Abstract

Students of Tahfidz Qur’an boarding schools come from diverse social and cultural backgrounds and often face challenges in adapting to the disciplined learning environment. Limited peer social support, poor self-adjustment, and low self-efficacy can increase tendencies toward academic procrastination. This study aims to analyze the influence of peer social support, self-adjustment, and self-efficacy on procrastination among Tahfidz Qur’an students. Employing a quantitative survey design, data were collected from 66 students using standardized psychological scales measuring peer social support, self-adjustment, self-efficacy, and procrastination. The data were analyzed through multiple linear regression using SPSS version 22. The results indicate that the three independent variables collectively have a significant effect on procrastination behavior (F = 5.753; p = 0.002, p < 0.01). Further analysis shows that peer social support (r = -0.447; p = 0.000), self-adjustment (r = -0.377; p = 0.001), and self-efficacy (r = -0.256; p = 0.018) each significantly contribute to explaining procrastination. Peer social support contributes most effectively (8.9%), followed by self-adjustment and self-efficacy (1.2% each). The findings highlight the importance of strengthening psychosocial and personal aspects in reducing procrastination and fostering productivity among students in Islamic educational settings, particularly in the digital era where distractions and self-management challenges are increasingly prevalent.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss religious-based political polarization in Indonesia's digital public sphere, as seen in the controversial case between Pesantren and Trans7. The formal object of this study is the digital public sphere as a social communication construct in Habermas' perspective, while the material object is the phenomenon of religious-based political polarization in the controversial case between Pesantren and Trans7. This study uses a qualitative approach with a systematic literature review method. The results and discussion in this study show that the digital public sphere has shifted from an arena of rational discourse to an arena of opinion battles filled with emotions, identity sentiments, and political interests. Therefore, it is necessary to revitalize the digital public sphere by strengthening the ethics of dialogue, social media responsibility, and public rational awareness so that freedom of expression is in line with moral values, justice, and the principles of deliberative democracy.

Abstract

The climate crisis is not only an environmental issue but also an ethical and communicative challenge in the digital age. This article reinterprets ecofeminism through Gadamerian hermeneutics and Seyyed Hossein Nasr’s Islamic ecotheology to construct a framework of digital Islamic ethics for sustainable climate empowerment. Ecofeminism critiques patriarchal domination and promotes an ethics of care; Gadamerian hermeneutics emphasizes dialogical understanding and the fusion of horizons in interpreting ecological meaning; while Nasr’s ecotheology, rooted in tawhid, regards nature as āyāt (signs of God) and humanity as khalīfa (steward) entrusted to maintain creation. Integrating these perspectives, the study develops an ethical model for digital communication and Islamic environmental advocacy that fosters ecological justice, spiritual consciousness, and collective empowerment. The framework contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13, by emphasizing that digital ethics inspired by spiritual ecology can drive inclusive and sustainable climate action.

Abstract

Violence against journalists is no longer individual in nature, but has become a structural mechanism embedded in the public communication system, where political, economic, and ideological interests compete to dominate media narratives. This research aims to comprehensively reveal the phenomenon of media violence against journalists in Indonesia through the dimension of communication ethics. Practices of violence, terror, and intimidation such as the symbolic pig's head terror and the withdrawal of press IDs (administrative) indicate that pressure on journalists is multidimensional and systemic, reflecting the imbalance of power relations and a crisis of public ethics. Using descriptive qualitative methods with data sources from AJI reports, news, and literature studies, this research analyzes the phenomenon using the theoretical framework of Jurgen Habermas and Islamic Communication Ethics. The results show that the intimidation violates Habermas's principle of communicative rationality and explicitly rejects the Islamic command to speak the truth (Qaulun Sadidan) and to respect dignity (Qaulun Kariman). Thus, this research concludes that the crisis of press freedom in Indonesia is a crisis of communication ethics, while also providing practical recommendations for the enforcement of moral values.

Abstract

In the digital transformation era, Islamic broadcasting communication plays a strategic role in shaping public understanding of religion, promoting moral consciousness, and fostering spiritual resilience. This study aims to explore the position of Islamic broadcasting as a medium of digital da’wah and spiritual guidance that integrates counselling based ethical values. Employing a qualitative literature review approach, this research synthesizes scholarly works on Islamic communication, public relations, and Islamic counseling to build a comprehensive theoretical framework. The findings reveal that digital broadcasting functions not only as an instrument of information dissemination but also as a platform for ethical formation and emotional healing. By integrating empathy, sincerity, and dialogical interaction, Islamic broadcasting becomes more human centered, addressing both the intellectual and psychological dimensions of audiences. Furthermore, the study underscores that ethical broadcasting practices supported by Islamic values and counseling principles strengthen the credibility, inclusivity, and transformative power of da’wah in the digital era. The synthesis concludes that the collaboration between Islamic broadcasting and counseling perspectives provides a sustainable foundation for developing a holistic da’wah model that nurtures faith, ethics, and social well-being in the context of contemporary digital society.

Abstract

The digital era in Indonesia is marked by a significant shift in the political and social landscape, where social media plays a central role in democratic discourse. This article analyzes the complex interaction between religion, identity politics, and democracy in contemporary Indonesia within the digital context, employing a constructivist framework from International Relations theory. Social media has both empowered citizen participation and become a fertile ground for polarization and the instrumentalization of religion-based identity politics. The phenomenon of organized political “buzzers” represents a systematic manipulation of public discourse through the social construction of political realities, identities, and norms. Analysis reveals that buzzer culture operates by creating false intersubjectivity, manipulating identity formation, and normalizing toxic political practices. The polarization of religious issues on digital platforms contributes to horizontal social conflict and threatens social harmony. In response, this study proposes a paradigm shift from content-based to process-based regulation, focusing on dismantling coordinated inauthentic behavior rather than merely removing individual content. This research highlights the urgency of building digital democratic resilience through multi-stakeholder collaboration, platform accountability, and critical digital literacy that enables citizens to recognize and resist social construction processes employed by manipulative actors.

Abstract

Digital mental health has become one of the most urgent concerns for Generation Z in today’s society. Although studies on online stress and digital well-being continue to expand, few have explored how Islamic spiritual psychology can address the moral disorientation and identity confusion that young people experience in a highly connected digital world. The World Health Organization (2023) reports that one in seven adolescents worldwide faces mental-health challenges. In Indonesia, data from the Ministry of Health (2023) show that emotional and behavioral disorders rose from six percent in 2013 to nearly ten percent in 2023, affecting about twenty million people. A national survey by Jakpat (2024) found that six of ten Indonesian Gen Z youth often experience mood changes and that more than half struggle with sleep problems caused by digital pressure. These realities reflect what Émile Durkheim described as anomie, a state of moral disconnection and loss of meaning that increasingly characterizes the digital culture. This study constructs an integrative framework linking Durkheim’s sociological theory of anomie with the Islamic psychological concept of tazkiyat al-nafs or spiritual purification. Using conceptual library research and theoretical synthesis, it identifies three interrelated dimensions: moral awareness, emotional regulation, and spiritual resilience. The framework offers practical insights for educators, counselors, and Islamic learning institutions to strengthen digital ethics, spiritual intelligence, and emotional stability among youth, providing a faith-based perspective on contemporary mental-health challenges. This conceptual synthesis contributes to the development of an Islamic psychological framework that bridges moral theory and contemporary digital well-being studies

Abstract

This study investigates the socio-religious influence of religious organisations on corruption practices among youth in Ikere-Ekiti, Nigeria. While religious institutions are known to be the moral bedrock and guardians, their role extends to social environments that can shape youth behaviour. The research problem, therefore, centres on the potential of socio-religious organisations to mitigate or inadvertently foster ethical compromises among youth. This article employed a mixed-methods approach, using surveys distributed to a stratified random sample of 100 youths, along with oral interviews with selected youth leaders and religious clerics. The findings reveal that religious doctrines from all three major religions practised in the studied town condemn corruption and serve as a moral base that deters many youths from unethical behaviours. Also, socio-religious practices, such as the public worship of wealth, the pressure for flamboyant monetary contributions, and the use of religious networks for favouritism, are factors that subtly normalise corrupt tendencies. The study concludes that the influence of religious organisations in Ikere-Ekiti is deeply rooted in a socio-religious relationship where sacred teachings often interact with, and are sometimes dominated by, pervasive social pressures and materialistic aspirations. The article thus recommends that for interventions to be effective, religious bodies must consistently align their internal social cultures with their external moral pronouncements to nurture integrity among the youth.

Abstract

Adolescence is a crucial developmental phase characterized by significant emotional, social, and moral changes. In the digital era, adolescents face new challenges such as social pressure, anxiety, and a decline in psychological well-being due to excessive use of social media. One of the factors believed to strengthen psychological well-being is religiosity, which refers to the extent to which individuals believe in, internalize, and practice their religious teachings in daily life. This study aims to analyze the relationship between religiosity and adolescents’ psychological well-being in the digital era through a literature review approach. Data were collected from various national and international journals published between 2021 and 2025 using the Publish or Perish (PoP) application. After screening, 15 articles met the inclusion criteria and were relevant to the research topic. The analysis results consistently show a positive and significant relationship between religiosity and psychological well-being across all reviewed studies. Religiosity serves as a protective factor that helps adolescents develop positive emotions, gratitude, inner peace, and resilience in coping with life’s pressures in the digital era. Therefore, it can be concluded that enhancing religiosity through character education, spiritual development, and supportive social environments can be an effective strategy to strengthen adolescents’ psychological well-being holistically.
