Abstract

The pandemic disrupted educational systems globally, prompting the need for alternative learning modalities like online, modular, and blended learning. The SLCP, particularly within the context of a school in Region 8, integrates these modalities to address essential learning competencies. This research paper aimed to evaluate the school Learning Continuity Plan (LCP) through its School Continuity Learning Plan Program using (CIPP) model of evaluation. Employing a qualitative design, data were gathered through purposive interviews with 1 non-teaching personnel, 1 department head, and 3 teachers and an analysis of the approved LCP road-map. Findings revealed comprehensive alignment with the evaluation model domains, though certain areas required revisiting for improvement. The study advocated for the administration's holistic consideration, especially recognizing teachers as front line contributors to the LCP. Their pivotal role in the design and planning phases was emphasized for the effective mechanization of the school LCP. Hence, it was concluded that educational administrators should prioritize collaboration with teachers and consider their perspectives to enhance the overall quality and functionality of the LCP. Moreover, the study recommended organizational consideration, valued teachers in school LCP, prioritized health, integrated modalities, and emphasized quality learning with metrics in LCP.

Abstract

The current learning problem is that learning activities could be more optimal. Lack of reading habits and students' attention to the subject matter being taught causes low student learning outcomes. Based on this, this research aims to analyze the influence of problem-based learning models and peer tutor learning methods on high school students' learning outcomes in Economics subjects. The type of research used in this research is quasi-experimental research. The population of 6 classes was selected randomly using cluster random sampling, totalling 216 students. The methods used to collect data are observation, questionnaires, documentation and tests. The instruments used to collect data were questionnaire sheets and test questions. The techniques used to analyze data are descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The research results show that using the problem-based learning model combined with peer tutoring significantly affects student learning outcomes in economics subjects. The PBL learning method significantly affects learning outcomes, whereas the peer-tutor combination method can provide better learning outcomes than conventional methods. The problem-based learning model combined with peer tutors could significantly improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Currently, there are still many students who feel they need to be more confident in studying mathematics. Most students are weak in conceptual understanding and procedural knowledge. This research aims to analyze the effect of the realistic mathematics education (RME) approach on students' conceptual and procedural understanding. The type of research used is a quasi-experiment (Quasi Experiment). The design of this research is a non-equivalent pot-test-only control group design. The population of this study was all class VII students, totaling 133 students. Sampling used a simple random sampling technique. The total sample is 58 students. The method used to collect data is a test. The instrument used to collect data is test questions. The techniques used to analyze data are descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics. The research results show differences between students who follow the realistic mathematics education (RME) learning model and students who do not follow the realistic mathematics education (RME) learning model regarding students' conceptual and procedural abilities. It was concluded that the realistic mathematics education (RME) learning model can improve conceptual and procedural abilities in junior high school students.

Abstract

The problem of learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic is currently still common in elementary schools. This has an impact on low science learning outcomes for students. This research aims to develop learning media in the form of digital comics as a post-pandemic learning recovery effort. The research method used is the R&D (Research and Development) research method using the Borg & Gall development model. The subjects of this research are material experts and learning media experts. The test subjects for this research were small-scale trials carried out by nine students using purposive sampling techniques and teachers. The test subjects for product effectiveness were 34 students. The methods used to collect data are observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests. The instruments used to collect data were questionnaire sheets and test questions. The techniques used to analyze data are qualitative, quantitative, and inferential statistical descriptive analysis. The results of this research are digital comic media, which has gone through the revision stage and received high validation scores from media experts and material experts. This media is considered suitable and can be applied in learning and research. After analyzing the N-Gain scores, significant differences were also seen between the pre-test and post-test data, indicating increased students' learning abilities regarding understanding the material in the high category. It was concluded that the digital comics developed could be used to overcome learning loss in elementary schools.

Abstract

The current problem is that the teaching profession is experiencing a professional and quantity crisis because it needs to attract young people to enter the teaching profession in the future. This research focuses on economics education students who are expected to become teachers in the future. This study aims to examine the effect of motivation to become a teacher on altruism. In conducting this study, a survey of 230 education students at two universities of education in Indonesia who are completing a four-year undergraduate program to become secondary school teachers was conducted. The research method used was a quantitative survey. The data collection method used was a questionnaire. Data processing was done by hierarchical regression. The results found in this study indicate that motivation to become a teacher has a positive and significant influence on altruism. Female students tend to be more motivated to become teachers than male students. The findings of this study prove that gender can moderate the relationship between altruism and motivation to become a teacher, while culture is a quasi-moderation revealed in this study.

Abstract

Using digital-based teaching materials is urgently needed to increase student involvement and foster communicative and collaborative character. However, many traditional teaching materials have yet to utilize the full potential of digital technology. This research aims to develop teaching materials for digital-based literary appreciation to strengthen students' communicative and collaborative character. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method. The research design used in this research is 4-D Research and Development research. The development of digital-based literary appreciation teaching materials to strengthen students' communicative and collaborative character is carried out in several stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Product trials are conducted on students based on the pretest and posttest results. The pretest results for students obtained data (quite effective) and posttest results (very effective) in learning literature to strengthen communicative and collaborative characteristics. Product trials were also carried out on lecturer groups to show good results and were suitable for use in literature learning. This research has implications for literature learning, especially in developing literary appreciation teaching materials combined with (digital) technological advances.

Abstract

English learners from the Philippines also face difficulties in learning English. Even though most Filipinos have some level of fluency in English, a gradual decline can be observed based on the EF English Proficiency Index (annual ranking based on their level of English proficiency) over the past few years. This research investigates using communicative language teaching (CLT) strategies to promote innovative teaching and learning approaches. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method using a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) approach. Data collection methods use interviews, document recording, and questionnaires. The data collection instrument uses a questionnaire sheet. The data analysis technique uses qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the study revealed that SHS teachers' use of CLT is evident in their encouragement of practical language use and engaging students in communicative activities such as role-playing and opinion sharing, in line with existing research that highlights the efficacy of the approach in improving students' communication skills, critical thinking and acquisition of vocabulary. This study noted variations in CLT implementation among teachers, indicating the need for further professional development and support to ensure consistent and practical application of CLT principles, ultimately benefiting student learning outcomes.
