Abstract

Advances in digital technology are driving innovation in more interactive learning media that meet the needs of 21st-century students. One medium with the potential to support biology learning is the interactive flipbook-based e-booklet. This article aims to examine the potential of flipbook-based interactive e-booklets as a biology learning medium through a literature review. The method applied in this research is a literature review by analyzing various relevant library sources, including 10 articles published between 2022 and 2026 that meet the criteria in accordance with the research objectives. Research findings indicate that the interactive flipbook-based e-booklet developed across various studies achieved an average validity level ranging from 85% to 98.19% in terms of content feasibility, language, presentation, and graphics, as well as an average practicality level between 84% and 97.73%. These results demonstrate that the interactive flipbook-based e-booklet meets the criteria for validity and practicality, making it suitable for use as a biology learning medium. Consequently, this study provides a scientific foundation that the interactive flipbook-based e-booklet is a valid and practical alternative for biology education, supporting more effective and meaningful learning.

Abstract

Learning Science and Social Studies (IPAS) on the water cycle topic in elementary schools still faces several challenges, including teacher-centered learning and limited learning media that can concretely visualize abstract concepts. This study aims to develop SI Air (Water Cycle), a 3D diorama-based learning media for fifth-grade elementary school students. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research instruments included validation sheets from media experts and material experts, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning outcome tests through pre-test and post-test. The results showed that the developed media obtained a validity score of 92.2% (very valid), practicality score of 98.09% (very practical), and an N-Gain score of 0.77 (high category). Student learning outcomes increased from an average pre-test score of 44.40 to a post-test score of 87.63. These results indicate that SI Air 3D Diorama learning media has good validity and practicality and shows potential to support students’ understanding of the water cycle topic. Further research involving larger samples and comparison groups is recommended to confirm its effectiveness.

Abstract

The low science learning outcomes of students on the subject of motion and force is a problem that requires an appropriate solution, namely in the form of contextual learning innovations that are relevant to students' lives. This study aims to see the effect of the use of ethnoscience-based Student Worksheets (LKPD) integrated with the Mappatettong Bola tradition on the science learning outcomes of junior high school students. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental type and a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The study population was all seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Marioriawa in the 2025/2026 Academic Year, totaling four tens participant educate and all were sampled using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using pretest and posttest tests, then analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results showed that the use of ethnoscience-based student worksheets had a significant effect on student learning outcomes (p = 0.035). In addition, the N-Gain analysis showed that the increase in learning outcomes in the experimental class was higher than in the control class with a moderate category. Thus, ethnoscience-based student worksheets integrated with the Mappatettong Bola tradition have an effect on improving students' science learning outcomes.

Abstract

This Research and Development (R&D) study using the Borg & Gall model is limited to the third stage to design an assessment system integrated with learning to improve students' Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and learning mastery. Preliminary observations on Fluid mechanics at SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Sikaping revealed that school evaluation instruments predominantly measured low-level cognitive aspects (C1-C2), resulting in a classical student mastery rate of only 53%. The needs analysis questionnaire indicated high urgency: 92% of teachers need independent HOTS instruments for Fluid mechanics, 88% require supporting assessments for the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model, and 80% of students prefer varied questions based on contextual cases. As a solution, a test instrument containing 30 essay questions covering five sub-materials of static and dynamic fluids was developed based on the six syntaxes of PBL. Validity test results fell into the "Very High" category, with Aiken's V Index values consistently exceeding the 0.80 threshold across content (0.921), construct (0.907), language (0.956), and additional rules (1.000) aspects. It is concluded that this PBL-based HOTS assessment instrument is highly valid and feasible as a reliable alternative evaluation tool to measure and optimize high school students' analysis, evaluation, and creation skills.
