Abstract

This study aims to analyze the muscle activity in the upper body of the hand posture. Measurements are made when the workers perform the activities of making pottery in a sitting position. Measurements use surface electromyography and differentiate sex between men and women. The research steps were: (1) worker capture resulted in ten postures, (2) determination of muscle influences, namely: extensor carpi radialis muscle, extensor carpi ulnar muscle, extensor of the wrist muscle, biceps brachii muscle, flexor carpi radialis muscle, and (5) calculate using root mean square (RMS) and RMS value index RMS value and deviation index RMS value of male - higher than women in each muscle and in every posture.

Abstract

Penelitian ini akan melihat pengaruh kedalaman air terhadap short term memory dan konsumsi energi penyelam. Penelitian ini mengambil sampel 10 mahasiswa pria dan 5 wanita. Pengukuran performansi short term memory dilakukan dengan cara setiap obyek diperlihatkan deretan 7 angka acak yang diberikan selama 5 detik dan setelah 15 detik kemudian dilakukan pemanggilan kembali informasi yang baru saja diberikan. Setiap obyek diuji sebangak 30 kali untuk setiap kedalaman (1 m; 2,5 m; dan 4 m). Pengukuran konsumsi energi dilakukan dengan menghitung denyut jantung menggunakan metode palpasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin meningkat kedalaman air, maka performasi short term memory penyelam tersebut semakin menurun.  Penurunan ini berlaku untuk pria dan wanita. Penambahan kedalaman ini juga meningkatkan konsumsi energi baik pada pria maupun wanita. Perbedaan jenis kelamin mempengaruhi performansi short term memory secara signifikan. Pria memiliki performansi rata-rata short term memory sebesar 91,67% pada kedalaman 1 m, 90,67% pada kedalaman 2,5 m, dan 86,33% pada kedalaman 4 m. Sedangkan wanita memiliki performansi rata-rata sebesar 86% pada kedalaman 1 m, 84% pada kedalaman 2,5 m, dan 80,67% pada kedalaman 4 m. Rata-rata konsumsi energi pria adalah 3,19 kkal, 3,34 kkal, dan 3,65 kkal pada kedalaman 1 m; 2,5 m; dan 4 m berturut-turut. Sedangkan rata-rata konsumsi energi wanita adalah 3,81 kkal, 4,07 kkal, dan 4,54 kkal pada kedalaman yang sama dengan pria.     Kata kunci : tekanan, kedalaman air, performansi short term memory, konsumsi energi.       This research is to observe water depth effects on short term memory and energy expenditure of diver. This research objects are 10 male and 5 female students. Short term memory performance measurement held by every object has been shown 7 random numerics (as information) for 5 seconds and after 15 seconds later they write down the information on a paper. Every object got 30 tests for every depth ( 1 m; 2.5 m, and 4 m). Energy expenditure measurement held by counting heart rate using palpasi method. The results are as deep as the diver dive, short term memory performance will be decreasing and energy expenditure will be increasing for male and female. Gender differences influencing the results significantly. Male has short term memory performance average 91.67% at 1 m, 90,67% at 2.5 m, and 86,33% at 4 m. Female has average performance 86% at 1 m, 84% at 2.5%, and 80,67% at 4 m. Energy expenditure average for male are 3.19 kcal, 3,34 kcal, and 3,65 kcal at 1 m, 2.5 m, and 4 m respectively. Energy expenditure for female are 3.81 kcal, 4,07 kcal, and 4,54 kcal at same depth like male. Keywords: pressure, water depth, short term memory performance, energy expenditure.

Abstract

Pada penelitian ini, studi usabilitas pada situs berita versi mobile akan dilakukan. Studi menitikberatkan untuk memahami konfigurasi usabilitas dari situs berita versi mobile. Penelitian ini menggunakan situs berita detik.com dan kompas.com sebagai objek penelitian. Situs berita diakses dengan menggunakan komputer tablet. Sepuluh responden turut serta dalam penelitian ini. Responden diminta untuk menyelesaikan beberapa beberapa tasks yang terkait penggunaan situs berita. Hasil penelitian ini selanjutnya akan ditampilkan dalam lima atribut usabilitas menurut Nielsen. Untuk atribut learnability, situs berita detik.com memiliki masalah pada tombol home, sedangkan situs berita kompas.com memiliki masalah pada bagian berita terkait. Untuk atribut efficiency, permasalahan usabilitas terjadi pada tombol home, bagian berita terkait, dan bagian berita terpopuler pada kedua situs tersebut. Untuk atribut memorability, permasalahan usabilitas terjadi tombol home detik.com, sedangkan pada kompas.com hal ini terjadi pada tombol home, bagian berita terkait, dan bagian berita terpopuler. Untuk atribut error, error hanya terjadi pada saat responden menyelesaikan task dengan situs berita detik.com. Untuk atribut terakhir, satisfaction, tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kepuasaan responden baik dari detik.com dan kompas.com. Berdasarkan penjelasan tersebut, maka pada beberapa bagian seperti berita teraktual dan search baik dari situs berita detik.com dan kompas.com versi mobile tidak ditemukan permasalahan usabilitas sehingga fitur tersebut dapat dipertahankan. Sedangkan pada bagian lain seperti tombol home, bagian topik, bagian berita terkait, dan bagian berita terpopuler perlu dimodifikasi agar permasalahan usabilitas tidak muncul kembali.

Abstract

There is a concern to use masks during physical activities when exercising and working. Wearing masks during physical activity will pose a risk to physiological changes in the body and human heat strain by the principle of a mask can block the respiratory tract. This study aims to determine how much the human physiological changes quantitatively and qualitatively when using different types of medical masks, cloths and N95. There were 10 respondents as a sample of this study. The results obtained show that the different types of masks to the physiological response of the human body, cloth masks can affect the physiological changes the highest compared to medical masks and N95. The subjective response in the form of thermal comfort, mask sensation, and thermal sensation shows that of the 3 types of masks, the N95 mask is the mask that is the most uncomfortable when worn. The recommendations of the 3 types of masks are medical masks because they affect the slightest increase in the risk of heat stress while the cloth masks have the highest increase in tympanic temperature and Physiological Strain Index.

Abstract

Data of traffic accidents in Indonesia reveal high rate of traffic incidence. Lack of discipline, low driving skill, poor knowledge of traffic rules of drivers are at high risk. Education on traffic rules can be obtained easily from both printed and electronic media. Large amount of information on safety driving, however, has not significantly reduced traffic accident rate. Some types of education on safety driving available at present may not be effective for would-be drivers. The objective of the study was to identify the effective education in safety driving on the knowledge of perspective drivers when encountering traffic conflict. The study was conducted on 30 respondents aged 15-17 yeras, who were classified into 3 groups: 10 respondents used visual texts, 10 respondents used visual pictures, and 10 respondents used Audio Visual (an instructor). All respondents took pre-test and post-test. The result showed the type of education influenced would-be drivers' comprehension. Visual pictures and audio visual (an instructor) were the most effective types of education on safety driving for perspective drivers.

Abstract

Tekkone merupakan website dengan konsep mesin pencari yang berdiri pada tahun 2018 dimana satu-satunya mesin pencari khusus seminar dan call for paper yang dilaksanakan di Indonesia. Website Tekkone dalam tahap pengembangan (development product) yaitu pengembangan terkait fitur website conference secara otomatis, sehingga perlu melibatkan calon pengguna yang akan memanfaatkan website tersebut untuk mengetahui seberapa jauh kualitas yang diberikan terutama kepada pihak penyelenggara yang aktif mengadakan seminar di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan untuk membantu menganalisis kualitas website dan rencana perbaikan terhadap website Tekkone adalah integrasi dari WebQual (website quality) dan IPA (importance performance analysis). Objek yang digunakan sebanyak 21 orang dengan kriteria sebagai penyelenggara seminar di lingkungan Fakultas Teknik, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu indikator-indikator yang menurut pengguna masih perlu ditingkatkan kualitasnya adalah “Website Tekkone menyediakan informasi pembuatan web konferensi yang cukup jelas”,“Pengguna merasa aman dalam mengunggah data saat proses pembuatan web konferensi”, “Website Tekkone menyediakan informasi yang cukup detail dalam pembuatan web konferensi”, “Dalam pembuatan web konferensi tidak mengalami error/ masalah”. Selanjutnya, dalam penelitian ke depan dilakukan perbaikan terhadap website Tekkone berdasarkan hasil penilaian kualitas yang telah dihasilkan.

Abstract

Hip implant made from titanium is special due to its lower modulus of elasticity to avoid stress shielding with the human bone. One type of load the material designed to withstand is a gradually increased compressive force which happened when the patient change his/her position from sitting to standing. This study examined the capability of a metal on polymer (MOP) implant made from commercially pure titanium (CP-Ti) and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) loaded up to 3 kN according to ISO 14242 standard. Two CP-Ti/UHMWPE MOP models with femoral diameter of 22 mm and 32 mm were simulated with finite element. The results expressed in load displacement curves were validated with compressive load experimental tests. Both materials are capable to withstand the load. Simulation data are in good agreement with the experiments.

Abstract

Nickel-chromium alloy is a preferred material for fixed partial denture due to its low cost as well as good physical and mechanical properties. Tooth brushing using toothpaste produces abrasion on restoration, especially in a long period. This study aimed to observe the effect of toothbrushing duration on the wear of nickel-chromium alloy. Twenty four specimens of nickel-chromium alloy (Metal 4all, Ivoclar, USA) in 30X15X1mm3 dimension were treated using tooth brushing simulation machine (wear test machine, pin on plate unidirectional movement type) and toothpaste (modification of Balsam formula). The brushing durations were 30.9, 77.25, 123.6, and 154.5 hoursas the simulation of 2, 5, 8, and 10 years tooth brushing. Surface roughness and weight difference as abrasion indicator were measured and analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by LSD test. Tooth brushing duration of 2, 5, 8, and 10 years increased nickel-chromium alloy surface roughness (Ra) by 0.16, 0.39, 0.43, and 0.56µm with weight loss of 8%, 15%, 23%, and 32 %, respectively. These differences were statistically significant (p <0.05). The result of LSD test showed a significant effect (p <0.05) between groups of toothbrushing duration. The increase of surface roughness affects the increase of wear volume of nickel-chromium alloy indicated by R = 0.11 for brushing duration of 2, 5, 8, and 10 years. The conclusion of this study was 10 years tooth brushing promoted wear on nickelchromium alloy, whichwas indicated by the increase in surface roughness and weight loss.

Abstract

Dental glass fiber is one of dental synthetic fibers that are widely used in dentistry as a dental resin reinforcement, such as in dentin replacement material. The availability of glass fiber is limited in Indonesia because it must be imported and relatively expensive. Bombyx mori silk-fiber is one of the strongest natural fiber derived from silkworm cocoon processing. Silk-fiber is used in medical applications as a post-surgical sutures, scaffolds for tissue engineering and drug delivery. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of Bombyx mori silk-fiber volume on the flexural strength of fiber-reinforced composite (FRC). We used Bombyx mori silk-fiber (Perhutani Pati, Central Java, Indonesia) and flowable composite (Charmfil flow, Denkist, Korea) in this study. The FRC samples were divided into 4 groups consisting of fiber volumes of 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% (n = 4). Tests of flexural strength were performed according to ISO 4049. The results were analyzed using one way ANOVA (p<0.05). The study showed that the means of the flexural strength (MPa) of Bombyx mori silk-fiber FRC for volume of 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% were 149.2 ± 5.5; 127.6 ± 3.8; 110.9 ± 3.5; 71.2 ± 4.2. One-way ANOVA test showed that the means of FRC flexural strength on the four groups’ silk-fiber Bombyx mori volumetric were significantly different (p<0.05). This study concluded that Bombyx mori silk-fiber volumetric influences the flexural strength of fiber- reinforced composite. An increase in Bombyx mori silk-fiber volume decreases the flexural strength of FRC because there is a small gap due to the weak interfacial bonds between dental flowable composite and Bombyx mori silk-silk-fiber.

Abstract

Frame denture generally uses Co-Cr alloy. However, alloy is expensive, so dental laboratories use residual sprue casting for recasting. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Co-Cr alloy recasting on fracture toughness. This was a laboratory experiment, with five sample groups, namely R0: 100% of new alloys; R1: 50% one-time recasting procedure and 50% new alloys, R2: 50% two-time recasting procedure and 50% new alloys, R3: 50% three-time recasting procedure and 50% new alloys, R4: 50% four-time recasting procedure and 50% new alloys. Fracture toughness was tested using a universal testing machine; the data were analyzed by One-Way Anova test and LSD (p>0.05). The results showed that the fracture toughness was 233.103 MPa-m1/2 in R4, and the highest was 242.435 MPa-m1/2 in R0. The results of the analysis by the LSD test on fracture toughness showed that there were no significant differences in R0 with R1 and R2, but there were significant differences between R0 with R3 and R4. There was a decrease after recasting in each group because of the missing elements of the Co-Cr alloy. The percentage of each element decreased due to oxidation and evaporation during heating. There was a change in the composition of the Co-Cr alloy in R3 and R4. There was a decrease in the fracture toughness. Variation in recasting frequency of Co-Cr alloy affected the fracture toughness. In each sample groups, the fracture toughness of Co-Cr alloy decreased after recasting.
