Abstract

Sasak society is renowned for its adherence to moral principles, humanism, and strong religious beliefs. Nevertheless, several research indicate the persistent existence of gender discrimination, particularly targeting women. This study seeks to examine the formation of the concept of 'being a woman' in Sasak culture, encompassing its many manifestations, underlying causes, and consequences for the social framework, particularly for women in Sasak society. This study employed a qualitative methodology, gathering primary data from several sources including regional chairman, religious leaders, Penelando customary authorities in Sasak, women fulfilling the role of housewives, and males serving as heads of households. The data collected from these sources utilizing the interview method is subsequently analyzed using Foucault's framework of power relations. The research reveals that in Sasak society, the construction of 'being a woman' entails the perception that domestic work is inherent to women. The formation of 'womanhood' in Sasak society is intricately linked to the ideology of male hegemony over women. This architecture significantly influences the occurrence of social issues, including the dual burden faced by women, the marginalization of women in the public domain, and the restricted availability of economic resources for women. Due to the intricate nature of power in the creation of gender, it is imperative to do more research with a broader pool of participants. This will enable the identification of more comprehensive concerns and the exploration of the dynamics within current power dynamics.Masyarakat Sasak selama ini dikenal sebagai masyarakat yang menjunjung tinggi nilai-nilai moral, humanis dan religiusitas yang tinggi. Namun demikian, beberapa penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada sisi lain masih terdapat fenomena diskriminasi gender, khususnya pada perempuan. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi konstruksi 'menjadi perempuan' di masyarakat Sasak yang meliputi bentuk, faktor penyebab hingga implikasinya pada struktur sosial khususya perempuan di masyarakat Sasak. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui pendekatan kualitatif, dengan sumber data primer penelitian yang mencakup ketua wilayah, tokoh agama sekaligus ketua adat Penelando di Sasak, perempuan sebagai ibu rumah tangga, serta laki-laki selaku kepala keluarga. Data yang diperoleh melalui metode wawancara dari sumber data tersebut kemudian diinterpretasi dengan menggunakan pendekatan relasi kuasa Foucault. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa bentuk konstruksi 'menjadi perempuan' di masyarakat Sasak adalah  bahwa pekerjaan domestik dianggap sebagai kodrat perempuan. Konstruksi 'menjadi perempuan' di masyarakat Sasak ini berkaitan erat dengan wacana dominasi laki-laki terhadap perempuan. Konstruksi tersebut berdampak pada munculnya problem-problem sosial seperti adanya beban ganda perempuan, marginalisasi perempuan di ruang publik, hingga keterbatasan akses sumber ekonomi bagi perempuan. Mengingat sifat kekuasan dalam konstruksi gender yang sangat kompleks, maka perlu adanya penelitian lanjutan dengan informan yang lebih luas, guna mengidentifikasi persoalan-persoalan yang lebih komprehensif serta mengungkap dinamika relasi power yang ada.

Abstract

Several studies indicate that insufficient education on sexual matters in schools is a contributing factor to the engagement of teenagers in sexual deviant behaviors. Another contributing factor to sexual deviance in teenagers is their experience as victims of sexual abuse, parental violence, and coming from broken homes. These factors might promote the development of sexual dysfunction, particularly in suburban regions. The objective of this study is to provide a detailed account of the sexual knowledge and sexual behavior of teenagers attending schools in suburban settings. The researcher selected two schools in Deli Serdang Regency, one being a public school and the other a religious school, both with distinct educational system histories. This research methodology employs a quantitative study design utilizing a survey-based technique. The public school sample consisted of 74 respondents, whereas the religious school sample consisted of 91 respondents. The research data were gathered by a questionnaire and analyzed using the SPSS version 22 software. The findings demonstrated that sexual education in religious schools can significantly mitigate the occurrence of sexual aberrations in comparison to public schools. Meanwhile, teenagers attending public schools view engaging in physical touch while dating as a favorable activity. This contrasts with teenagers attending religious schools, where the emphasis is on instilling stronger religious ideals in order to restrict romantic relationships during adolescence.Beberapa penelitian menyebutkan bahwa kurangnya pengetahuan tentang seks di sekolah menjadi salah satu sebab remaja melakukan penyimpangan seksual. Faktor lain yang memiliki korelasi dengan penyimpangann seksual adalah para remaja tersebut merupakan korban kekerasan seksual, kekerasan orang tua, dan latar belakang dari keluarga broken home yang kemudian memicu munculnya disfungsi seksual di wilayah sub urban. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana pengetahuan seks dan perilaku seksual remaja di sekolah yang terletak di wilayah sub urban. Peneliti memilih dua sekolah dengan latar belakang sistem pendidikan yang berbeda, yaitu sekolah umum dan sekolah agama di Kabupaten Deli, Serdang. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan survey. Jumlah sampel sekolah umum sebanyak 74 responden, dan sampel sekolah agama sebanyak 91 responden. Data penelitian dikumpulkan menggunakan angket, dan diolah menggunakan program SPSS versi 22. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan tentang seks di sekolah agama secara efektif dapat mencegah munculnya penyimpangan seks dibandingkan dengan sekolah umum. Sedangkan remaja di sekolah umum menganggap pacaran dengan melakukan kontak fisik merupakan suatu aktivitas positif. Hal ini berbeda dengan remaja di sekolah agama yang lebih menanamkan nilai-nilai agama untuk membatasi hubungan berpacaran di usia remaja.

Abstract

Media convergence has resulted in many transformations in religious social dynamics, including the adoption of a 'marketing' approach by the Hijaber Community in Indonesia to promote religious principles. This community utilises a range of social media channels to disseminate these religious beliefs, aiming to enhance their visibility and acceptance among both online and offline populations. The objective of this study is to provide a description of the various types of media convergence seen within the community and analyse their influence on the community's development in the online realm. The study employed a qualitative netnography methodology to examine the social media accounts utilised by the subjects. The data was subsequently examined with the convergence culture hypothesis pioneered by Henry Jenkins.  The findings indicated that the media convergence process gave rise to two distinct types of convergence culture: participation culture and collective intelligence. This type of participatory culture is seen in the uploading of twibbons and the posts made by community followers, as well as the growing number of members in the Hijaber Community. Furthermore, communal intelligence is evident through the use of reels and IG live, which are available for access at any given moment.Konvergensi media telah memunculkan sejumlah perubahan dalam kehidupan sosial keagamaan, salah satunya adalah strategi ‘pemasaran’ nilai-nilai keagamaan yang dilakukan oleh komunitas Hijaber Community di Indonesia. Komunitas ini mengintegrasikan berbagai platform media sosial untuk mempromosikan nilai-nilai keagamaan tersebut sehingga menjadi lebih banyak dikenal oleh masyarakat online dan offline. Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk mendeskripsikan apa saja bentuk-bentuk konvergensi media dalam komunitas tersebut dan bagaimana konvergensi itu memberikan dampak perkembangan komunitas mereka di dunia maya. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif netnografi dengan menelusuri berbagai akun sosial media yang mereka gunakan. Data kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori budaya konvergensi yang digagas oleh Henry Jenkins. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bentuk-bentuk budaya konvergensi yang muncul dari proses konvergensi media yaitu budaya partisipasi dan kecerdasan kolektif. Bentuk budaya partisipasi ini terlihat dalam unggahan twibbon dan postingan follower komunitas serta bertambahnya anggota komunitas Hijaber Community. Sedangkan kecerdasan kolektif dalam terlihat dari reels dan IG live yang dapat diakses setiap saat.

Abstract

The book is 168 pages thick with content full of knowledge (theoretical and practical) through various interrelated concepts in building a better livelihood framework. This book is very worth reading. This reminds that it can be understood and can be used by institutions or individuals who want and are currently carrying out development work in poverty alleviation, as well as in development studies and multidimensional rural development. This book can be read, both theoretically and practically, to encourage rural development planners and local institutions to reflect again on policies that are pro-poor, pay attention to local parameters, and voice the aspirations of the community and local institutions at a more macro level. Finally, this book gives us an understanding of the study of rural development, especially poverty alleviation through the subject's livelihood. Moreover, in elaborating Henry Bernstein's political-economy approach which can be applied from the smallest unit, such as the household to a wider spectrum, to the global realm so that it can enrich and strengthen the analysis of sustainable livelihoods at various loci. However, this book also needs to add related issues related to connectivity and discussion with the global development agenda SGDs, and needs case studies on sustainable livelihoods globally as reference material and strengthens the political economy perspective that has been described in the case study.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the viewpoints of young Indonesians during their adolescence and adulthood about trust between different religions, social interaction, and political inclinations. Specifically, it emphasizes how the duration of secondary school education might shape their viewpoints. This study used ordinal logistic regression analysis to examine panel data collected from the Indonesian Family Life Survey, which comprises a sample size of over 20,000 respondents. The findings indicate a decrease in the standard of individuals' interfaith conduct between 2007 and 2014. The research indicates that those who finished secondary school during the New Order era exhibit higher levels of tolerance towards interfaith ideas in comparison to those who completed secondary school during the Reformation era. The disparity might be attributed to the policies of the New Order administration, which prioritized national cohesion and stability while actively opposing religious "extremism". The research findings indicate that those who finished secondary school during the post-New Order era have a heightened inclination towards interfaith political socialization and preferences. The results of this study hold significant relevance in the current climate of growing intolerance and religious division, particularly with regards to the determinants of interfaith attitudes and behavior, as well as the role of education in fostering ideals of tolerance. Hence, this study underscores the necessity for additional longitudinal and comparative research on interfaith community interactions, including a broader spectrum of age cohorts and geographical areas.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengulas perspektif generasi muda Indonesia pada usia remaja dan dewasa pada kepercayaan (trust), sosialisasi, dan preferensi politik lintas agama. Secara khusus, penelitian ini menyoroti bagaimana masa pendidikan sekolah menengah dapat memengaruhi perspektif mereka. Melalui analisis regresi logistik ordinal, penelitian ini menganalisis data panel yang diperoleh dari Survei Kehidupan Keluarga Indonesia, yang mencakup lebih dari 20.000 responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya penurunan kualitas perilaku lintas agama masyarakat pada tahun 2007 hingga 2014. Data penelitian ini memperlihatkan bagaimana generasi muda yang menyelesaikan sekolah menengah pertama pada masa Orde Baru menunjukkan penerimaan yang lebih besar terhadap kepercayaan lintas agama dibandingkan dengan mereka yang menempuh pendidikan sekolah menengah di masa Reformasi. Perbedaan ini mungkin disebabkan oleh kebijakan rezim Orde Baru yang menitikberatkan pada pentingnya persatuan dan stabilitas nasional serta cenderung menentang 'ekstremisme' agama. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar masyarakat yang menyelesaikan pendidikan SLTP/SLTA pasca Orde Baru menunjukkan kecenderungan yang lebih besar dalam aspek sosialisasi dan preferensi politik lintas agama. Temuan penelitian ini juga sangat penting dalam konteks meningkatnya intoleransi dan polarisasi agama saat ini, terutama terkait faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi sikap dan perilaku antarumat beragama dan pentingnya pendidikan dalam mempromosikan nilai-nilai toleransi. Oleh karenanya, penelitian ini menekankan perlunya kajian longitudinal dan komparatif lanjutan tentang hubungan masyarakat lintas agama yang mencakup rentang kelompok usia dan wilayah yang lebih luas.

Abstract

The family planning program, originally established to address the high birth rate in Indonesia, introduced additional challenges by requiring women to participate as family planning acceptors. The imposition of this condition ultimately leads to gender inequity in society due to the reproductive responsibility borne by women. This study seeks to elucidate the understanding and satisfaction of reproductive health rights among highly educated women who have chosen family planning. The research employed a qualitative methodology, utilizing exploratory in-depth interviews as the primary means of data gathering. The findings of this study indicate a deficiency in the informants' understanding of reproductive health and their rights pertaining to reproductive health. The realization of informants' reproductive health rights has not been fully achieved. The findings of this study suggest that gender inequality persists as women continue to bear the whole burden of reproductive responsibilities within the family, mostly owing to limited access to education and the perpetuation of societal prejudices.Program KB (Keluarga Berencana) yang sejatinya muncul sebagai respon atas tingginya angka kelahiran di Indonesia justru menimbulkan permasalahan baru dengan ditetapkannya perempuan sebagai akseptor KB. Penetapan ini akhirnya menciptakan ketidakadilan gender dalam masyarakat karena beban reproduksi yang diemban oleh perempuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana pengetahuan dan pemenuhan hak kesehatan reproduksi perempuan akseptor KB yang berpendidikan tinggi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara mendalam yang bersifat eksploratif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah pengetahuan tentang kesehatan reproduksi dan hak kesehatan reproduksi informan masih kurang. Pemenuhan hak kesehatan reproduksi informan juga belum terpenuhi secara maksimal. Dari hasil penelitian ini mengindikasikan bahwa  ketidakadilan gender masih terjadi karena peran reproduksi dalam keluarga sepenuhnya masih dipegang oleh perempuan yang disebabkan kurangnya edukasi dan stereotipe yang berkembang dalam masyarakat.

Abstract

The prevention and management of social issues that are considered normal are addressed using legal methods, such as implementing social penalties and legal-formal penalties through the court system. This study aims to propose a religious perspective as a means of addressing gangsterism. The research aims to elucidate the application of spiritual principles by the social institution, Padepokan Sapu Jagat, to those who have previously engaged in thuggery. This study employs a qualitative approach through the use of a case study methodology. Data gathering strategies were carried out in three ways, namely: 1) Firstly. The methods employed include the utilization of visual media such as photographs and movies, as well as direct observation at Padepokan Sapu Jagat Sukabumi. Conducted semi-structured interviews with 5 administrators of hermitages and 9 individuals who were previously involved in acts of thuggery. The findings indicated that Padepokan Sapu Jagad used the practice of pencak silat, which encompasses spiritual principles, as a method of exerting social influence over former delinquents. The spiritual ideals are derived from the Qur'an and Hadith, aiming to facilitate a constant transformation in the social conduct of former criminals.Pencegahan dan penanganan masalah sosial normatif dilakukan melalui pendekatan hukum, seperti pemberian sanksi sosial dan sanksi legal-formal melalui proses lembaga peradilan. Penelitian ini bermaksud menawarkan pendekatan relijius sebagai salah satu upaya untuk menangani premanisme. Fokus dari studi adalah mendeskripsikan bagaimana institusi sosial yakni Padepokan Sapu Jagat menerapkan nilai-nilai spiritual kepada mantan pelaku premanisme. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tiga cara, yaitu: 1). Dokumentasi dalam bentuk foto dan video; 2) observasi ke Padepokan Sapu Jagat Sukabumi; dan 3). Wawancara semi terstruktur ke 5 pengurus padepokan dan 9 mantan pelaku aksi premanisme. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Padepokan Sapu Jagad menggunakan pencak silat yang memiliki muatan nilai-nilai spiritual sebagai sarana kontrol sosial para mantan preman. Nilai-nilai spiritual ini diambilkan dari teks Al Quran dan Hadist (perkataan Nabi Muhammad) dengan tujuan agar mantan preman dapat secara konsisten merubah perilaku sosial mereka.

Abstract

The advent of new media has altered the conventional religious authority. Nahdlatul Ulama, one of Indonesia's established religious groups, has been somewhat delayed in harnessing new media platforms, such as its YouTube channel and NU Online website, to disseminate Islamic ideals. Regrettably, NU Online only offers platforms dedicated to the exploration of women's concerns, with female researchers serving as the primary sources of knowledge. This study aims to elucidate the reasons behind the disparity in opportunities between female professors and their male counterparts in the NU media sphere. The study employed a qualitative netnography methodology and examined the data through the lens of Peter L. Berger's Social Construction theory. The findings indicate that the prevailing stereotype of women, namely the perception that women are only supplementary to males, leads to a disparity in the allocation of resources between female and male priests at NU. Female priests, with diverse knowledge and educational capital, should rightfully be recognized as authoritative figures in the realm of religion.Munculnya new media membuat otoritas keagamaan tradisional mengalami pergeseran. Nahdlatul Ulama sebagai salah satu organisasi keagamaan tradisional di Indonesia sedikit terlambat memanfaatkan new media untuk menyebarkan nilai-nilai Islam melalui kanal youtube dan website NU Online. Sayangnya, website NU Online hanya memberi ruang-ruang yang membahas persoalan perempuan saja yang diisi oleh ulama perempuan sebagai narasumber. Penelitian ini mencoba mengungkap kenapa ulama-ulama perempuan ini tidak mendapat kesempatan seluas ulama laki-laki di ruang media NU. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif netnografi dan dianalisis dengan teori Konstruksi Sosial Peter L. Berger. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa stereotype terhadap perempuan, yakni bahwa perempuan hanya dipandang sebagai pelengkap laki-laki, menyebabkan positioning ulama perempuan NU belum mendapat porsi yang seimbang dengan ulama laki-laki. Ulama perempuan dengan berbagai modal pengetahuan dan pendidikan sebetulnya layak diposisikan sebagai pihak yang otoritatif dalam keagamaan.

Abstract

The presence of many beliefs and practices in society necessitates the inclusion of moderation education as a crucial component in individuals' lives, with one approach being the incorporation of local knowledge. This is crucial for fostering social cohesion. This dissertation examines and presents an overview of a specific aspect of the Tallu Lolona philosophy, specifically Lolo Tau, as a means of imparting religious moderation instruction in the lives of the diverse Toraja community. The research methodology employed is descriptive qualitative, namely in the form of a literature review. The findings indicated that the significance of Lolo Tau in the Tallu Lolona philosophy represents a cultural value derived from indigenous knowledge, which may serve as a foundation for imparting religious moderation instruction. The reason for Lolo Tau's reflection of lofty human qualities, such as compassion, honesty, and generosity, is derived from his own character, as well as from other individuals, ancestors, spirits, and the surrounding natural environment. The duty to preserve concord with other people is indissoluble from a duty to the Creator. The findings of this study suggest that religious moderation education should not just rely on interfaith dialogue or religious organizations, but may also be enhanced by including the positive qualities found in local wisdom.Pluritas dalam kehidupan sosial keagamaan memerlukan pendidikan moderasi sebagai sebuah bagian penting untuk ditanamkan dalam kehidupan masyarakat, salah satunya melalui kearifan lokal. Hal ini penting sebagai bagian untuk menciptakan harmonisasi sosial. Tulisan ini menganalisis serta memberikan gambaran mengenai salah satu bagian dari falsafah Tallu Lolona yaitu Lolo Tau sebagai sumber pendidikan moderasi beragama dalam kehidupan masyarakat Toraja yang plural. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif berupa studi Pustaka. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa nilai Lolo Tau dalam falsafah Tallu Lolona merupakan suatu nilai budaya kearifan lokal yang dapat digunakan sebagai sumber pendidikan moderasi beragama. Hal ini  karena Lolo Tau merefleksikan nilai-nilai kemanusiaan yang tinggi, yaitu kebaikan, keikhlasan, dan kemurahan hati yang berasal dari dirinya, sesame manusia, nenek moyang, roh-roh dan alam di sekitarnya. Kewajiban menjaga keharmonisan dengan sesama manusia ini tidak terlepas dari sebuah tanggungjawab terhadap Sang Pencipta. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, harapannya pendidikan moderasi beragama tidak hanya dilakukan melalui dialog antar agama ataupun melalui insitusi keagamaan, namun juga dapat diperkuatkan dengan menggunakan nilai-nilai kebaikan yang ada dalam kearifan lokal.

Abstract

Religious social actors exert significant influence in disseminating their ideas to the public. The people has responded to the movement in religious organisation allegiance from Ustaz Hanan Attaki (UHA) to NU. The objective of this study is to examine the reaction to UHA's shift in religious affiliation, focusing on its impact on Indonesian millennials, who constitute a significant portion of its fan base, as well as the underlying reasons behind this transition. The study employed a qualitative methodology, utilising data retrieval techniques on popular social media platforms such as Instagram and Youtube. The author contends that this shift in affiliation direction demonstrates the robustness of traditional religious authority in Indonesia, where religious actors such as ustaz wield significant influence over societal religious transformation. The results suggest that UHA joined NU with the intention of broadening her activity in preaching the notion of hijrah. By affiliating with NU, he saw a chance to mitigate the past resistance encountered in East Java. This action ultimately elicited both positive and negative reactions from UHA followers on the internet, but it did not demonstrate any signs of causing conflict or exerting influence on the decision to alter UHA's religious affiliation.Aktor sosial keagamaan memegang peranan penting dalam mempromosikan ideologi mereka kepada khalayak. Fenomena bergesernya afiliasi ormas keagamaan dari sosok Ustaz Hanan Attaki (UHA) ke NU telah menimbulkan sejumlah respon dari masyarakat. Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk menganalis respon perubahan afiliasi keagamaan UHA sebagai actor yang sangat popular khususnya di kalangan milineal Indonesia dan apa motif dibalik perubahan afiliasi tersebut. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui penelusuran data-data di sosial media seperti Instagram dan Youtube. Penulis berargumen bahwa perubahan arah afiliasi ini menunjukkan kekuatan otoritas tradisional keagamaan di Indonesia, dimana actor keagamaan seperti ustaz menjadi tokoh yang sangat berpengaruh dalam perubahan sosial keagamaan di masyarakat. Hasil mengindikasikan bahwa UHA bergabung ke NU karena ingin memperluas lahan garap konsep hijrah dalam dakwahnya, dengan bergabung ke NU ada peluang untuk mereduksi penolakan dakwahnya yang pernah terjadi sebelumnya di Jawa Timur. Perpindahan ini pada akhirnya memunculkan respon pro dan kontra di kalangan netizen pengikut UHA, namun demikian tidak menunjukkan adanya indikasi konflik maupun pengaruh atas keputusan perubahan afiliasi keagamaan UHA.
