Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the implementation of on the job training program in the Department of Cookery of Balikpapan State Polytechnic in terms of its relevance with the practical courses, the role of the program to improve the students' skills and the job descriptions of the program. This study is descriptive quantitative. The subjects of this study were 37 students of the Department of Cookery, Balikpapan State Polytechnic. The data collection techniques used questionnaires, interviews and documentations. The data analysis method used descriptive statistics. The results of the study revealed most of the students agree that the practical courses are relevant with the needs of the job training program with the mean scores of 4.2, the program improves the students’ skills with the mean scores of 4.3, the specific works assigned are related to their field of study with the mean scores of 4.1 and most of the students are responsible for preparing guests’ order with the mean scores of 4,0. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pelaksanaan program Praktik Kerja Lapangan (PKL) di Jurusan Tata Boga Politeknik Negeri Balikpapan yang meliputi relevansi mata kuliah praktik dengan program PKL, peranan program PKL dalam peningkatan kompetensi mahasiswa, dan deskripsi kerja pada program PKL. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Seluruh subjek (responden) penelitian ini menjadi sampel penelitian. Subjek penelitian tersebut yaitu mahasiswa semester VI Jurusan Tata Boga Politeknik Negeri Balikpapan berjumlah 37 mahasiswa. Metode pengumpulan data dengan cara penilaian angket, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisa data yang digunakan yaitu analisa deskriptif statistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata mahasiswa setuju (4,2) bahwa muatan mata kuliah praktik relevan dengan kebutuhan program PKL. Program PKL membantu dalam meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa dengan nilai rata-rata 4,3. Rata-rata mahasiswa diberikan jenis pekerjaan yang sesuai dengan bidang di tempat kerja dengan nilai rata-rata 4,1. Dan mahasiswa diberikan kepercayaan lebih dalam membuat pesanan tamu dengan nilai rata-rata  4,0.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan: peran, strategi, pencapaian tujuan, dan kendala yang dihadapi bursa kerja khusus yang dilakukan oleh sekolah dalam rangka penempatan lulusan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif, di mana data dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi dan dengan para pengelola program bursa kerja khusus. Keabsahan data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dan triangulasi. Analisis data menggunakan statistik deskriptif, kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Bursa Kerja Khusus di sekolah menengah kejuruan cukup berperan dalam usaha penempatan lulusan untuk bekerja, hal ini dilaksanakan melalui kegiatan penyuluhan bimbingan karir, magang di industri, seleksi dan penempatan lulusan di industri, (2) penempatan lulusan menggunakan strategi rekrutmen tertutup, yaitu melalui komunikasi langsung dengan perusahaan, baik dalam hal informasi lowongan, persyaratan, seleksi dan penempatan. (3) Bursa Kerja Khusus di SMK dapat mencapai tujuan dengan baik, yaitu dapat menempatkan lulusan untuk bekerja dengan persentase lebih dari 60%, 4) Kendala yang dihadapi Bursa Kerja Khusus berupa kendala manajerial seperti pendanaan, personel, komunikasi dan promosi. Kendala yang lain berupa kendala budaya dari lulusan yang tidak mau mencatatkan diri sebagai pencari kerja, tidak melaporkan diri setelah mendapatkan pekerjaan, lulusan segan untuk bekerja di luar daerah, lulusan masih pilih-pilih pekerjaan, lulusan belum mengenal secara mendalam perusahaan yang akan dilamar.

Abstract

This study aims at: (1) producing a learning module of Computer Numerically Control (CNC) GSK 983 machines to enhance the students’ learning outcomes, (2) investigating the learning process of CNC GSK 983 machines in vocational schools, (3) analyzing the effectiveness of the developed module in vocational schools. This study refers to the research procedure of design and development by Richey and Klein consisting of (1) observations of learning and products development, (2) internal and external validation, and (3) testing the effectiveness of the product in the field. The data was analyzed using T-Test. The results showed that: (1) the CNC learning outcomes in Vocational Schools did not meet the expectation; (2) learning modules of CNC GSK 983 to enhance the students’ learning outcomes was developed, and (3) the developed module was effective to enhance the students’ learning outcomes. The results of the t-test showed that there was a significant difference between the learning outcomes with the module and the learning outcomes without the module. It means that the module can improve the students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari aktivitas protein hasil translasi gen a-galaktosidase dari Bacillus halodurans famili 27 glikosida hidrolase dengan cara mengamati pengaruh penambahan protein terhadap kekentalan larutan guar gum. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen. a-Galaktosidase adalah enzim yang mengkatalisasi hidrolisis ikatan a-1,6-galaktosida dari terminal non-reducing pada oligosakarida, liposakarida dan/atau polisakarida yang mengandung galaktosa. Protein rekombinan yang diekspresikan oleh gen  agalaktosidase BH1870 Bacillus halodurans dipurifikasi menggunakan His-binding metal affinity chromatography. Uji aktivitas dilakukan dengan menggunakan substrat guar gum pada beberapa interval suhu, yaitu 37, 45, 55 dan 65o C. Enzim ini mampu menghidrolisa guar gum pada suhu 37 oC, yang ditunjukkan dengan penurunan kekentalan larutan guar gum.  Namun, enzim ini tidak stabil pada suhu yang lebih besar dari 37 oC. Beberapa residu asam amino yang dianggap penting bagi aktivitas hidrolisis enzim famili 27 ternyata tidak terdapat pada B. halodurans a-galaktosidase. Ketiadaan residu ini mungkin dapat mempengaruhi kestabilan enzim pada suhu tinggi. Untuk membuktikan asumsi ini, diperlukan studi lanjut tentang site-directed mutagenesis pada residu-residu ini.

Abstract

Based on case studies that have been conducted in SMK Pertanian Pembangunan Negeri Lembang, waste treatment subjects still used a conventional method, and the students were less enthusiastic in the learning process. Therefore, the implementation of more interactive learning models such as blended learning with Edmodo is one of alternative models to resolve the issue thus the purpose of this study is to formulate the appropriate learning syntax for the implementation of blended learning with Edmodo to agree the requirement characteristics of students and waste treatment subject and explain the learning outcome obtained by students in the cognitive, affective and psychometric aspects on the subjects of waste treatment. This study was conducted by the method of classroom action research (CAR) with a Mc. Tagart model. The results of this study concluded that the implementation of blended learning with Edmodo on the subjects of waste treatment can improve the students’ learning outcomes in the cognitive, affective and psychometric aspects with the maximum increase in the value of N-gain 0.82, as well as students’ learning completeness criteria reached 100% in cycle 2. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendapatkan unjuk kerja yang baik tentang simulasi pengendalian multiproses industri menggunakan Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) sebagai sarana dan bahan ajar Praktik Instalasi Listrik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan yang terdiri atas analisis kebutuhan, perancangan, pembuatan atau implementasi, pengujian unjuk kerja dan perbaikan serta finishing. Pengumpulan data dengan cara observasi. Instrumen yang digunakan antara lain multimeter Sanwa, ceklist deskripsi kerja sarana praktik, angket validasi ahli media, ahli materi dan mahasiswa terhadap kelayakan sarana praktik serta labsheet. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa diperoleh simulasi pengendalian multiproses industri menggunakan PLC sebagai sarana praktik dan bahan ajar (labsheet) pada Praktik Instalasi Listrik yang mempunyai unjuk yang baik diantaranya: (1) simulasi pengendalian multiproses industri menggunakan PLC sebagai sebagai sarana praktik mempunyai deskripsi kerja yang sesuai dengan perencanaan; (2) Hasil pengamatan kelayakan simulasi pengendalian multiproses industri menggunakan PLC sebagai sarana praktik oleh ahli materi, ahli media dan mahasiswa diperoleh hasil rata-rata total sebesar 2,89 atau 72,25% dalam kategori baik serta (3) Hasil pengamatan kelayakan simulasi pengendalian multiproses industri menggunakan PLC sebagai bahan ajar (labsheet) oleh ahli materi, ahli media dan mahasiswa diperoleh skor rata-rata total sebesar 2,85 atau 71,25% yang masuk dalam kategori baik.

Abstract

Technological advances have made possible to reduce limitation of space and time in learning. Students can interact with teachers and other students indirectly without face to face meetings through e-learning media. To create effective e-learning media, factors to be mainly considered are multimedia learning principles, one of which is contiguity. Thus, this study was aimed at developing e-learning media with the contiguity principle and examining its quality. The media were tested for measuring its effectiveness by statistically analyzing the differences in students’ learning achievement and motivation. This study was research and development using quasi experimental techniques whose subject is Vocational High School also known as Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Negeri 2 Yogyakarta. The result of this study was e-learning media with the contiguity principle. The feasibility evaluation showed that the product had good quality in the aspects of media and materials. The effectiveness testing showed insignificant differences in learning achievement and motivation between the students using e-learning media with the contiguity principle and without the contiguity principle with the scores of 0.325 and 0.873 respectively.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui: (a) ranking skor rerata dimensi kompetensi kewirausahaan industri dan mahasiswa, (b) kesenjangan kompetensi kewirausahaan antara industri dan mahasiswa, dan (c) konstuk kompetensi kewirausahaan. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif evaluatif yang dilakukan pada bulan Desember 2007 sampai dengan Maret 2008. Sumber data penelitian adalah 116 orang mahasiswa yang sedang melaksanakan Praktik Industri (PI). Data dikumpulkan dengan cara observasi. Subjek yang diobservasi adalah tenaga kerja industri setingkat pemilik, manajer, supervisor dan kepala produksi. Keabsahan hasil observasi dikendalikan dengan cara beberapa orang mahasiswa mengamati subjek yang sama. Perilaku subjek yang tidak muncul selama observasi, digali informasinya dari karyawan. Data kesenjangan kompetensi kewirausahaan diperoleh dengan membandingkan hasil observasi dan refleksi diri mahasiswa. Analisis data dilakukan dengan cara deskriptif menggunakan ranking skor, diagram garis dan Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rerata kompetensi kewirausahaan industri selalu lebih tinggi dari rerata kompetensi kewirausahaan mahasiswa. Ranking rerata skor kompetensi kewirausahaan tertinggi terletak pada kompetensi sosial. Industri dan mahasiswa memiliki kesenjangan kompetensi kewirausahaan terdapat pada dimensi kompetensi manajerial, kepemimpinan, bisnis dan administrasi. Kewirausahaan dibangun dari indikator kompetensi manajerial, konseptual, teknis produksi, sosial, komunikasi, dan sikap kerja.

Abstract

This study was aimed to identify the profiles of teachers' expertise and professional development in Technology and Engineering Expertise Program (TEEP) of Vocational Secondary Schools (VSSs). This study was conducted with a survey approach. The population consisted of 1025 teachers of TEEP at VSSs in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The samples were 280 teachers selected with proportional random sampling. Data were collected by an open-ended questionnaire and analyzed with a descriptive method. Results of the study identified the profiles of expertise that included the majority of teacher’s employment status is government employees and scanty non-government employees. The range of working time is mostly from 7 and 18 years. Teachers mostly participate in the teachers’ certification through the professional teachers training program.  A few number of the teachers have the additional expertise certificates, and none of the teachers has the dual expertise certificates. Furthermore, types of the teachers’ professional development activities that followed by most of the teachers are seminars, journals, learning media, and participating as members of teachers association.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were: (1) to determine learning styles, self-efficacy and learning intensity of the students in the course of Instrumentation Practicum, and (2) to analyse their correlation through the Site Visit Survey Learning. This study employed the ex-post facto method. The descriptive analysis of the data revealed: (1) the students’ learning styles showed an inclination to dominant accommodative, the students’ self-efficacy were mostly categorised as high with the percentages of 56%. The students’ learning intensity categorised as high and  low were 36% and 32% respectively; and (2) there is a positive and significant correlation between self-efficacy and learning intensity with the coefficient of  0.446 (p = 0.025). The learning style of Active Experimentation (AE) has a positive but not significant correlation with the learning intensity with the coefficient of 0.305 (p = 0.139). While the learning styles of Reflective Observation (RO),Concrete Experience (CE) and Abstract Conceptualisation (AC)  have the coefficients of correlation  with  learning intensity  that were r = ̶ 0.305 with p = 0.139, r = ̶ 0.061 with p = 0.771 and r = + 0.061 with p = 0.771 respectively.
