Abstract

The Village Community Service Program (Prosendi Desa) enters its second year of implementation in 2024 in Tegal Besar Subdistrict, Kaliwates District, Jember Regency. The key issues addressed are the need for support for micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in urban areas to obtain business legality and halal certification, aimed at fostering the development of the halal industry in Indonesia. The objective of this program is to assist MSEs in obtaining a Business Identification Number (NIB) in the first year and halal certification in the second year. The method used is the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach, involving socialization, counseling, and assistance. The implications of this program include the availability of a self-declare halal certification guidebook, comprehensive assistance for MSEs in the certification process, and the acceleration of halal certification compliance as targeted by the government. Additionally, the program increases the number of MSEs with NIBs and utilizes the Halal Clinic as an implementation of agency theory to support business development.

Abstract

People with disabilities still face various structural and systemic barriers in gaining equal access to economic and social services. In Cirebon Regency, the disabled community has begun developing social networks as an empowerment strategy, one of which is through the formation of Joint Business Groups. This study aims to examine how social networks are formed, managed, and utilized by the disabled community in an effort to achieve economic independence and social inclusion. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation within the disabled community in Durajaya Village, Cirebon Regency. The analysis was conducted thematically with reference to Putnam's social capital theory, which includes elements of trust, norms, and social networks as the foundation for bonding and bridging social capital. The results show that social networks play a crucial role in enhancing solidarity, opening access to resources, and encouraging constructive social transformation. However, limited marketing and external support remain major challenges. Therefore, cross-sector collaboration, capacity building, and inclusive policies are crucial factors in strengthening the sustainable empowerment of the disabled community.

Abstract

Banyuwangi Regency is located at the tip of East Java Island which has beautiful tourism and culture that can boost the community's economy. The purpose of this community service is to analyze the potential and provide education to the community regarding the importance of implementing a clean, healthy, safe, and comfortable life both in the family environment, work environment, and society through institutional strengthening. The location of the community service was carried out in Siliragung District which consists of five villages and monitoring was carried out once every six months every year. The results of the community service show that the institutions in the Healthy District Communication Forum in Siliragung District and the Healthy Village Working Group in Seneporejo, Siliragung, Kesilir, Buluagung, and Barurejo Villages have carried out activities that are in synergy with the Banyuwangi Regency government program, so that they can support in eradicating the problems in the area. However, there are weaknesses in the management of the Parangsemar tourist destination and sustainable waste management that need to be continuously accompanied and fully supported by each sector.

Abstract

Used cooking oil is a common type of household waste that is often disposed of carelessly and can harm the environment. Parit Baru Village, with its dense population, produces a large amounts of used cooking oil waste. Meanwhile, the role of PKK (Family Welfare Movement) as change agents in the community has not been fully utilized in managing such waste. Therefore, this program aims to empower PKK through training in making aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil waste, as a means to raise environmental awareness and create opportunities for creative economic activities. Using a Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) approach, this program involving technical training, discussions, and hands-on practice in processing used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles. Through this program, they become more aware of the dangers of throwing away used cooking oil carelessly and gain new skills in making aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil waste. The resulting products have economic potential and can help reduce household waste. Thus, this activity not only provides education but also opens up new business opportunities based on the creative economy, which is expected to encourage the creation of independent household-scale businesses that contribute to family welfare and environmental conservation.

Abstract

This reading and writing tutoring assistance program was implemented as an effort to overcome literacy difficulties experienced by upper-grade elementary students in Karang Anyar Village. Literacy problems, particularly in reading and writing skills, have become a serious concern as they directly affect students' academic performance and critical thinking abilities. The program was carried out using a participatory approach with tutoring methods tailored to the needs and skill levels of the students. The assistance was conducted regularly with materials focusing on improving reading comprehension and writing simple narratives. The results of the program showed an improvement in students' literacy skills, including reading fluency, comprehension of reading materials, and the ability to express ideas in written form. This program demonstrates that well-directed and continuous assistance can be an effective solution to address literacy challenges at the elementary school level, especially in rural areas such as Karang Anyar Village.

Abstract

The training program on processing tilapia into fish meatballs and its variation (pentol mercon) in Pulau Pedalaman Village, Mempawah Regency, was a collaboration between the KKM-PKM team of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Tanjungpura, and the official village program entitled Youth Empowerment in Developing Fisheries Innovation. This program aimed to enhance technical skills, creativity, and entrepreneurial motivation among local housewives, young women, and youth by utilizing local fishery potential. The implementation method used a Community Development (CD) approach with stages including preparation, field observation, demonstration-based training, and evaluation. The core participants consisted of 10 people who actively participated in the full practice session, supported by the involvement of youth and village officials. The results showed that all participants were able to apply the fish meatball making techniques, and new product ideas and simple marketing plans emerged. This activity contributed to improving community skills and utilizing tilapia as a home-based business opportunity.

Abstract

This community engagement program focuses on the socialization of Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) as a strategy to enhance financial literacy and income among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the ex-localization area of Bandar Baru, Sibolangit. The program was conducted as part of the Community Service (KKN) of Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara. The methods applied include observation, structured interviews, and direct mentoring to MSMEs, particularly in introducing QRIS as a digital payment system. The socialization activities emphasized the importance of digital financial literacy, practical training on QRIS usage, and awareness of consumer protection through the PEKA (Peduli, Kenali, Adukan) program. The findings revealed that prior to the program, only 13.3% of MSMEs had used QRIS, while after the intervention, 50% expressed interest and began registering for QRIS. Furthermore, participants demonstrated increased understanding of QRIS functions, technical skills in digital transactions, and more positive attitudes toward cashless payments. Although challenges remained, such as limited access to digital devices and weak internet connectivity, the program successfully promoted behavioral changes and provided new insights into digital finance. The results indicate that socialization through KKN is effective in improving financial literacy and encouraging digital transformation for MSMEs in rural communities.

Abstract

This community service aims to describe the process of dissemination and utilization of Animaker as an interactive learning media for the Alpha generation at SDN Wadas IV Karawang, as well as its impact on teacher competency and learning quality. The activity was carried out through a series of lectures, discussions, and practices involving 18 elementary school teachers in a workshop on the use of Animaker. Primary data were obtained from observations, pretest-posttest, discussion notes, and Animaker media products produced by teachers, while secondary data came from school documents and literature related to digital media and the Alpha generation. Descriptive analysis showed an increase in the average score of teachers from 72.77 (pretest) to 77.77 (posttest), which indicates a strengthening of teachers' knowledge and skills in designing and integrating animated visual media in learning. Teachers experienced a change in perception, from viewing animation as mere entertainment to a strategic pedagogical medium to bridge abstract concepts and learning characteristics of the Alpha generation. This study also identified the main obstacles in the aspects of ICT facilities, internet stability, and time constraints, while formulating strengthening strategies in the form of tiered training, a community of practitioners, and school policy support so that the implementation of Animaker is sustainable and can be replicated in other elementary schools.

Abstract

The increasing awareness of halal consumption among Muslim communities has made halal certification a crucial factor influencing consumer trust and competitiveness in the food industry, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This study aims to examine the role of halal certification in enhancing consumer confidence and improving the competitive advantage of food-based MSMEs in Cijurey Village. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method through interviews, fi eld observations, and document analysis with selected MSME owners and consumers. Findings reveal that halal certification not only strengthens consumer trust by ensuring product safety, cleanliness, and religious compliance, but also improves the market positioning of certified MSMEs, making them more competitive both locally and regionally. The certification process further motivates business owners to maintain higher production standards, expand market access, and meet broader consumer expectations. This study concludes that halal certification plays a strategic role in sustaining business growth and community welfare, while also serving as an effective instrument for increasing consumer loyalty. The implication of this research highlights the need for continuous support and facilitation of halal certification programs to empower rural-based MSMEs and improve the resilience of the local economy.

Abstract

This study aims to interpret the mentoring process in utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve scientific article writing skills in Indonesian language learning. The research employed Participatory Action Research (PAR) conducted through four stages: (1) Planning, which involved identifying students’ needs and designing training programs; (2) Action, which included technical training, writing practice, and article clinics; (3) Observation, focusing on participation, challenges, and skill development; and (4) Reflection, carried out through joint evaluation between mentors and students. The findings reveal that AI integration effectively supports students in enhancing grammar, text structure, citation management, and access to academic literature, while human mentoring plays a crucial role in fostering critical thinking, maintaining originality, and ensuring compliance with publication ethics. The implication highlights that the synergy between digital technology and pedagogical mentoring is highly effective in strengthening students’ academic literacy and preparing them for the demands of scientific publication in the digital era.
