Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan keterampilan berbicarasiswa kelas VIII A SMP Islam Al Azhar 26 Yogyakarta melalui penerapan penilaianautentik. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan model Kemmisdan Mc. Taggart. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam bentuk siklus yang berisi empat tahapyaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data yangdigunakan adalah observasi, catatan lapangan, wawancara, tes keterampilan berbicara, dankuesioner motivasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) perhatian, peran aktif,dan antusiasme siswa dalam pembelajaran berbicara mencapai lebih dari 75%, (2) terjadipeningkatan skor rata-rata keterampilan berbicara siswa dari tahap pratindakan sebesar34,5 menjadi 63 pada siklus I dan 73,8 pada siklus II, (3) terjadi peningkatan skor rataratamotivasi dan distribusi kategori motivasi berbicara. Tahap pratindakan skor rata-ratamotivasi berbicara 62 menjadi 72 pada siklus I, dan 75,12 pada siklus II. Lebih lanjut siswayang memiliki motivasi berbicara kategori tinggi meningkat, semula berjumlah 1 padatahap pratindakan menjadi 9 siswa pada siklus I dan 12 pada siklus II. Sementara itu, padasiklus II siswa yang berkategori motivasi berbicara rendah tidak lagi ditemui.Kata Kunci: penilaian otentik, motivasi siswa, interaksi siswa, berbicara

Abstract

impacts on the development of the languages used by the community concerned.One of the impacts is language shift. Factors that are conducive to language shiftare varied. One of these factors is language attitude. Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki empat tujuan. Tujuan pertama untuk mengetahui hubungan minat membaca terhadap keterampilan berpidato siswa, kedua hubungan penguasaan kosakata terhadap keterampilan berpidato siswa, ketiga hubungan nilai rapor terhadap keterampilan berpidato siswa, dan keempat hubungan minat membaca, penguasaan kosakata, dan nilai rapor terhadap keterampilan berpidato siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian ex post facto jenis korelasional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX SMP N di Kabupaten Magelang. Pengambilan data menggunakan cluster sampling (area sampling), stratified random sampling, dan cluster random sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket, tes pilihan ganda, dokumentasi, dan tes pidato. Analisis data menggunakan teknik regresi sederhana dan regresi berganda. Hasil menunjukkan (1) minat membaca berhubungan dengan positif dan signifikan keterampilan berpidato, (2) penguasaan kosakata berhubungan dengan positif dan signifikan keterampilan berpidato, (3) nilai rapor berhubungan dengan positif dan signifikan keterampilan berpidato (4) minat membaca, penguasaan kosakata, dan nilai rapor secara bersama-sama berhubungan signifikan dengan keterampilan berpidato.Kata Kunci: minat membaca, penguasaan kosakata, nilai rapor, keterampilan berpidato  THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE READING INTEREST, VOCABULARY MASTERY, AND REPORT OF RESULT STUDY AND THE SPEECH DELIVERING SKILLS OF GRADE IX STUDENTS  ABSTRACTThe research has four purposes. The first objective to know the relationship between students' reading interest and their speech delivering skills, second the relationship between students' vocabulary mastery and their speech delivering skills, third the relationship between students' report of result study and their speech delivering skills, and forth the relationship between students' reading interest, vocabulary mastery, and report of result study as an aggregate and their speech delivering skills. This was an ex-post facto study correlational. The research population comprised Grade IX students of public junior high schools (JHSs) in Magelang Regency. The research sample was from three schools selected by means of the cluster sampling (area sampling), stratified random sampling, and cluster random sampling. Data collection using a questionnaire, multiple choice test, documentation, and speech delivering test. The data were analyzed by simple regression and multiple regression. The results of the study show that: (1) the reading interest has a significant positive relationship with the speech delivering skills, (2) the vocabulary mastery has a significant positive relationship with the speech delivering skills, (3) the report of result study have a significant positive relationship with the speech delivering skills, and (4) the reading interest, vocabulary mastery, and report of result study as an aggregate have a significant relationship with the speech delivering skills.Keywords: reading interest, vocabulary mastery, report of result study, speech delivering skills

Abstract

Main Street merupakan salah satu karya terbaik Sinclair Lewis yang penuh nilai-nilai sosial di Amerika terutama mengenai eksistensi diri, feminisme, dan individualisme yang dialami si tokoh utama pada awal abad ke-20. Latar belakang keluarga, lingkungan, serta pendidikan yang diterimanya menjadikan dirinya seorang individualis yang mempunyai pola pikir berbeda dari lingkungannya. Dalam interaksinya dengan lingkungan barunya, yaitu desa Gopher Prairie, Carol Kennicott, si tokoh utama mengalami berbagai benturan yang seringkali berujung pada konflik. Puncak individualisme Carol adalah saat ia memutuskan meninggalkan masyarakat Gopher Prairie dan suaminya untuk mencari kehidupan baru di kota besar yang dianggapnya lebih sesuai dengan cita-citanya. Meski demikian di satu sisi ambiguitas juga muncul dalam dirinya saat ia berada dalam kebimbangan dan akhirnya memutuskan kembali ke masyarakat dan keluarganya. Lewis menggambarkan bahwa individu tidak bisa dipisahkan dari masyarakat karena individu selalu terikat pada norma dan aturan di mana ia tinggal, terlebih jika norma dan aturan itu telah turun temurun. Masyarakat akan melakukan "tekanan" terhadap orang yang membelot dari norma dan aturan mereka sehingga orang tersebut akan tunduk atau setidaknya melenturkan ideologinya. Abstract

Abstract (Title: Application of Cooperative Script Learning Model to Improve the Activities of Students in PPKn Learning in MTsN 4 Gunungkidul). This study aims to describe the application of cooperative script learning models to increase the activity of students in learning PPKn material position and function of the Pancasila class VIIIA MTsN 4 Gunungkidul. The population of this study was all students of class VIII A MTsN 4 Gunungkidul in Gunungkidul Regency with a total of 34 children. All members of the population are used as research samples. Data collection is done by observation. This observation is carried out to monitor the process and impact of learning needed to organize corrective measures to be more effective and efficient. Observation is focused on the process and results of the learning action along with the events that surround it. The results of the study showed that students' activities in learning had shown high participation, students were able to build cooperation in groups to solve problems faced. Students are able to solve problems, answer questions, present work results well. This shows the activity of students towards subjects is quite high with an average of 55% before the action becomes 76% in the first cycle and becomes 87% in the second cycle. Students' responses to the subjects of Education Authority turned out to be influenced by the learning model used by the teacher. This can be seen from the results which show an increase from the first cycle of 76.9% to 92.3% in the second cycle.Keywords: activity, cooperatif script, participation, Pancasila

Abstract

This article is about a research with the objective of discovering a modelfor a course book based on contextual instruction for junior high school classes ofIndonesian. To achieve the objective, in the first phase of the research, that is, in thefirst year, 2007, the research had the specific objective of discoveringmanifestations of contextual instruction to serve as starting points in developingthe model. The research subjects consisted of (1) class instruction, (2) students,and (3) course books of Indonesian.The research results indicated the following. (1) When a constructivestrategy is used, the contextual manifestations are, among others, simpleformulations of objectives, uses of operational verbs, the appearance of themes,the mapping of new experiences, an appropriateness of the strategy and methodfrom the point of objectives and learners' characteristics, and language suitability.(2) When an inquiry strategy is used, the manifestations are, among others, a matchbetween objectives and thematic basic competency indicators, consideration oflearners' needs, appropriate selection of media, appropriateness of the strategy andmethod from the point of learners' needs, hypothesis confirmation or testing, andgain of new experience. (3) When a question-and-answer strategy is used, themanifestations are, among others, apperception, questions and answers,encouragement through questions, and asking resource persons questions. (4)When a modeling strategy is used, the manifestations consist of imitation, givingexamples, making use of examples, and variety of examples. (5) When a learningcommunitystrategy is used, the manifestations consist of the discovery of newexperience, problem-solving through group work, development of selfdependenceas well as collaborative work, communication of learning results toothers, communication of works to others, and ethical formation. (6) When anauthentic-assessment strategy is used, the manifestations consist of variety inmethod of assessment, presentation of work, and work performance. (7) When areflection strategy is used, the manifestations consist of linking learning resultswith benefits for learners, self-development, expansion of experience, pursuit ofmeaning, creation of a feeling of pleasure, support of what one dreams to achieve,and creation of motivation. (8) The anatomy of the course book consists of (a) theintroduction, containing the title of the book, preface, table of contents, andorganization of content, (b) the content, containing the material, materialpresentation, and strategy of presentation, and (c) the conclusion, containing theevaluation, reflection, bibliography, index, and relevant answer keys.Keywords: course book, contextual manifestations and strategies
