Abstract

Marginalized communities often face structural barriers that hinder their access to the same resources, services, and opportunities as other communities. They tend to experience discrimination, oppression, and inequality in various aspects of life, making empowerment necessary to reduce such marginalization. This study aims to analyze indicators of marginalization in the community of Lhok Gajah Village through the perspectives of conflict, functionalism, interpretivism, and critical theory. The study employs a field research approach using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that agrarian conflicts in Lhok Gajah Village, Southwest Aceh, reflect the complexity of social, economic, and political dynamics involving various actors with differing interests. The conflict perspective highlights structural injustice in access to resources; functionalism views conflict as a threat to social stability; interpretive theory emphasizes social construction; while critical theory critiques structural injustice as the root of agrarian conflict in society.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the researcher’s interest in the Teras Ngabaca community’s concern for the education of children in the Kalijaga neighborhood. The Teras Ngabaca community’s concern for education stems from the observation that many children are not yet proficient readers. Thus, Teras Ngabaca serves as a facilitator for the community, helping to improve their quality of life by providing a space for non-formal education. This study aims to identify how the Teras Ngabaca community works to improve children’s literacy and empower the community in Kalijaga Village, Cirebon City. The research method used in this study is qualitative, employing a case study approach. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, documentation, and a literature review. The results show that the Teras Ngabaca community’s strategy for improving children’s literacy begins with an introduction to the alphabet, followed by the “Buku Bacalah” series (volumes 1–3), and then proceeds to storybooks or folktales. Teras Ngabaca also employs a one-on-one teaching strategy.

Abstract

Education plays a vital role in improving quality of life; however, access to education remains a challenge for some scavenger communities in TPA Supit Urang. This study explores intergenerational educational dynamics by examining the roles of families, communities, and educational institutions in shaping children's understanding of education. Using a phenomenological qualitative approach, this research involved 10 informants, including scavenger families, community leaders, and local school principals. The findings indicate that low educational participation among scavenger children is influenced not only by economic factors but also by cultural norms, social mindsets, and the lack of support from both the community and educational institutions. Therefore, a multi-level intervention involving families, communities, schools, and the government is necessary to create more inclusive educational access and break the cycle of poverty within the scavenger community. Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of youth digital activism in the #ReformasiDikorupsi and #TolakOmnibusLaw movements, focusing on the sustainability of the movements until 2025. Unlike previous studies, this research highlights the use of pop culture as a new resistance strategy. Using qualitative methods with purposive sampling techniques, this study analyzes 80 viral posts on the X (Twitter) platform collected in October-November 2025. The results of the study show three main findings. First, the use of satirical memes such as “Dewan Pertahanan Raja” (King's Defense Council) effectively delegitimizes political institutions. Second, the appropriation of K-Pop culture (such as EXO song lyrics) expands the reach of the issue to non-political demographics. Third, this movement is hybrid in nature, where digital content such as the symbolism of the “Rat Statue” is used to mobilize real action. This study concludes that youth digital activism has evolved into a living collective memory that is able to adapt to contemporary cultural trends.

Abstract

This study examines how cultural lag serves as the primary barrier to community participation in preventive health services at Posyandu Melati 6 in Cimanggu 2 Village. Cultural lag emerges when the modernization of posyandu through improved health facilities, digitalized reporting systems, and strengthened cadre capacity develops more rapidly than changes in community values, health knowledge, and behavioral practices. Using a qualitative approach through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, the findings show that low health literacy, curative-oriented mindsets, patriarchal norms, and fear of medical procedures are central drivers of this lag between material and nonmaterial cultural elements. To address these gaps, Posyandu Melati 6 implements adaptive strategies including door-to-door outreach, culturally sensitive communication, intensive assistance for high-risk medical cases, and multi-actor collaboration with neighborhood leaders, midwives, and the local health center. This study highlights that improving community participation relies heavily on the posyandu’s institutional capacity to navigate and mitigate the effects of cultural lag while strengthening social legitimacy and organizational resilience.

Abstract

The need for an effective transportation system has made the Commuter Line the primary mode of daily travel for Jakarta residents. Population growth and urban activities have led to increased passenger density, reflecting an urban mobility crisis. This study aims to analyze KRL congestion as a reflection of urban mobility issues and its impact on passenger comfort. The study focuses on the level of KRL congestion and its implications for user travel experiences. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of literature studies and the researcher's empirical experience as a KRL user in Jakarta. The results show that KRL congestion causes physical discomfort, psychological stress, and a decrease in travel quality. These findings confirm that KRL congestion is part of the structural challenges of urban mobility that require public transportation planning oriented towards user comfort.
