key role in directing fluid flow; however, abrupt changes in flow direction within the elbow often lead to pressure losses and vortex formation, particularly in configurations with small curvature radii. This study aims to analyze the fluid flow characteristics within a 90° elbow under different curvature radii (extreme, R30 mm, and R50 mm) and various valve opening conditions, using numerical simulation based on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in ANSYS Fluent 2019 R3. The simulation results show that increasing the curvature radius leads to a more uniform pressure distribution along the bend and a reduction in vortex formation. Although larger valve openings increase flow velocity and Reynolds number, the pressure and velocity contours do not exhibit significant changes in flow patterns. This study confirms that elbow geometry design greatly influences the hydrodynamic efficiency of piping systems and can help minimize the risk of damage due to uneven pressure distribution

Abstract

This study analyzes the performance of the Logistic Regression algorithm in facial image classification using a combination of color and shape features. These features are used to extract key information to distinguish individuals. Logistic Regression was chosen for its simplicity and ability to produce probabilities, despite the availability of more complex algorithms. The dataset includes variations in facial expressions and lighting conditions. The results show that combining color and shape features improves classification accuracy to 80%, with a recall of 88% and a precision of 75.86%. However, the algorithm shows limitations when dealing with high-complexity data. This study contributes to the development of more efficient facial recognition systems and offers insights into the strengths and limitations of Logistic Regression in image classification tasks.

Abstract

Abstrak. Peningkatan volume lalu lintas di kota-kota besar, khususnya di Indonesia, telah menyebabkan masalah seperti kemacetan, kecelakaan, dan polusi. Salah satu tantangan utama adalah deteksi otomatis dan klasifikasi jenis kendaraan dalam sistem pemantauan lalu lintas. Sistem pemantauan yang efektif tidak hanya memonitor jumlah kendaraan tetapi juga secara akurat mengidentifikasi jenis kendaraan dalam kondisi lalu lintas yang dinamis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan algoritma Random Forest untuk mendeteksi jenis kendaraan dengan akurasi yang tinggi pada sistem pemantauan lalu lintas berbasis citra. Metode penelitian meliputi pengumpulan data citra kendaraan dari kamera pengawas, pra-pemrosesan citra, ekstraksi fitur, penerapan algoritma Random Forest, dan evaluasi kinerja model dengan menggunakan metrik seperti akurasi, presisi, recall, dan F1-score. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa algoritma Random Forest dapat mengklasifikasikan jenis kendaraan dengan akurasi sebesar 92%, dengan F1-score yang baik pada setiap kategori kendaraan, yaitu mobil (0.91), motor (0.94), truk (0.89), dan bus (0.93). Pengujian hyperparameter menunjukkan bahwa jumlah pohon yang lebih banyak dan kedalaman pohon yang lebih besar meningkatkan kinerja model. Namun, tantangan yang berkaitan dengan kondisi cuaca dan kualitas citra tetap menjadi perhatian. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa algoritma Random Forest memiliki potensi besar untuk diaplikasikan dalam sistem pemantauan lalu lintas untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan akurasi deteksi kendaraan secara real-time.
