Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of alkali treatment duration with NaOH on the tensile strength and physical properties of coconut fiber-reinforced composites. The method used in this study was experimental, with variations in the duration of alkali treatment: 1, 2, and 3 hours. A total of 15 specimens were used for tensile testing. The specimens were prepared by hand lay-up, and tensile testing was conducted according to ASTM D638. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and presented in tables and graphs. The results of this study indicate that the duration of alkali treatment on fibers can affect the tensile strength and physical properties of polyester composites reinforced with coconut fiber. The results of this study show that the highest tensile strength was obtained at an alkali treatment duration of 1 hour, with a value of 19.322 MPa, and the lowest tensile strength was obtained at 2 hours, with a value of 13.826 MPa. The highest elastic modulus was observed at an alkali treatment duration of 3 hours with a value of 16.842 MPa. The lowest elastic modulus was observed at an alkali treatment duration of 1 hour with a value of 12.857 MPa. The microstructure photos were consistent with the tensile strength, i.e., the fewer defects in the fracture, the higher the tensile strength.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the cardiovascular fitness of U16 soccer players using two measurement instruments: the Multi Fitness Test (MFT) and the Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test (YYIR1). The research method used is a descriptive quantitative approach, which allows numerical analysis of participants’ cardiovascular fitness characteristics. The analysis shows that the average MFT score was 44.2957, while the average YYIR1 score was 33.7477, indicating better cardiovascular fitness according to the MFT. In addition, the frequency distribution shows that 97% of participants were in the moderate category according to the MFT, while 93% were in the low category according to the YYIR1. This difference in results can be explained by the characteristics of each test, which measure different aspects of fitness; MFT focuses more on general endurance, while YYIR1 emphasizes aerobic capacity and recovery after intense activity. These findings highlight the importance of using multiple measurement instruments to evaluate cardiovascular fitness in young athletes. Thus, coaches can design more effective training programs tailored to the needs of U16 soccer players. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of more targeted training policies and help improve player performance and competitiveness on the field. This study also emphasizes the need to incorporate cardiovascular training into soccer programs to achieve optimal results.

Abstract

Sustainable transformation is key for MSMEs in the digital age, amid the complexity and technological developments that shorten business cycles. This study aims to explore the influence of social media on the sustainability of MSMEs in Yogyakarta, which increasingly rely on digital marketing through platforms such as Instagram. With more than 346 thousand MSMEs in Yogyakarta utilizing digital services, this study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method of 100 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using the partial least square structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) model. The results show that social media has a significant influence on the sustainability of MSMEs (t-statistic = 6.545, p < 0.001), increasing visibility, expanding market reach, and strengthening customer loyalty. These findings are in line with the importance of interactive digital marketing communication, where MSMEs can interact directly with consumers. This study recommends that MSMEs be more active in utilizing social media and that policymakers design digital training programs to improve marketing skills. Despite its limitations, such as its focus on Yogyakarta, this study confirms that effective use of social media can support the sustainability of MSMEs, with the right strategies to face challenges in the digital era.
