Abstract

Photovoltaic system that connected to grid is a system which applied for an area that can be reach by transmission line. This system as a support for conventional generating system. If there is a power from PV system, then power demand supplied from photovoltaic generating system. Otherwise, power demand supplied from conventional generating system. As a support conventional generating system, there is many methods to convert photo energy into AC system that connected to grid. One of conventional methods as a two stage inverter, this methods need two process to convert photovoltaic into AC system. First stage, conversion photovoltaic power to DC system. In this stage PV processed by buck boost converter. Second stage, that DC power from first stage changed into AC power system. This two stage process has low efficiency, so we try to make the process simply and more efficiency. New method called single stage inverter can be applied. With this methods, conversion DC power system from PV can be done by single stage process. From this single process, we expext that more efficiency can be achieved.

Abstract

The importance of folate (folic acid, B9 vitamin, pteroyl-L-glutamic acid) in human diet for the prevention of neural tube defects during pregnancy is widely known. Green vegetables are known to be a potential source of natural occurring folic acid instead of legumes and grains. The fermentation process using a mixed culture of kombucha is an alternative of natural folic acid production from green vegetables. Broccoli and spinach was selected based on its folic acid content compared to other vegetables. This research was conducted by the extraction of broccoli and spinach at 80 °C with a ratio of vegetable and water of 1:4. The inoculum was obtained by inoculating kombucha culture on vegetable extracts for 7 days at room temperature. The vegetable extracts were then fermented using inoculum with concentration of 15, 25 and 35% (v/w of polyphenol of vegetable extracts) for 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 days at room temperature. The analysis were performed on total solids, polyphenol, dissolved protein, reducing sugars, amylase and protease activities, total acid, total plate counts and folic acid contents. This study showed that the type of vegetables, inoculum concentration and fermentation time affect the chemical composition of fermented vegetables. Fermented broccoli and spinach with inoculum concentration of 15% had the highest yield of folic acid of 69,52 µg/mL and 62,05 µg/mL after 6 days and 3 days of fermentation time, respectively. Identification of folic acid in fermented vegetable extracts at optimum condition by LC-MS were carried out with the relative intensity for fermented spinach and broccoli were 0,48% and 0,56%, respectively, with a molecular weight of 459 m/z are identified as 5-methyl tetrahydrofolate.

Abstract

Turbine blade is a critical component in a gas turbine that converts combustion energy into electricity. Due to its high temperature and pressure operation, maintenance of this component is crucial. The manufacturer normally has guidance of maintenance, i.e. different type of maintenance scheme is performed so-called A-B-A-C scheme which is performed every 6,000 equivalent operation hour (EOH). In A and B type inspection, visual inspection is done to turbine blade, and monitoring in next inspection is done if damages found. Turbine blade is replaced at C-Inspection (24,000 EOH) due to availability of power plant. The first stage turbine blade is made of nickel-based superalloy, and damages like missing material, crack, hole, coating spallation found during inspection. Accurate life prediction is need to ensure safety of gas turbine operations. In this paper lifetime prediction using ANN (Artificial Neural Network) used to predict the lifetime of gas turbine blade 145 MW Muara Tawar Power Plant. For input variable we use operation data and for target we use the amount of defect. After several times of training and testing show that network model with 8 inputs, 20 neurons, and 7 targets with MSE (Mean Square Error) 5.42E-02 and R (Regression) 9.85E-01 is able to predict defect as consideration that lifetime of turbine blade will reach one operation cycle

Abstract

To build an efficient transportation system product, possible alternatives paths and modes of transportation for all types of products to be marketed and distributed are signifcant requirements need to be mapped by logistics operator. It becomes more complex due to each product type has its own characteristics and market objectives, thus this is requiring the design of transport schemes that can accommodate those needs in addition to be able to meet its sales target of cargo producers, both in terms of selling volume and revenue. Selection of the appropriate transport scheme is one of the key to achieve efficiency in companies’ operation. Therefore, this study explores the comprehensive transportation process including the route and its capacity, vehicle, cargo volume and the time so that the objectives to transport the cargo is achieved. At the result, the logistics model using networking analysis by Excel and ARENA that has been aplied in this study may be used as optimization method of transporting and distributing cargoes including able to provide recommendations pattern / scheme of transport and logistics effectively and efficiently from Java to both various points in Java and Sumatera

Abstract

Life expectancy (AHH) is an indicator that can reflect the health status of a region, whether from infrastructure, access, and health quality. As one of the dimensions of the Human Development Index (HDI), AHH is deemed to need global attention. Today, AHH growth in developing countries is slow even slower when compared to underdeveloped countries. In Indonesia, the trend of life expectancy at birth continues to increase, but the achievement of national AHH is still lagging behind the AHH of neighboring countries. In addition, as an archipelagic country, the achievement of AHH among provinces still shows a disparity.This study modeled the factors that determine AHH with semiparametric spline truncated regression approach. The method of selecting optimum knots using Generalized Cross Validation (GCV) method. The best model that is formed is a model using three knots with the coefficient of determination of 84.70 percent. Significant variables were percentage of the poor population, percentage of households using clean drinking water, percentage of population who have health complaints, the percentage of under five years who have been complete immunized, and Mean Years of Schooling (MYS). The results of this study are expected to be an input for the Government to take policy in order to improve the national AHH as a whole

Abstract

There have been extensive studies on firm’s growth. The determinants of growth are widely discussed among scholars. However, previous studies in context of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) growth are still limited and tend to focus on specific factor that affect firm’s growth. This approach can specifically measure the direct contribution of the factor to the growth, but it has been criticized due to its limited perspective and applicability. In this study, we investigate related studies on firm’s growth, specifically on SMEs growth, and proposing a holistic model to get a thorough understanding about the success or the failure of SMEs to grow. Based on a thorough review of the extant literature, we have identified several main theories/concepts on firm’s growth studies. Finally, we offer a conceptual overview for SMEs growth studies.

Abstract

Tulisan ini berasal dari kegelisahan penulis terhadap gencarnya perkembangan teknologi informasi yang disadari atau tidak menjadi pintu masuk budaya asing ke Indonesia. Hal ini dapat berakibat negatif yaitu terkikisnya nilai-nilai kearifan lokal yang sudah lama ada dalam kehidupan masyarakat Indonesia. Pengaruh modernitas dan budaya asing yang belum mampu terfilter dengan baik tentu akan mengakibatkan kesenjangan budaya. Eksistensi nilai-nilai kearifan lokal semakin menemukan tantangan ketika pembangunan dilakukan diberbagai bidang kehidupan. Berbagai forum diskusi dan seminar telah membahas permasalahan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal sebagai falsafah hidup  yang telah lama menjadi karakter bangsa Indonesia. Kondisi bangsa Indonesia yang harus menghadapi modernitas di berbagai sisi kehidupan harus berjuang mempertahankan jati diri dan identitas yang dapat mengangkat harkat dan martabat bangsa. Pembangunan yang dilakukan tidak boleh menggerus kearifan lokal. Sebaliknya, pembangunan harus dilakukan dengan berbasis kearifan lokal. Usaha untuk menelusuri kembali, menyosialisasikan dan mengaplikasikan nilai-nilai luhur bangsa perlu untuk didukung, ditingkatkan, diperluas dan ditransformasikan. Modal sosial dan budaya yang dimiliki oleh bangsa ini merupakan sumber daya tak ternilai dalam melakukan pembangunan dengan tidak mengabaikan jati diri dan karakter bangsa. Pembangunan yang dilakukan dengan mengabaikan kearifan lokal, jati diri dan karakter bangsa akan melemahkan bangsa itu sendiri. Melakukan pembangunan dengan tidak berbasis pada nilai-nilai kearifan lokal akan berdampak pada memudarnya identitas suatu bangsa. Jika ini yang terjadi, maka bangsa yang bersangkutan akan mengalami pengeroposan baik karena pengaruh eksternal maupun internal. Di sinilah, urgensi nilai-nilai kearifan lokal dalam pembangunan menemukan relevansinya.

Abstract

This paper is about directional coupler fabrication results in a slab structure with a substrate in the form of acrylic glass, a film of nano SnO2, and cladding in the form of methyl methacrylate (MMA). The length of the interaction area (Lc) directional coupler of the fabrication result is 5 mm with a gap width (g) of 0.353 mm. SnO2 film is grown by deposition on an acrylic substrate. To facilitate the characterization process, the directional coupler is given an optical fiber as input. SnO2 film which has been deposited on an acrylic substrate is coated with methyl methacrylate (MMA). Coating of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in SnO2 film is done by the doctor blade method. Directional coupler fabrication results are used as optical power dividers. The fabricated directional coupler is narrated using a He-Ne laser with a wavelength of 632.8 nm. The characterization mechanism is carried out by taking a photo of the cross section of the directional coupler when given a laser beam input. The cross section photos are processed using ImageJ software to determine the directional coupler intensity distribution on each port. Based on the results of the characterization, the directional coupler with the 5 mm Lc output percentage is 26%, 24%, and 49%

Abstract

Tulisan ini disusun dari hasil kajian pemetaan prasarana transportasi berbasis GIS di wilayah UPT Surabaya, Jawa Timur. Langkah awal dalam pemetaan adalah identifikasi prasarana transportasi. Pemetaan ini penting, untuk mengetahui kondisi dan karakteristik prasarana saat ini, sehingga nantinya dapat dijadikan sebagai dasar perencanaan dan pengambilan keputusan pengembangannya di masa mendatang. Adapun tujuan dari tulisan ini adalah menjelaskan proses penyusunan data base dari hasil identifikasi prasarana transportasi di UPT LLAJ Surabaya. Proses penyusunan data base dari hasil identifikasi prasarana transportasi merupakan kegiatan yang kompleks, mengingat prasarana transportasi relatif beraneka ragam, baik di matra darat, laut, dan udara. Keberagaman ini tentunya memerlukan teknik yang khusus, sehingga proses identifikasinya berjalan dengan efisien dan efektif. Untuk itu, dalam proses identifikasi ini digunakan aplikasi virtusee yang kemudian diintegrasikan dengan Geographic Information System (GIS), untuk menghasilkan data base prasarana transportasi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan, aplikasi virtusee dapat mendukung proses identifikasi prasarana transportasi dengan baik. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan memberikan kemudahan bagi surveyor dalam menginput data secara paperless, real time, terintegrasi dengan map, dan termonitor oleh kordinator. Data yang masuk secara real time memudahkan untuk koreksi, sehingga bilamana terjadi kesalahan, bisa segera diperbaiki di lapangan. Proses kompilasi dan analisis dapat juga dilakukan secara paralel dengan survey, sehingga dapat mempercepat pelaporan. Pada akhirnya output data base prasarana transportasi dapat tersusun dengan valid dan visual yang manarik serta mudah dipahami.
