Abstract

Pendidikan inklusif telah meningkat secara signifikan di Singaraja dan membantu siswa dengan kebutuhan khusus dalam memperoleh hak mereka untuk mencapai pendidikan yang layak. Sekolah dan guru di Singaraja memiliki kesiapan yang sangat terbatas baik dalam keterampilan mengajar dan pengembangan materi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan siswa berkebutuhan khusus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki pelaksanaan pendidikan inklusi oleh guru bahasa Inggris dalam mengajar siswa dengan kesulitan belajar di kelas regular. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data diperoleh melalui studi dokumen, wawancara, dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru bahasa Inggris menggunakan persiapan pembelajaran yang sama dan memodifikasi beberapa kegiatan dalam proses pembelajaran dan menggunakan penilaian yang berbeda. Hasil penelitian ini juga menyebutkan beberapa faktor pendukung dan tantangan dalam menerapkan pendidikan inklusif. Pendidikan inklusif telah dilaksanakan tetapi masih harus ditingkatkan di Singaraja. Kata Kunci : pendidikan inklusif, pengajaran bahasa Inggris, sekolah regular, siswa dengan kebutuhan khusus, siswa dengan kesulitan belajar, Inclusive education has been increasing significantly in Singaraja and helping the students with special needs as well as getting their right to have proper education. It was found that schools and teachers in Singaraja had very limited preparedness either in teaching skills or the material development to meet the actual needs of students with special needs. This study was aimed at investigating the implementation of inclusive education by English teachers to teach slow learners included in a regular classroom. This research was in the form of qualitative research with a case study approach. The data were obtained through document study, interviews, and observations. The findings show that (1) the English teachers used same teachers’ preparation and modified some activities in learning process and used different assessment, and (2) there are also found supporting and challenging factors in implementing inclusive education. Inclusive education has been implemented but still has to be improved in Singaraja. keyword : inclusive education, regular classroom, students with special needs, slow learner, teaching English

Abstract

Penelitian ini difokuskan untuk menganalisis tindak tutur kata yang digunakan oleh guru bahasa Inggris dan siswa kelas sepuluh Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan. Itu difokuskan pada tiga pertanyaan, yaitu tindakan locutionary (tindakan verbal), ilokusi (niat), dan perlocutionary (respon) yang dihasilkan selama kegiatan pembelajaran EFL di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan 1 di Singaraja. Desain penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA dan guru Bahasa Inggris SMK N 1 Singaraja. Para guru dan siswa menggunakan tindak tutur hampir setiap saat. Data dikumpulkan melalui mengamati proses pembelajaran dengan merekam audio-video. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan cara mengamati, mengklasifikasikan, dan menarik kesimpulan. Temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa guru Bahasa Inggris dan siswa menggunakan tindak tutur dalam kegiatan sehari-hari mereka di kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis tindak tutur yang paling dominan pada pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di kelas ini adalah tipe arahan, terutama yang meminta. Secara umum, guru lebih sering menggunakannya untuk memberi perintah, saran, dan permintaan.Kata Kunci : Kata kunci: tindak tutur, lokusi, ilokusi, perlokusi, EFL This study were focused on analyzing speech acts used by the English teachers and tenth grade students of Senior Vocational High School. It was focused on three questions, they were, the locutionary (the verbal acts), illocutionary (the intention), and perlocutionary (the response) acts produced during EFL learning activities at the Senior Vocational School 1 at Singaraja. The research design was descriptive qualitative. The subject were Senior Vocational High school students and English teachers of SMK N 1 Singaraja. The teachers and students used speech acts almost in every moment. The data were collected through observing the learning process by recording an audio-video. The data were analyzed descriptively by means observing, classifying, and drawing the conclusion. The finding of this study shows that the teacher of English and students used speech acts in their daily activity in the classroom. The results showed that most dominant type of speech acts on English teaching and learning at this class is directive type, particularly requesting. Generally, the teacher more often used them to give command, suggestion and request.keyword : Key words: speech acts, locutionary, illocutionary, perlocutionary, EFL.

Abstract

Penelitian ini fokus pada menganalisis penggunaan tindak tutur yang dihasilkan oleh guru bahasa Inggris dan siswa kelas tujuh di Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Ada tiga pertanyaan yang difokuskan oleh peneliti, yaitu tindakan locutionary (tindakan verbal), ilokusi (niat), dan perlocutionary (respon) yang dihasilkan selama kegiatan pembelajaran EFL di SMP N 6 Singaraja. Desain penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Peserta penelitian ini adalah dua guru bahasa ingris dan siswa kelas tujuh SMP N 6 SIngaraja. Tindak tutur terjadi hampir setiap saat dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Data dikumpulkan melalui mengamati proses pembelajaran dengan merekam audio-video. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan cara mengamati, mengklasifikasikan, dan menarik kesimpulan. Penelitian menemukan bahwa bahwa guru Bahasa Inggris dan para siswanya menggunakan tindak tutur dalam kegiatan pembelajaran sehari-hari mereka di kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tindak tutur yang paling dominan terjadi pada pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di kelas ini adalah tipe arahan, khusunya dalam bentuk meminta. Itu diguakan untuk memberikan perintah, intruksi, saran, permintaan dan informasi kepada siswa.Kata Kunci : Kata kunci: tindak tutur, lokusi, ilokusi, perlokusi, EFL This study focused on analyzing the used of speech acts produced by English teachers and seventh grade students of Junior High School. There were three question that focused by the researcher, the locutionary (the verbal acts), illocutionary (the intention), and perlocutionary (the response) acts produced during EFL learning activities at SMP N 6 Singaraja. The research design was descriptive qualitative. The participants of the study were two teachers and seventh grade students of SMP N 6 Singaraja. The speech act occurred almost in every moment in learning activities. The data were collected through observing the learning process by recording an audio-video. The data were analyzed descriptively by observing, classifying, and drawing the conclusion. It was found that English teachers and their students used speech act in daily learning activity in the classroom. the result of the study showed that the most dominant type of speech acts which occurred was directive act which in the form requesting. Abstract

Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kata-kata umpatan yang digunakan oleh orang-orang di desa Sidatapa. Untuk mencapai tujuan ini, penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif, yang dilakukan dengan mengamati, mewawancarai subjek, dan rekaman audio. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 10 orang yang berasal dari desa Sidatapa. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa kata-kata umpatan yang digunakan oleh orang-orang di desa Sidapa memiliki bentuk, referensi, dan fungsinya. Ada tiga bentuk kata-kata umpatan: (1) dalam bentuk kata-kata, yang dibagi menjadi dua: monomorphemic (sigug 'nakal', bancih 'waria', kables 'berhubungan seks', dll) dan polimorfik (bebereke 'putrid', nusuk 'aduk', ngamah 'makan', dll.), (2) dalam bentuk frasa (belog-beloge 'sangat bodoh', sedeng gati 'sangat gila', lengeh buah 'sangat bodoh', dll), dan (3) dalam bentuk klausa (buduh mene 'kamu bodoh', lengeh mene, 'kamu bodoh', ngamah gro gaen mene 'kamu selalu makan', dll). Referensi dari kata-kata umpatan itu terkait dengan: (a) aktivitas, (b) istilah hewan, (c) fungsi tubuh, (d) kotoran, (e) iblis, (f) kekerabatan, (g) penyakit mental, (h) penyakit mental, ) latar belakang pribadi dan (i) agama. Fungsi kata-kata umpatan adalah: (a) agresif, (b) integratif, (c) untuk membuat identifikasi antarpribadi, (d) untuk memberikan katarsis, (e) penekanan, (f) untuk memprovokasi, (g) untuk menarik perhatian, dan (h) regresif. Dalam hal ini, penggunaan kata makian di desa Sidatapa tidak hanya dalam bentuk makna negatif tetapi juga positif seperti, untuk mengurangi rasa sakit mereka dan juga kesusahan.Kata Kunci : bentuk, fungsi, kata umpatan The main objective of this study is to analyze the swear words used by people in Sidatapa village. To achieve this goal, this study used descriptive qualitative research, which was conducting by observing, interviewing the subjects, and audio recording. The subject of this study were 10 people originally from Sidatapa village. The results of this study found that swear words used by the people in Sidapa village have their forms, references, and functions. There are three forms of swear words: (1) in the form of words, which divided into two: monomorphemic (sigug ‘mischievous’, bancih ‘transvestite’, kables ‘having intercourse’, etc) and polymorphemic (bebereke ‘putrid’, nusuk ‘poke’, ngamah ‘eat’, etc.), (2) in the form of phrases (belog-beloge ‘very stupid’, sedeng gati ‘very crazy’, lengeh buah ‘very stupid’, etc.), and (3) in the form of clauses (buduh mene ‘you are stupid’ , lengeh mene , ‘you are stupid’, ngamah gro gaen mene ‘you always eat’, etc.). The references of the swear words were related to: (a) activity, (b) animal terms, (c) body function, (d) excrement, (e) devils, (f) kinship, (g) mental illness, (h) personal background and (i) religion. The functions of swear words were: (a) aggressive, (b) integrative, (c) to create interpersonal identification, (d) to provide catharsis, (e) emphasis, (f) to provoke, (g) to draw attention, and (h) regressive. In this case, the used of swear word in Sidatapa village was not only in the form of negative meaning but also positive such as, for reducing their pain and also distress.keyword : Keywords: forms, function, swear word

Abstract

The study was categorized as classroom action research which was done for the purpose of improving the students’ reading comprehension at Class X.A3 in SMKN 2 Singaraja in academic year 2013/2014 through the implementation of R.A.P Paraphrasing strategy. The study was done in two cycles where each cycle consisted of four main activities; planning, action, observation and reflection. To collect the data, there were three kinds of instrument used namely researcher’s diary, questionnaire, and tests. Furthermore, the data obtained in this study were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The data gained in pre-test and post-tests were analyzed quantitatively, while the data from researcher’s diary and questionnaire were analyzed qualitatively. Based on the results of this study, it was found that the students’ reading comprehension at Class X.A3 in SMKN 2 Singaraja had improved significantly. It was indicated by the result of students’ tests on which in pre-test, from 35 students in total, there were only 14.29% students passing the school passing grade. But in post-test I, the number increased into 71.43% students, and finally in post-test II, the criteria of success had been reached as 85.71% students could successfully pass the standard passing score. In addition, the success of the study was also based on the results of the questionnaire as well as the researcher’s diary which showed the students’ positive attitudes toward the implementation of the R.A.P. Abstract

AbstractThis study was a descriptive qualitative research, which aimed to find out the implementation of TPR method for teaching listening and speaking, the reasons why the teacher chose TPR method and what the problems were faced by the teacher in implementing TPR method for teaching listening and speaking. The subjects of the study were the English teacher and the 32 students Class 5A, SD Laboratorium Undiksha Singaraja.  This study was in the form of case study. The data were collected by using four instruments, interview guide, observational checklist, recorders and test in order to prove the teacher’s statement about students’ improvement. The data obtained were then analyzed descriptively. There were three main processes of data analysis: data reduction, data display and drawing conclusion/ verification. From the overall findings, it can be concluded that TPR method was implemented in accordance to the theory conceptualized by Larsen-Freeman (2000) and Richards & Rodgers (2001) and was combined with songs.  Based on the teacher’s statement and test result, the reasons why TPR method was used because it made students enjoy the class, easy to understand the material and teacher considered TPR method was effective to improve students’ ability in listening and speaking. However, there were few problems faced by the teacher in implementing TPR for teaching listening and speaking, namely: The students’ characteristic affects their confidence in TPR activities, and TPR was not flexible to be implemented for all materials and students’ levels.                                  Keywords: TPR Method, Listening, Speaking

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis qualitative research aimed at identifying kinds of code that are used by Moslem people in Telagamas Village and analyzing how they used those codes to communicate with each other and other people around this village. There were three domains chosen in this study, namely family, friendship, and neighborhood. The data were collected using two techniques, namely observation, and interview technique. There were three conversations recorded in all domains of language used and the data were analyzed using observation sheet in a form of table. The results of the study show that there were 3 kinds of code used by the Moslem people in Telagamas Village based on 610 utterances that had been analyzed, namely Sasak language, Balinese, and Indonesian. In addition, there were 46 utterances categorized as code switching and code mixing used by the villagers. There were 32 utterances (70%) that belonged to code switching and 14 utterances (30%) to code mixing. Keywords: Code, Code Switching, Code Mixing

Abstract

AbstractThis experimental research aimed at investigating the effect of Lexical Collocation on students’ reading comprehension achievement. To conduct the research, 72 students were selected as the samples. They were the tenth grade students of science major at SMAN 4 Singaraja. The group of students were given the lottery, and the result showed that the X MIPA 2 was experimental group and X MIPA 3 was the control group. The design used in this research was Post Test Only Control Group Design. The experimental group was given collocation as treatment and the control group was taught by using a conventional teaching method. At the end, both experimental and control groups were given the post test. The post test was a reading comprehension test, consisting of 20 multiple choices. The data obtained by the post test were analysed by using Descriptive and Inferential Statistic Analyses. This study used alternative hyphothesis. The result of t test in which tobserved was  higher than tcritical value 2.03 was 5.14. Based on the result, the null hyphothesis was rejected and the alternative hyphothesis was accepted. The rejected null hyphothesis means that there is significant difference on reading comprehension between the students who were taught by using collocation and who were not.Key words:Lexical Collocation, Conventional teaching reading, Reading comprehension.

Abstract

AbstractThis study was intended to investigate whether or not there was a significant effect in speaking achievement between the students who were taught by Script – Based Improvisation and the students who were taught by memorizing dialogue technique as conventional strategy. The population of this study was the students of grade eleventh in SMA N 2 Busungbiu and the samples were selected randomly by using Cluster Random Sampling technique. From the lottery, it was found that class XI IPA 1 was experimental group and XI IPA 2 was the control group. The hypothesis used in this study was alternative hypothesis which stated there was significant difference between two groups of students taught through Script–Based Improvisation and Memorizing technique. Post – Test Only Control Group Design was applied as the research design. After six times of treatments, the posttest was administered to find out the impact of the treatment. From the data that were analyzed descriptively and inferentially, it was obtained that the mean score for Experimental group was 79.50 and the mean score for Control group was 75.46, while the value of to (t observed) was 3.064 and exceeded the tcv (t critical value) which was 1.96 (significance level 5 %). It indicated there was significant difference of speaking achievement between both Experimental and Control group that were treated differently.The key terms: Speaking, Speaking Achievement, Script – Based Improvisations

Abstract

The objective of this research was to know whether there is any correlation between memory and uses of the words meanings and usages. There are there research problems were examined. It is about the total words meanings and usages remembered by the students, the uses of the words meanings and usages in the four language skills, and the correlation between memory and uses of the words meanings and usages. This research conducted at SMP N 5 Singaraja and the sample used was students in the seven grade consisted of 62 students. The data were collected using test and questionnaire. The result of test shows that the highest total number of words meanings and usages remembered by the students is 115 words (90%) from the total number of words is 128 words while the lowest total number of words meanings and usages remembered by the students is 64 words (50%). The most word class remembered by students in terms of word meanings and usages is noun that is 75% and word class adverb is 42% remembered by the students. The result of questionnaire shows that students used words meanings and usages frequently in reading. In reading, 62 students (100%) used words meanings and usages in terms of word class noun, verb, adjective, and adverb. The result of data analysis shows that there is a significant correlation between memory and uses of words meanings and usages. It could be seen by looking at the result of Point-Biserial Correlation coefficient r that is 0.564. Key Words: memory, uses of  words meanings and usages
