Abstract

This study investigates how Kalyan architectural ornament can be translated into avant-garde fashion through a structured design process and expert-based evaluation. Kalyan architecture in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, was selected because its dome form, repetitive geometry, ornamental surface, monumental verticality, and turquoise-silver visual identity provide a rich basis for experimental garment construction. The study used design-based research guided by the Double Diamond model, consisting of Discover, Define, Develop, and Deliver stages. Visual analysis of Kalyan architecture was conducted to identify transferable elements, which were synthesized into the design concept 'Eternal Geometry Kalyan.' The concept was developed through a moodboard, five design alternatives, selected design refinement, technical drawings, material exploration, and garment construction using mikado liquid fabric, organza, circular support, flounces, smock, and fabric-cording manipulation. The final product was assessed by three fashion experts using six criteria: avant-garde silhouette, concept suitability, creativity and innovation, symbolic translation, material and technique, and runway visual appearance. Descriptive analysis produced an overall mean score of 3.42 on a five-point scale, placing the garment in the good category. Material and technique achieved the highest score (4.00), while creativity and innovation and symbolic translation each obtained 2.70. The findings demonstrate that architectural ornament can become a generative fashion system when transformed through visual abstraction, material experimentation, structural construction, and reflective evaluation. The study contributes a practical model for architecture-inspired avant-garde fashion design and identifies areas for stronger symbolic communication in future prototypes.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) simulate a 130-ton hoist frame structure using the Finite Element Analysis method, (2) analyze the distribution of stress, strain, and deformation occurring in the hoist frame structure based on the simulation results, and (3) determine the safety factor for each design variation and determine the most optimal design based on the simulation results. This study used the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) method using ANSYS Mechanical software to analyze the behavior of the hoist frame structure under a static load of 130 tons. The research stages included three-dimensional modeling of the hoist frame structure, meshing, selecting the material, boundary conditions, static loading, and static structural simulation to obtain stress, strain, deformation, and safety factor distributions. The model variations analyzed included the original frame, a frame with stiffener plate, a frame with haunch plate, and a combination of a haunch plate and stiffener plate. The structural material used SS400 structural steel based on the JIS G3101 standard. The results show that the FEA-based simulation is capable of displaying the stress, strain, deformation, and safety level distributions in detail. The addition of a stiffener plate and haunch plate is proven to reduce the maximum stress and increase the safety factor. The combined haunch and stiffener plate model produces the best performance, with a maximum stress of 127.29 MPa, a maximum strain of 0.00066711 mm/mm, a maximum deformation of 0.7801 mm, and a minimum safety factor of 1.8461.

Abstract

Type This study examines the effect of Wedang Uwuh consumption on mood after a SPA treatment. A quasi-experimental design compared two groups: a control group (K1) receiving SPA only and a treatment group (K2) receiving SPA plus Wedang Uwuh. Forty women aged 20–50 were evenly assigned to the two groups. Mood was assessed using a 10-item observation questionnaire scored on a 0–3 scale; total scores were categorized as low (0–9), moderate (10–20), and good (21–30). Results showed that in K1, 60% were in the good category and 40% in the moderate category; in K2, 90% were good and 10% moderate. No respondents fell into the low category in either group. These findings confirm that traditional SPA treatment improves mood, while the addition of Wedang Uwuh provides a more meaningful enhancement. Conclusion: Post-SPA consumption of Wedang Uwuh is effective in improving mood compared with SPA alone. Recommendation: Integrate this traditional herbal beverage into SPA services to strengthen relaxation, enrich the treatment experience, and preserve local wisdom. The implication is that culture-based SPA programs become more valuable for both clients and the community.
