Abstract

Recruitment is the process of selecting a candidate to be part of the organization. The recruitment process in every manufacturing industry mostly starts from making advertisements to the skills training process. The recruitment process that occurs in the Pro Audio (PA) manufacturing industry is a long Lead Time (LT) and Process Time (PT) and the presence of paper waste reaches 191.6 kg per month. The purpose of this study is to reduce the LT of the recruitment process in the PA industry and reduce paper waste to give full attention to environmental sustainability in the manufacturing industry. The method used to overcome the impact on environmental problems caused by the industry is the Integration of Lean Manufacturing (LM) and Green Manufacturing (GM). The results showed that the LT of recruitment decreased from 17.9 days to 16.4 days or there was a decrease in the ratio of 8.37%. Waste paper (application file) can be eliminated from 191.6 kg/month to 0 kg/month. PT decreased from 76.21 hours to 74.20 hours decreased by 2.63%. The results of this study have a positive impact on the PA industry towards green manufacture because it can reduce paper waste that can pollute the environment.

Abstract

During the pandemic period, many people work from home, so work facilities are needed that could support the implementation of their work. However, the body also needs to be kept healthy to stay in shape, for that exercise is needed. The technique used in design development is the Design Thinking method focusing on the integration of user needs. The use of this technique is done by collecting some input obtained from users who are still working from home during the pandemic. Work and exercise that is done in a house that has a limited area that becomes an obstacle. Therefore, it is necessary to design a work facility that also functions as a sports tool, so that it does not require a large room space in the house. The results of the research are in the form of a proposed work facility consisting of a table, chair that can be adjusted in height, and sports equipment which includes a stationary bicycle, arm swivel device, jogging plate, and stepper. the design of the work facilities is made considering the ease of installation and convenience to be carried everywhere (portable) and comfortable when used.

Abstract

Paper usage in Universities leads to a large amount of paper waste. An adjustment of writing format without overriding ergonomic aspects is a legitimate way of using paper more efficiently. Three factors affect reading comprehension i.e line length, spacing, and font size. The experimental design 2 × 3 × 2 complete randomized design (CRD) had been proposed and twelve combinations of treatments in the form of writing format had been tried out to respondents. Each treatment was repeated three times and each respondent only got one treatment. The best writing format is line length 10.2 cm, spacing 2, and font size 12 point. Paper savings that can be done using the suggested format compared to the currently used writing format in University is 40% and 25%, while the efficiency is 46.95% and 21.02%.

Abstract

Today, plastic waste is a serious problem and needs to be resolved immediately. Indonesia is the second largest contributor of plastic waste to the sea after China. This condition needs to be resolved  immediately by looking for alternative solutions for plastic waste in all areas of life, including plastic waste in educational institutions. Observations at the Parahyangan Catholic University (Unpar) show that 41% of the total inorganic waste come from plastic packaging bottles. One alternative solution to the plastic waste problem is  to recycle plastic waste and process it into other products that can be used. One alternative that is being explored for the process of recycling plastic waste in the Unpar environment is to use an extrusion machine in the Production Process Laboratory of the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI) Unpar. However, this machine has never been used for recycling plastic waste to be made into other products and the process parameters that can produce a good product are not yet known. Therefore, in this study, experimental design was carried out to determine process parameters to produce a good product with the existing extrusion machine. The plastic waste used in this test is plastic waste from Polypropylene (PP) plastic and Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) plastic. The research consist of  determining factors, factor levels, and randomization of treatment using completely randomized design method. The response of this experimental test is the result of product quality assessment involving 3 experts. The results show that the extrusion process on PET plastic waste materials with existing machines has not produced good recycled products. Other processes and machine improvements are still needed to produce a good product. As for PP plastic waste material, the recycling results obtained are quite good. The ANOVA test results show that the barrel temperature will affect the value of the quality of the product produced from PP plastic waste.

Abstract

This research was conducted by taking a case study of a retail store that sells various kinds of building materials. Workers in this shop found it difficult to measure and cut any roll-shaped materials. In addition to a longer time to measure and cut the materials, workers also experienced several kinds of pain after doing these activities. Based on the result of Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire (CMDQ), it was known that the workers experienced pain in their lower back (23.6%), upper back (20.5%), waist (14.1%) and neck (12.7%). Therefore, in this research, a tool will be designed to make it easier for workers to measure and cut roll-shaped material. The design was carried out based on the results of body posture analysis using the REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment) method. The improvement of the worker's posture was carried out by making a tool for measuring and cutting roll-shaped materials. The 3D model for the tool was developed by using the CATIA application. The design of the tool is in the form of a support with 2 rollers which have a total dimension of 150 cm long, 50 cm wide and 110 cm high.  Based on REBA analysis, it was known that there was a significant decrease in REBA scores from 11 (high risk level) for the current work posture to 3 (low risk level) in the proposed work posture using the designed tool. This decreasing of the REBA score happened because the tool was designed so that workers can operate it in a standing position with a roller at elbow height. To ensure that the designed tool could work properly, a prototype of the tool was made in a small scale model. In addition to accomodating ergonomic posture, the tool prototype also could measure the material automatically. The measurement automation process uses Arduino as the main microcontroller which will regulate the motion of the stepper motor used.

Abstract

VRP (vehicle routing problem) belongs to the problem of NP-hard. It makes the computation time becoming longer as the number of data increases. This statement is in accordance with previous research which solved the VRP for the rice distribution system in Bandung which consisted of 40 demand points in the form of traditional markets using the optimal method. The computational time required is 167 hours 52 minutes 38 seconds. Therefore, a heuristic method is needed to solve VRP with a more efficient computation time and an acceptable solution. The purpose of this paper is to complete the VRP by using an annealing simulation to design a rice distribution system in Bandung. Simulated annealing (SA) is a local search algorithm (meta-heuristic) that is able to get out of the local optimum. Its ease of implementation, the use of hill-climbing motions to avoid local optimal, and the convergent nature, have made SA a popular technique over the past two decades. After comparing the results to the ILP model, the computational experiments show what the SA algorithm developed in this paper is able to produce a relatively small gap in terms of total transportation cost, which is 1.26%. This paper has also succeeded in improving the previous paper by reducing the computation time to 19 seconds using the developed SA algorithm.

Abstract

This paper aims to design Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to evaluate sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) in the textile industry in Indonesia. Supply chain sustainability has various challenges in supply chain management from an environmental, social and economic perspective. This encourages better performance management.The method used in identifying SSCM KPIs in the textile industry is carried out by surveys and field studies and validation of the respondent's questionnaire assessment, there are 20 SSM KPIs obtained during direct research in one of the textile industries in Kudus City. Precision performance is obtained by assessing the level of importance between KPI indicators measured using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. According to respondents' preferences, the most dominant indicators are economic indicators, followed by environmental indicators and then social indicators. The results of these KPIs are used to measure the performance of SSCM in the textile industry and as a reference for recommendations for performance improvement.

Abstract

Toy Manufacturing Indonesia is a multinational toy company from the United States. One of the products produced is FashionD and HotW. Capacity planning, one part of production planning and control, is an efficient effort to increase the utilization of company resources. In 2021, the toy cars  demand  increased during special events, such as Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas, and New Year's Eve. It occurs periodically or seasonally, showing a positive trend pattern every year. Toy Manufacturing Indonesia lost 844 thousand cars during the special event, especially at Christmas. Lost sales occur because demand has exceeded the available capacity at regular times and over time. On the other hand, there is still usable capacity during periods of no surge in demand (non-special events). It can be seen from the regular time capacity utilization in the non-special event period, 82% below the average per year. This study shows that by increasing forecasting accuracy, the transportation method's aggregate planning can increase regular time capacity utilization in non-special events by up to 90%, and all demand can be fulfilled (no lost sales). The proposed system design program uses Excel VBA Macro, which can carry out production with high capacity efficiently and effectively

Abstract

Sustainable development in agriculture is needed to protect from economic, social and environmental aspects. The International Rice Research Institute has related goals, such as improving health by improving rice nutrition and food security and creating an environmentally friendly rice system. One of the United Nations’ sustainable development goals is to eliminate famine by implementing food security, improving nutrition, and encouraging agriculture sustainability. This study aims to identify the criteria, sub-criteria and assessment indicators and assess sustainable rice farming in two villages in Karawang, Parungsari and Pasirjengkol. The assessment consists of criteria, sub-criteria and indicators. Criteria and sub-criteria weights were also obtained from experts and calculated using the Fuzzy-Analytical Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy-AHP) method. Then, the rubric determines, and the assessment is carried out and compared to the standard. As a result, both regions have low score indicators. The results of the evaluation score for the economic, social and environmental criteria of Parungsari are 1,679; 2,615; and 3,495. The economic, social and environmental assessment scores of Pasirjengkol are 1,745; 2,588; and 3,189. Recommendations for improvement are also given for each low-scoring indicator.

Abstract

With the launch of the career development center (CDC) website in the digital era, XYZ university in Indonesia takes the initiative to serve as a liaison between students and companies in need of new talent. The website is intended to distribute job market and career development information to students and graduates. However, no evaluation directly involving students and graduates was conducted during the development process. As a result, this study aims to assess the level of user experience to comprehend users' perceptions of the current CDC website. The User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) is used in this study to assess students' and alumni's perceptions as one entity. In addition, semi-structured interviews are conducted to better understand users' pain points. From the measurement with UEQ, the website's attractiveness got a positive impression from users with 0,99 points. The pragmatic quality aspect also makes a positive impression. This aspect consists of three variables: perspicuity (1,21 points), efficiency (0,83 points), and dependability (1,12 points). In contrast, the stimulation (0,74 points) and novelty (-0,37 points) variables on the hedonic quality aspect leave the user with a neutral impression. Based on interviews, users believe that the job vacancy information available on the CDC website still needs to be improved in quantity and variety. Users also need help finding the novelty aspect in terms of website appearance. This study successfully incorporated UEQ into the evaluation stage of a university's career development center website, which had never been done in previous research.
