Abstract

The implementation of Curiklum Merdeka, a new curriculum in Indonesia, has highlighted the importance of teacher agency and resilience. Curriculum changes and significant differences from the previous curriculum present challenges for Indonesian teachers, requiring the important role of teacher agency and resilience in identifying and solving problems effectively. The aim of this research is to see the correlation between teacher agency and their resilience when facing difficulties related to the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. This research uses a quantitative method strategy. 41 educators who have used the Merdeka Curriculum became research subjects. Participants were given closed-ended and open-ended questionnaires to complete to collect data. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to support the results of the questionnaire. For the questionnaire results, the researchers conducted descriptive statistical analysis with SPSS 26, and for the interview results, a narrative inquiry approach was used. This study found that teachers demonstrated a high level of agency and resilience in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, using a variety of teaching methods and resources. There is a strong positive relationship between agency and teacher resilience, meaning that higher agency will increase resilience. However, teachers face challenges such as rigid mindsets, lack of preparation, limited resources, and technological difficulties.

Abstract

Violence committed by seniors against juniors occurs when students are doing activities in the educational environment. The concept of a humanistic education curriculum through a parenting pattern based on the development of soft skills and character in vocational higher education needs to be planned so that acts of violence in vocational higher education. This study aims to analyze the planning of a humanistic curriculum through a parenting pattern based on the development of soft skills and character in the vocational higher education environment of the Ministry of Transportation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The research procedure involves collecting data through document studies, including journals, scientific articles, and official government documents related to the research topic. The subject of the study is a policy document related to the soft skills development curriculum in the vocational higher education of the Ministry of Transportation. Data analysis was carried out descriptively. The findings show that the formation of soft skills that must be carried out by caregivers to students/cadets consists of two activities, namely embedded and stand-alone methods. Embedded activities are carried out according to the student's daily activities. At the same time, the stand-alone method is carried out through certain activities aimed at inspiring or instilling soft skills. Therefore, curriculum planning by adding humanistic and character-based learning activities must be carried out in an integrated, structured, planned, hierarchical manner with the proper methods.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the main competencies in 21st-century learning that students, especially in science learning, must possess. However, students' critical thinking skills are still relatively low, so teaching materials are needed that can train and improve these abilities. One solution that can be applied is using interactive science e-books with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of interactive science e-books with the PBL model in improving students' critical thinking skills. This study uses a quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest Design. The research sample consisted of 30 grade VII students selected by purposive sampling. The data collection technique used a critical thinking skills test, a pretest, and a posttest with 10 descriptive questions. The data were analyzed using parametric statistics. A paired sample t-test showed a significant difference in students' average critical thinking skills after using interactive science e-books with the PBL model. The results of this study indicate that interactive science e-books with the PBL model effectively improve students' critical thinking skills. These findings indicate that using digital-based teaching materials with a PBL approach can be an innovative learning strategy for improving students' critical thinking skills in the digital era.

Abstract

The low chemical literacy ability of students is the main problem in chemistry learning today. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the guided inquiry learning model with the socio-scientific issues (SSI) approach in improving students' chemical literacy skills. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a pretest-posttest control group design to measure the effectiveness of the learning model on salt hydrolysis materials. The research sample was selected using random sampling, with a total of 70 students in grade XI MIPA in one of the high schools. Data collection techniques are carried out through pretest and posttest tests to measure students' chemical literacy skills. Data analysis includes normality tests, homogeneity, and hypothesis tests using parametric statistics. The results of the study show that context-based learning with a guided inquiry model and the SSI approach is effective in improving students' chemical literacy skills. This was shown by a significant improvement in the chemical literacy ability profile in the experimental class compared to the control class, which used a scientific approach. Overall, the percentage of students' chemical literacy abilities increased, with most students being in the good and excellent categories in each topic tested. In addition, students who received learning interventions with SSI-based guided inquiry showed improved higher-order thinking skills and greater awareness of environmental issues. This study has implications that the use of the SSI approach in the guided inquiry model can be an effective alternative learning strategy to improve students' chemical literacy and build their concern for the environment.

Abstract

Educational transformation in rural areas faces various challenges, including limited access to diverse educational resources and inadequate technological infrastructure, which hinder the implementation of modern teaching methods. However, these obstacles can be overcome if teachers, as the leading actors, utilize the available learning resources. This study explores the perspectives on using digital learning tools among English teachers in rural contexts. It identifies barriers, opportunities, and implications for improving teaching practices and student learning in rural settings. Through a qualitative descriptive design, this study collected data by interviewing three English teachers from rural areas and analyzed the data using thematic analysis. The results showed that most teachers are aware of the potential of digital technology in improving learning effectiveness, especially in terms of broader access to materials and higher interactivity. However, the main challenges faced include limited technological infrastructure, lack of adequate training, and limited internet access, which hinder the optimal implementation of technology. Nevertheless, teachers remain enthusiastic about adopting digital tools, primarily if they are supported by government and educational institutions in training and providing better facilities. This study concludes that although digital learning tools have great potential to improve the quality of English learning in rural areas, their implementation still requires further attention related to technical factors and human resource readiness.

Abstract

In education in Indonesia, there is a lack of effective examples provided by leadership in designing learning and implementing it in the field. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of leadership on changes in secondary schools. The research method used was quantitative involving 562 secondary school teachers as respondents. The sample collection technique was carried out randomly. The data collection technique uses an instrument developed with a rating scale of 1 to 5 points. The data analysis technique is carried out using descriptive statistics with the help of SPSS version 25.0 to calculate the average value and analyze the relationship between variables. As a result, it was found that all dimensions of leadership were at a high category level. The mean showed that teachers' confidence in the implementation of their leadership as a whole was in the good category. These findings indicate that leadership wars make a significant contribution to changes in educational management for the better in secondary schools. The conclusion of this research is that application to leadership needs to be increased in schools and must be sustainable between new and old leaders. So that the effectiveness of learning can be maximized by teachers in junior high schools. The implications of this research indicate the need for training and development from leaders to teachers in junior high schools in improving the quality of planning management and implementation of learning.

Abstract

Learning based on local wisdom needs to continue to be encouraged because it accommodates a contextual approach and preserves the cultural heritage of Indonesia, especially Maluku. The aim of this research is to develop local content learning tools with blended learning based on local wisdom to empower high school students' 21st century life skills. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) model developed by Borg & Gall which consists of 10 stages. Sampling was carried out by random sampling, especially for schools that were declared participating after a placement test was carried out. The sample for the quasi experiment was class X high school students spread across 10 high schools, while the test subjects in the development stage used four high schools. Based on the results of research and valorization, it was found that the learning product had met product suitability standards, namely (Valid or can be used with minor revisions) through product validity testing by experts and field trials. The validation results are then revised until they meet the expected standards and then revalidation is carried out to ensure that the development product is valid and can be used for learning purposes, especially at the experimental research stage. The low percentage of research based on local wisdom with blended learning needs to be followed up by increasing this research with varied designs, measured variables, research subjects, and improving research locations. The implications of this research can contribute to improving the quality of more contextual learning, by integrating local cultural values in the teaching and learning process.
