Abstract

Student confidence is one of the important aspects in the academic and social development of students. Low self-confidence can cause students to feel doubtful about their abilities, be passive in learning, find it difficult to express opinions, and be less able to develop their potential. This study aims to present the results of a literature study on the influence of cognitive modeling strategies on strengthening student confidence. The research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study design or literature study. Data were obtained from various scientific journals, research articles, and relevant literature sources that discuss student confidence and cognitive modeling strategies in guidance and counseling services as well as learning. The results of the study show that cognitive modeling strategies have a positive influence in helping students build confidence in their own abilities through the process of observation, imitation of positive behavior, and strengthening adaptive mindsets. This strategy is considered effective because it provides concrete examples to students on how to think, behave, and act positively in dealing with various academic and social situations.

Abstract

English movies have become one of the media used in English language learning, particularly to support reading activities. They can provide correct language input and increase students’ interest in learning English. The purpose of this study was to investigate the use of English movies on students’ responses in teaching reading. This study employed a descriptive quantitative research design. The participants of the study were twenty-eight tenth-grade students from a private senior High School, consisting of ten males and eighteen females. The data of this study were analyzed by using thematic analysis. The research results show that overall, many students responded positively to English movies in their reading learning activities. Students believed that films could help foster a strong interest in reading, increase vocabulary, and enhance their understanding of English text. However, some students struggled with context, accent, and unfamiliar vocabulary. In conclusion, English movies can be a more enjoyable learning medium for reading instruction. Although there are still many challenges to overcome, they can foster a strong interest in reading and motivate students.

Abstract

This study was conducted based on the low level of students’ underhand service skills in volleyball, which affected learning outcomes in Physical Education. The purpose of this research was to improve students’ underhand service skills through the implementation of the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages conducted in cycles. The research subjects were 29 seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Ponelo Kepulauan, Gorontalo Utara, Gorontalo. Data were collected through observation, practical skill tests, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis by calculating learning mastery percentages in each cycle. The results showed a gradual improvement in students’ underhand service skills and learning participation after the implementation of the TPS model. The discussion indicated that collaborative interaction and structured learning stages in TPS contributed to improving students’ technical skills and engagement. In conclusion, the Think Pair Share model effectively enhanced students’ underhand volleyball service skills and created a more active and meaningful learning process. This research aims to improve the underhand volleyball serve skills of seventh-grade students through the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach. In the pre-cycle, only 12 out of 29 students (41%) achieved the Minimum Competency Criterion (MCC) with an average score of 68. After Cycle I, mastery increased to 19 students (66%) with an average of 74, although the sharing stage remained challenging. In Cycle II, 25 students (86%) achieved mastery with an average of 82, supported by improved discussion activities and feedback. The implementation of TPS proved effective in increasing learning mastery from 41% to 86% and the average score from 68 to 82.

Abstract

The number of blind people in Indonesia has reached 4.2 million, but only around 5,048 people are able to read the Al-Quran. Therefore, the implementation of braille flashcard media is used as a learning method that can improve the ability to read the Al-Quran in the first stage for the blind. This research aims to find out more about the implementation of braille flashcard media in improving the Al-Quran reading skills of blind students at the Netra Mandiri Palembang Foundation. This research uses qualitative research methods with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research results show that the use of braille flashcard media can improve the ability to read the Al-Quran for blind students. The stages in implementing braille flashcard media include making learning plans, identifying and grouping students, determining learning materials, preparing braille flashcards, determining presentation methods and strategies, up to the implementation stage of braille flashcards themselves. The supporting and inhibiting factors that influence the implementation of braille flashcard media include teacher dedication and responsibility, religious programs that increase learning motivation, environmental factors (comfortable place to study, availability of stationery, complete reading materials, a pleasant learning atmosphere, discipline in study time, as well as good company), and parental support.
