Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of individual needs on subjective well-being employees in the PPKGBK office (Center for Management of the Bung Karno Complex). This research uses a quantitative approach involving 161 PPKGB employees. Sampling was carried out using probability sampling with accidental sampling technique. The author uses a measuring instrument namely The Modified BBC Subjective Well-Being Scale (BBC-SWB) developed by Kinderman, Schwannauer, Pontin & Tai (2011). The data analysis technique used to answer the research question is multiple regression analysis. Based on the results of the major hypothesis test, the first conclusion obtained from this study is that there is a significant influence between individual needs on subjective well-being of employees at the headquarters of the Bung Karno complex management. Then, based on the results of the minor hypothesis test there are two variables whose regression coefficient values are significant namely: abasement dan achievement, while 14 other variables were not significant.

Abstract

The desire for achievement creates motivation within the individual, where achievement motivation comes because of the need for achievement, which includes the desire to achieve success, complete difficult tasks, face challenges, and the desire to exceed others. This research aims to investigate whether peer comparison will affect achievement motivation as a manifestation of their need for achievement. This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design with two groups pre-test and post-test. A purposive sampling technique was utilized in this study, with the criteria of female and male senior high school students aged between 15-18 years old who have low scores in achievement motivation.  Participants in the experimental group will receive daily reports containing learning evaluations including the full scores and list of top ten students with the highest scores for six days. Achievement motivation was measured using the achievement motivation scale by Prihandrijani. Based on the results of the Wilcoxon test which was carried out after being given treatment, it was found that there was a significant difference in the subject's pre-test and post-test scores on the experimental group's achievement motivation with a value of p < .05. While in the control group, there was no significant difference seen from the value of p > .05. On the results of the Mann-Whitney test to see differences in achievement motivation in the experimental group and the control group, the value of p < .05 was obtained so that it can be concluded that giving treatment in the form of peer comparisons can influence individual achievement needs. This study result provides a new contribution to research related to achievement motivation and peer comparison which has been carried out using cross-sectional or observational methods.

Abstract

Prioritising mental well-being in the workplace helps promote a productive and healthy working environment. Stress is one of the main determinants of mental well-being in employees. Stress caused by daily challenges at work will impact mental well-being. In modern times, there is an increasing acceptance of stressful conditions and mental health issues. Mindfulness is one of the ways to improve mental well-being and buffer stress in employees. This study examines the effect of mindfulness on mental well-being by considering the mediating role of perceived stress in employees working on a shift system. This study is motivated by the high risk of mental health disorders in shift workers due to irregular work patterns, high workload, and lack of recovery time. This study used three psychological instruments: the mindfulness scale (FFMQ), the perceived stress scale (PSS), and the mental well-being scale (WEMWBS), including 540 respondents from company X in Medan City, and using the SEM-PLS 4.0 method. The results showed that mindfulness significantly improved mental well-being (β=.388, p<.005) and reduced perceived stress (β=-.493, p<.005), whereas perceived stress was shown to decrease mental well-being (β=-.174, p<.05). The crucial finding showed that perceived stress was a partial mediator (β=.086, p<.05). Theoretically, this study enriches the literature by confirming the mediating mechanism of perceived stress within the framework of mindfulness and mental well-being, particularly in the underrepresented population of shift workers in previous studies. In practical terms, the results suggest three programme modifications that companies can implement: (1) a corporate well-being programme that includes mental health interventions specifically for shift workers, (2) a mobile application with brief interventions for stress management during shifts, and (3) a shift rotation system tailored to workers' natural productive time tendencies (chronotype).

Abstract

This study aimed to validate the Indonesian version of the Religious Orientation Scale (ROS-I), an adaptation of Allport and Ross’s (1967) measure of intrinsic and extrinsic religious orientation, using the Rasch model analysis. ROS-I, which consists of two subscales: Intrinsic Religious Orientation (IRO) and Extrinsic Religious Orientation (ERO) was tested to 410 Muslim adolescents from the Greater Jakarta area using online questionnaire. The psychometric evaluation showed that the ROS-I had good index of person and item separation, unidimensional construct, local independence, good item fit index, and good distributions for its rating scales. Therefore, the ROS-I has generally proven to be a valid and reliable tool for evaluating two aspects of religious orientation in Indonesian Muslim adolescents. However, this study restriction to Muslim adolescents’ population may limit its generalizability that calls for broader and more diverse population for future research. Nevertheless, the validated ROS-I offers a useful assessment of religious orientation in Indonesia and similar cultural settings.

Abstract

Organizational commitment is an important factor in determining whether someone will be actively involved in carrying out their work duties and also helps determine the achievement of the organization. However, not all employees of the organization have high organizational commitment, including administrative staff at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD). This study aims to see the organizational commitment influenced by the career plateau and work ethic of administrative staff at one of the RSUDs in the Jakarta area. This study uses a quantitative approach with 62 participants (n = 62) and data analysis techniques using mediator regression analysis. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire accessed via the google form link. This study was conducted at one of the RSUDs in the Jakarta area. The results of the analysis show that work ethic has a more dominant direct effect on the organizational commitment of administrative staff at the RSUD (β = .271), rather than its indirect effect through career plateau (β = .089). This shows that work ethic has a more consistent impact on the loyalty of administrative staff at the RSUD.
