Abstract

This article aims to find out the accountability of zakat management done by the community leaders or Kiai who do not have documentation in funding and distribution. This study uses the case study approach, one of approaches in qualitative research, which uses interview and observation as the instruments of data collection. The result reveals that accountability, accounting, and functional perspectives have been fulfilled in the zakat management by Kiai. However, two of five characteristics of the accountability system perspective cannot be fulfilled by Kiai as âmil al-zakât, those are the written data presentation and the data publication.  In other words, internally what Kiai does in the zakat management is very accountable. This is because of his science integrity and spirituality. In terms of external accountability loaded with document and neat presentation of data, Kiai somehow cannot fulfill it. This is because the period of management of zakat al-fitr is very short (only a few hours) and the target of zakat distribution is real and known.

Abstract

This research explores how Indonesia and Türkiye construct their foreign policies. This research uses Lene Hansen’s discourse analysis model to closely observe how critical events in global politics, especially after 9/11, influence foreign policymakers throughout the world, especially foreign policymakers in Indonesia and Türkiye. Even though Indonesia and Türkiye had positioned themselves in different positions throughout the Cold War, both countries tried to form new doctrines for their foreign policies as they democratize themselves. To examine this construction, this study will focus on analyzing discourse as one of the instruments used in shaping foreign policy. Using official speeches and statements as primary sources for the discourse analysis, this research shows that one of the discourses that were frequently emphasized in Indonesian and Turkish foreign policy during the 2000s is the discourse of ‘democracy’. From the perspective of Indonesian and Turkish foreign policymakers, the discourse of ‘democracy’ has been placed as one of the core discourses in the process of foreign policy formation of both countries. This discourse has also played a crucial role in determining the regional and global politics of both countries.

Abstract

The rise of modern humanism, with its promise of elevating human dignity through anthropocentrism, has paradoxically contributed to deepening global humanitarian crises. In this context, Islam, as a theocentric (God-centered) worldview, faces the urgent challenge of demonstrating its relevance and adequacy in addressing contemporary human concerns. This article explores the tawḥidic worldview of Alî Sharîʿatî and his critical engagement with modern humanism. Utilizing a qualitative literature review and a descriptive-analytic method, the study examines Sharîʿatî’s primary texts to uncover how his understanding of tawḥid (divine unity) offers a compelling theological alternative to secular humanist paradigms. Sharîʿatî positions tawḥid not only as the central doctrine of Islam but also as a transformative worldview that restores human dignity by re-establishing the vertical relationship between the human and the Divine. In his view, monotheism liberates individuals from subjugation to worldly powers by instilling accountability to a single transcendent authority—God—thereby affirming both human freedom and responsibility. The study argues that Sharîʿatî’s critique of modern humanism— whether in its liberal, Marxist, or existentialist forms—exposes deep contradictions stemming from the philosophical marginalization of the metaphysical. By re-centering the divine in discourse on humanity, Sharîʿatî offers a vision of liberation rooted in spiritual ontology. This research contributes to contemporary Islamic thought and philosophical anthropology by demonstrating how Islamic theology can respond to and critique the failures of modern humanism, offering an ethically grounded framework for addressing today’s pressing humanitarian challenges.

Abstract

This article critically examines the ideality and effectiveness of Indonesia’s amended Marriage Law in curbing child marriage, a persistent socio-legal issue with deep-rooted cultural and religious dimensions. Despite legal reforms, child marriage continues to occur at alarming rates, raising questions about the law’s capacity to address structural and normative barriers. Employing Lawrence M. Friedman’s legal system theory, this study analyzes the problem through the interrelated dimensions of legal structure, legal culture, and legal substance. Methodologically, this research adopts a normative-empirical legal approach, integrating doctrinal legal analysis with socio-legal inquiry to assess the sources, functionality, and enforcement of relevant legal instruments. Findings reveal a critical tension between the amended law and prevailing cultural norms. In the dimension of legal culture, the entrenched influence of kitab kuning—traditional Islamic legal texts—continues to shape societal attitudes and justify early marriage, thereby weakening the law’s preventive potential. From the perspective of legal substance, the absence of explicit sanctions for violators constitutes a significant legal loophole, undermining the deterrent effect of the amendment. Nonetheless, in the dimension of legal structure, the issuance of Supreme Court Regulation No. 5 of 2019—governing judicial review of marriage dispensation cases—reflects a proactive institutional response aimed at restricting the practice. This study underscores the urgency of harmonizing legal reform with cultural transformation and institutional enforcement. Its contribution lies in highlighting the multi-dimensional challenges of legal ideality in child marriage prevention and offering a systemic framework for more effective policy implementation.

Abstract

The study discusses the indicator of customer loyalty of Islamic banks according to Griffin's perspective and several relevant studies. The problems solved in this study are 1) what is the indicator of customer loyalty of Islamic banks according to Griffin? 2) what is the indicator of customer loyalty of Islamic banks according to some relevant studies? and 3) how is the comparison of Islamic bank customer loyalty indicators according to Griffin and other relevant studies? Based on the theoretical assumption, a customer is considered loyal if he/she makes regular purchase in a certain time interval. This study utilizes descriptive qualitative research with a library research approach. Deduction and comparative are done in analysis technique. Griffin’s theory focuses on behavioral and attitudinal approach. Meanwhile, other relevant research studies emphasize more on physical things, the availability of banking facilities and infrastructure. They also classified the loyalty into affective, conative, and action loyalty. There is a difference in Griffin’s theory and other studies, that customer loyalty is influenced by maqâsid al-sharî'ah. It means that the customer loyalty is determined by satisfactory level referring to sharia values.

Abstract

The following article examines the Naqshbandî Ḥaqqânî order as a spiritual oasis amidst urban life. This order has massively developed around the world, including in Indonesia through The Rumi Centre located in urban area. This ṭarîqa immerses followers in the philosophy of detachment from material possessions, which appeals to urban dwellers who live busy lives. The Naqshbandî Ḥaqqânî order's expansion is further supported by its simplified membership requirements and da’wah digitalization. This research using qualitative methods including participant observation, interviews, and literature studies to discover how The Rumi Center fulfills the spiritual needs of urban followers. The results show that this ṭarîqa successfully balances the lives of its followers through the daily practice of dzikr. Although the followers find solace and spiritual growth by detachment from material possessions, this philosophy may not resonate with every urban dweller. Their strong sufi tradition in their teachings do not resonate with all urban dwellers. The research's focus on urban areas imposes research’s limitations on those who are genuinely seeking alternative religious outside of mainstream religion. The emphasis on inner spirituality, dzikr practice, and end-of-day arrival teaching distinguish this ṭarîqa from mainstream urban religious practices.

Abstract

This article aims to test the suitability of sharia funding by referring to the MUI Fatwa on the halal industry in the Indonesian capital market with a benchmark of sharia compliance based on. Event study before and after the Covid-19 pandemic, where the focus of the problem and the hypothesis of this research is on whether there is a change in the level of abnormal Return of the 30 ISSI stock samples. Observations were made before the government's announcement about Covid-19 pandemic, which was around the end of january 2020 and after entering the new normal, which was around the beginning of August 2020. The results of this study indicate that the significant figures both before and after the Covid-19 pandemic on ISSI sharia shares are less than 0.05, which means that ISSI shares do not have abnormal returns, so the research results are in line with the MUI Fatwa Article 5 concerning Securities Transactions. Article 5 discusses transaction mechanisms that are not allowed such as gharâr, maysîr, usurî, and risywah speculating and manipulation. To be appropriate because what is meant by abnormal returns in the capital market is often influenced by speculation and manipulation so that prices are no longer reasonable. The research hypothesis is rejected as an alternative to continuously to trust investor funding in the Indonesian islamic capital market industry.

Abstract

The article studies the metaphysical roots of prophethood from the perspective of perennial philosophy. The main problem discussed here is what is meant by “prophet as logos”. The discussion is around the principles of metaphysic which is typical of perennial philosophy. Employing library research included in qualitative methodology, the study delves into the key texts of perennial philosophers about prophethood. The primary data were taken and interpreted from the masterpieces of the renowned perennial philosophers: Frithjof Schuon, Seyyed Hossein Nasr, and William Stoddart. The secondary data were from relevant literature from books and articles. The study reveals that prophet is a reflection of the Absolute which is the seed of the universe (cosmological function), the saver (prophetic function), and the guide (initiative function) of humans. In Islam system, the “prophet as logos” is represented by Muhammad. Physically, he is just a man delegated by Allah, meanwhile spiritually, Muhammad is the “logos”.

Abstract

Pre-employment program jockey is an agent who seeks a job for the community and obtains a fee from the services. The practice is particularly carried out related to the pre-employment card program launched by the government in 2020. This article describes the practice of pre-employment jockey and to analyze sharia economic law review on the profit. This article implemented qualitative research. The primary data were obtained through interview, observation and documentation, while the analysis was conducted descriptively. The research reveals that the jockey practice has assisted people to register pre-employment card program in 2020. The assistance consisted of account registration, training, and filling survey. The incentive given to the approved people is IDR 3.550.000 but the transparency about the exact number is not precisely informed to the account owner. It can be more than the said amount or, even worse, the jockey got more incentive. This is inappropriate in sharia economic law. Ijarah principles are not applied here because there is no transparency, the willingness of account owner and justice; instead, the service contains ghulûl (corruption) and gharâr (scam) done by the jockey since what they did can be included as treason.
