Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was aimed to determine the effect of the use of production factors rainfed lowland rice farming in Serindang, Tebas, Sambas regency. The method used in this study was a survey method. The location of research was purposively selected in the Serindang, Sambas by considering of farming was the central high produced of rice and it was the main income for the farmers. The primary data was collected by simple random sampling while secondary data was collected from Central Bureau Statistic (BPS) and Village Chief Office. The numbers of respondents were 37 farmers from 730 populations of rainfed rice farmers. The variables examined in this study covered a land area, number of seeds, Urea fertilizer, NPK fertilizer, the amount of herbicides, insecticides, and the non-family workers. The analysis of production factors use in Serindang was Regression Test Cobb-Douglas function. The results of the analysis showed that the factors of production land area were significantly affect production, while the factors of production of seed, urea fertilizer, NPK fertilizer, herbicides, insecticides and non family workers were not significantly affect production. It was influenced by the use of local seed that was not responding toward fertilizing and erroneously rainfall affected uncontrolled irrigation that was influencing the rice growth. Keywords: Factors of production, rice, rainfed lowland

Abstract

Introducing high yield varieties to farmers by demonstration plots is one of efforts to accelerate the adoption of these varieties. The objective of study was to determine the preferences of farmers on the characteristics of rice high yield varieties on medium freshwater swampland. The study was carried out on farmer's land at Hamayung village, Daha Utara subdistrict, Hulu Sungai Selatan regency in 2017. There were 20 selected farmers as samples by simple random sampling. Collected data were farmer characteristics and rice morphology that obtained by interviews with farmers using questionnaires and farmer observations on plant growth of 10 rice high yield varieties in the field before harvesting. The obtained data were tabulated, grouped and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that (1) the most preferred performance of plants was plant age, panicle length, plant type, grain shape and plant height and (2) Mekongga, Inpari 30, Inpara 6, Inpari 9, Inpari 17, Ciherang and Inpara 8 were the preferred variety (from the most preferred order) varieties based on their agromorphology.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze (1) the correlation of factors that affect the spread of forest fire indication, and (2) the pattern of distribution, land burning time, and the public perception of combustion in Kubu Raya and Bengkayang Districts. The research activities were carried out in 12 villages in Kubu Raya and Bengkayang Districts during the month of November 2014 until January 2014. The research method is using correlation analysis and descriptive to explain the distribution patterns, land burn time, and the public perception of combustion. The results showed: 1) there is a relationship between the purpose of combustion (open land and eradicate weeds) with the population, and there is no relationship between the objectives of land combustion on the combustion behavior of the land associated with the main types of cultivated plants, and there is a correlation to the density of hotspots, the density of dry land farming and bush, shrub/ swamp density, marsh density, density of plantation, and density of open land. 2) The pattern of the farmers burning rice, horticulture and perenninal crops were classified into the type of the pattern of spots and the perception is part of a burning activities,  type with ash beds and lodge with the perception of not being a part of burning activities, and type with only one time burning on the stages of land preparation, and type with in the eradication of weeds.
