Abstract

Middle-aged women are susceptible to experiencing anxiety, which, if left untreated, can lead to decreased productivity and hinder social interactions, ultimately impacting overall well-being. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral group therapy in alleviating anxiety in middle-aged women. The research design employed a quasi-experimental approach with a one-group pre-test-post-test design and follow-up assessment. The participants included seven middle-aged women aged between 53 and 60 years (mean age = 56.71). They were selected based on screening results using the DASS42 anxiety scale, which indicated severe and very severe anxiety. Data collection consisted of pre-test, post-test, and follow-up assessments using the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). Data were analyzed using the repeated measures ANOVA method. The results of the data analysis revealed an F-value of 120, p < .001, indicating significant differences between the pre-test, post-test, and follow-up assessments. Specifically, significant differences were found between pre-test and post-test (p < .001), pre-test and follow-up (p < .001), and post-test and follow-up (p < .001) results. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral group therapy in reducing anxiety among middle-aged women. Therefore, cognitive-behavioral group therapy emerges as a viable intervention for addressing anxiety in this demographic.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools as Islamic education institutions in Indonesia have an important role in developing students holistically. Santri in addition acquire religious knowledge but must also be able to adapt to the times. For this reason, innovation and proactive behavior are the qualities needed by santri. An adequate boarding school environment should support the innovation of students, and the school climate in the boarding school has an important role in this. Islamic boarding schools also have a uniqueness in shaping the behavior of students by emphasizing the religious and moral character of Islam. Fulfillment of a comfortable school climate in Islamic boarding schools is important to achieve this goal. This study aims to examine the effect of proactive behavior and the school climate on santri’s innovative work behavior. The sampling technique uses non-probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. Data collection used three questionnaires consisting of an innovative work behavior scale, a proactive personality scale and an organizational climate scale. Data analysis was performed using multiple regression analysis. A total of 219 santri at Boarding school Gontor participated in this research, as a pesantren known for its characteristics and potential for developing student innovation. The results indicate that there is a significant effect of proactive behavior and the school climate for santri’s innovative work behavior (sig < .05) and the proportion of variance by 14.9%. Suggestion implications, there is a need for the development of proactive behavior programs among santri and the creation of a physical and psychological environment within Boarding school that supports santri innovation.

Abstract

The study examined the predictability of working conditions on the well-being of employees of selected broadcasting organisations in Southwestern Nigeria. It also assessed the differences in the well-being of these employees based on their form of ownership. A research questionnaire comprising of standardized instruments: the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire and the Work and Well-being Outcome Scale were used to generate data from the respondents. A sample of 412 employees in the eleven selected broadcasting organisations participated in the study.  This study made use of both descriptive and inferential statistics such as frequencies, means, multiple regression, least squared difference, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to analyse data. The results indicated that working conditions which is a compendium of various organizational factors within the selected broadcasting organizations significantly predicted employees’ well-being of the selected organizations. Differences were also found in the well-being of employees of federal, state, and privately-owned broadcasting organisations as these employees are exposed to different physical and psychosocial work environments based on the level of structure and organization of tasks, activities, and the physical and human resources available to these organizations. The study concluded that having pleasant working conditions can play a crucial role in the retention of satisfied and loyal employees and the promotion of their all-round well-being.

Abstract

Every couple hopes for eternal married life until the end of life. However, various challenges faced them. The divorce rate in Indonesia is increasing. Based on an interview with the counselor of the Advisory Board for the Development and Preservation of Marriage (BP4), one of the leading causes is the lack of religious internalizing. So that couples need help to build family relationships that are blessed by Allah SWT, one of which is through counseling services with an Islamic psychology perspective. This study wants to empirically examine the description of the needs of married couples who have marital problems in obtaining Islamic counseling services. This study using a mixed method with an explanatory sequential design type. The data collection tool is a questionnaire which uses descriptive quantitative analysis. Survey was carried out using a google form to 205 married respondents with accidental sampling. Then, in-depth interviews were added to the three of them. The results showed that when facing problems in their marriage, more than 50% of respondents stated that they tried to think positively that they were able to face the problem, then looked for the best information and solutions, made self-introspection and increased worship. This explains the importance of focusing on individual strengths, from a spiritual aspect. Meanwhile, for responses related to seeking assistance from external source, only less than 50% of respondents. For this external source, most of the respondents prefer to discuss with their close person compared to professionals. When talking to external parties, they are also more likely to come to ustaz to obtain suggestions from the spiritual side compared to professionals such as counselors, psychologists and psychiatrists. It describes that the religious perspective serves as one of the important factors needed in solving any problems faced by married couples.

Abstract

This research aims to observe how the process of inner peace that owned by the students with behavior of misbehavior in school through religious approach. The method used is an intrinsic case study that aims to understand the intrinsic characteristics of a particular case as well. Participants in this research are five students in one of Junior High School in Jakarta. The researcher conduct interview in depth and provide mentoring through religious approach, namely mentoring and coaching to reading and studying the Qur'an (Juz 30) for these students who are guided by teachers who can the ability to teach reading the Qur'an, followed by related meanings contained in the letter of Qur'an that are read (worship, morals, and values of life) and sharing. The result is that students do not have a sense of comfort in learning and performing actions that interfere with the learning atmosphere. Through religious approach (mentoring and guidance), this meeting was held, where each individual sharing from heart to heart, students look more open in expressing personal issues and students with behavior Delinquent need attention and handling is different. Through this religious approach, the student feeling comfortable valued and heard what perceived. They are feeling closer to God and have the awareness to change for the better; the existence of the school's communication with parents intensively to figure out the conditions of the students at school; the availability of school facilities that can make students comfortable in learning and positive activity appropriate talent and their interest.

Abstract

Adolescents spend a lot of time at school because schools are centers of activity for them. Thus, it is normal for students to feel supported, comfortable, and connected to all components of the school. These feelings can make students think of themselves as part of their school or known as school belongings. This research was conducted to explore what factors can affect school belonging and to find the factors that have the most meaningful influence on school belonging for high school students in Indonesia. This research used a qualitative approach with a generic qualitative approach, and consisted of five participants who were 10th and 11th grade high school students attending schools in Bandung. Data analysis uses reflexive thematic analysis. The results of the study revealed that four themes could affect school belonging for students at school, including relationships with school members, adequate learning facilities and infrastructure, students' participation in extracurricular activities, and the match between students' interests and their school majors. On the other hand, it was found that peers were a factor that consistently influenced students' school belongings because it is consistently mentioned by every subject in this study.

Abstract

The global rise in the obesity epidemic is largely driven by the consumption of foods that contribute to significant health risks. This research study focuses on the social and personal factors that influence food portions, in addition to environmental factors. The study is designed to investigate the effect of unfamiliar companion, impression management, and emotional eating on food portions in Indonesia. The study employed a quasi-experimental research design in a laboratory setting, using a fake food buffet by recruiting 245 undergraduate students. The results indicated that unfamiliar companion, impression management, and emotional eating had a significant main effect and interaction effect on individuals' food portions (p < 0.05). This was demonstrated by the difference in food portion between people eating alone and in the presence of an unfamiliar companion. It might explain that individuals are aware of maintaining a positive image during meals by choosing food portions that are perceived to reflect positive perceptions when dining with a person who lacks familiarity or personal connection. The research findings can be utilised as a reference for fundamental understanding of mitigation strategies for reducing food portions among adults.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of self-compassion on mental health, with emotion regulation as a mediator variable. Adolescents experience rapid physical, cognitive, emotional and psychological changes in themselves that have the potential to cause mental health problems. The key to success in maintaining mental health is learning to be kind and compassionate to oneself, especially in stressful and difficult situations, or self-compassion. Self-compassion plays an important role in mental health outcomes, where self-compassion will include the emotion regulation component, helping individuals to face and understand negative emotions as adaptive coping. Effective emotion regulation will shape healthy adolescents, so it is suggested that emotion regulation may mediate the influence of self-compassion on mental health. This research uses quantitative methods and was conducted on 574 high school students in Medan, aged 14-19 years. The instruments used were the Warwick Edinburg Mental Wellbeing Scale (WEMWBS), the Self-Compassion Scale, and the Emotion Regulation Scale. The results of the mediation analysis using PLS-SEM4 show that emotion regulation significantly mediates the influence between self-compassion and mental health (T-statistic = 3.694 > 1.96 and P-values = .000 < .05). The results showed that emotion regulation plays a partial role in the effect of self-compassion on mental health. Adolescents who practise self-compassion will try to develop positive thinking skills and reduce the pressure and tension resulting from negative emotions, which will ultimately improve their mental health.

Abstract

Globalization and socio-economic changes have led to an increase in the number of dual-earner families. Jobs that were previously dominated by men are now increasingly being done by women, making the phenomenon of women working commonplace. However, this condition often leads to work-family conflict due to the imbalance of roles at work and home. Family work conflict is an imbalance between work and family that refers to how the relationship between work and family is mutually disrupted. This study analyzes the influence of economic pressure, husband-wife interaction, and family resilience on work conflict in dual-earner families. The research used a quantitative method with an explanatory study design, involving direct interviews with 103 working wives, who were selected by purposive sampling in two places in West Bogor Sub-district, Pasir Jaya Village and Gunung Batu Village. Data were analyzed descriptively using SPSS, while the influence between variables was analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings show that economic pressure significantly influences work conflict, where higher pressure increases conflict intensity. In contrast, good husband-wife interaction and high family resilience were shown to reduce work-family conflict effectively. Based on the research, dual-earner families are advised to improve time management, set priorities, and maintain regular communication to strengthen family harmony and resilience.

Abstract

Pets play a significant role in their owners' lives. Psychological studies have found that pet loss is one of the contributing factors to depression. The grieving response experienced by pet owners following the loss of their pets is referred to as pet bereavement. This study aims to examine the influence of pet attachment, self-compassion, and social constraint on pet bereavement. This research employs a quantitative approach with a sample of 250 individuals who have experienced pet loss and reside in Indonesia. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling. The Pet Bereavement Questionnaire (PBQ) developed by Hunt & Padilla (2006) was used to measure pet bereavement, the Lexington Attachment to Pet Scale (LAPS) developed by Johnson et al. (1992) was used to assess pet attachment. Self-compassion was measured using the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) developed by Neff (2003), and social constraint was assessed using the Social Constraint Scale developed by Lepore et al. (1996). Data analysis was conducted using multiple regression analysis. The regression test results showed an R-squared value of .727, indicating that pet attachment, self-compassion, and social constraint significantly influence pet bereavement, accounting for 72.7% of the variance. The significance test results revealed that three variables had a significant impact on pet bereavement: general attachment (p < .05), people substituting (p < .05), and gender (p < .05). Based on these findings, it is recommended that pet owners develop a healthy attachment to their pets and engage with animal lover communities to receive social support during times of loss.
