Abstract

Abstract: Some people believe that the communication policy determines the communication system. However, communication policy should be made to create good communication system. It means that to make the communication policy, people should considering the prior communication system. Relating to the interactive media policy, as a kind of communication policy, made by the Indonesian government, this article is intended to explore the relation between that policy and the Indonesian communication system. This article offers the thesis that the interactive media policy has been made by the government without fully considering to the communication system. It is indicated by: (1) not seriously considering the nature of interactive media, (2)not seriously enforcing people to make the social changes, and (3) not responsive.

Abstract

Abstract: Business newspaper has eliciting competition over source life of supporting media industry, i.e. capital, types of content and types of audience. This research explains the newspaper’s competition based on advertiser satisfaction as a benchmark of media effectiveness. Adopting the theory of uses & gratification and using variables of gratification sought and gratification obtained, these studies examine 5 local newspapers in Yogyakarta. The instrument of competitive strategy is using for further analysis, consisting of superiority direction and superiority magnitude measurements. The results showed that advertising agencies haven’t felt the satisfaction of the services provided by the local newspaper. Key words: competition, gratification sought, gratification obtained, superiority direction, superiority magnitude .Abstrak: Bisnis surat kabar telah memunculkan kompetisi yang memperebutkan sumber penunjang hidup industri media, yakni modal, isi media, dan jenis audiens. Penelitian ini menjelaskan kompetisi tersebut berdasarkan kepuasan pengiklan sebagai tolok ukur efektivitas media. Mengadopsi teori uses & gratification dengan menggunakan variabel gratification sought dan gratification obtained, penelitian ini menguji lima surat kabar lokal di Yogyakara. Selanjutnya dianalisis dengan menggunakan instrumen competitive superiority, terdiri dari superiority direction dan superiority magnitude. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa biro iklan belum merasakan kepuasan dari layanan yang diberikan oleh jasa surat kabar lokal.

Abstract

Abstract: Corruption has been rooted and institutionalized in our smallest environment. The campaign to fight corruption comes from various organizations through numerous varieties of means. This study looks at the Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK) campaign through a film entitled “Kita Versus Korupsi”. This study uses narrative analysis by looking at the elements of narrative, narrative structure, the analysis model of aktan and the Greimas’ semiotic square. It is found that the film narrates corruption as trouble and resistor. The various forms of corruption are narrated using the combination of techniques scene, dialogue and flashback.Abstrak: Korupsi sudah mengakar dan melembaga hingga lingkungan terkecil kita. Kampanye untuk melawannya datang dari berbagai pihak melalui beragam sarana. Penelitian ini melihat kampanye Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK) melalui film “Kita Versus Korupsi”. Menggunakan metode analisis naratif dengan melihat unsur naratif, struktur naratif, analisis model aktan dan oposisi segi empat Algirdas Greimas, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa korupsi dinarasikan sebagai gangguan dan penghambat. Film tersebut selalu menghadapkan pelaku korupsi dengan pihak yang tidak korupsi secara langsung. Latar belakang pengetahuan tokoh utama tentang korupsi berpengaruh dalam pengambilan keputusannya. Berbagai bentuk korupsi dinarasikan dengan teknik penggabungan scene, dialog dan flashback.

Abstract

Abstract: Mass media, especially, press have important rules in the democration process. There are three criteria to evaluate performance of the press. Press as a civic forum, it’s related to Habermas’s public sphere that there is space for citizen to discuss about public interest in the free condition. Press as a watch-dog, that it’s means press has to protec minority rights from malfuntion of majority power. Press as a mobilization agent, it’s medium to increase society involment in the politic process.

Abstract

Abstract : The objective of this research is to analyze the differences on the effectiveness of role playing and role model methods applied in social campaign program. Role playing and role model are the methods in social learning theory–as a part of persuasion theories–which implicates to behavior change by affecting with modeling and participate of the target adopters. The social campaign “Produk Pangan Olahan Sagu” adopts these two methods to persuade target adopters to change their behavior as its campaign goal.

Abstract

Munculnya gerakan sosial baru di ranah ruang virtual merupakan kajian menariksetelah Rheingold (1993) mencoba merumuskan konsep masyarakat virtual. Gerakan sosial baru saat ini mulai masuk di ruang publik virtual sebagai ruang berbagi untuk publik. Artikel ini akan menganalisis seberapa jauh gerakan sosial baru memasuki ruang publik virtual khususnya pada kasus Satinah. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa ruang virtual telah mampu menjadi ruang publik bagi masyarakat untuk mempertahankan diri serta melakukan perlawanan melalui aktivitas kolektif warga yang digerakkan oleh aktor-aktor tertentu.

Abstract

The existence of codes of conduct in communication field is still interesting to be discussed. Not many practioners and people consider to this conduct while they were doing their jobs. They have major problems in dealing with ethics issues, especially when communicationg in the publics arena. Communications freedom and communications technology are accussed as caustive prima of communications ethics problems. To solve the problem, this article proposes self regulations to control our communication behaviour .

Abstract

Abstract: Press freedom in Indonesia is not apart from its accountabilities for particular delicts as set forth in Press Act and Criminal Law currently revised in line with the development of era and Indonesian cultures. Accountabilities of the press for delicts include humiliation, slandering, and pornography where such involved parties shall account for. Meanwhile, legal aspects for such involved parties include editor, writer, publisher, printing agency and distributors, with more advantageous legal position compared to the ones of non-press delicts.

Abstract

Abstract: The objectives of this research were to explain the characteristic of the newspaper’s profile of fishery and marine development, to compare the objectiveity of the reports based on the result of censuses of fishery and marine science and mass media experts’ opinions, to study the policy of news on fishery and marine development on Kaltim Post newspaper editorial staff. The respondents were chosen by using purposive sampling method and were supported by disproportional stratifed random sampling method for news sample clipped for evaluation from the panelist expert team. The data obtained was then analyszed by using content analysist method. The research findings show that the subject matter proportion frequency and volume are mainly dominated with news on marketing and the type of writing is dominated with news, it is also dominated with positive tendencies and non-headlines. The panelist expert team and the mass media expert gave much kind of opinion to the news. Based on the census result, the news is presented enough objectively. The reseacrh findings show that news on fishery and marine development is still considered as a minor discourse by Kaltim Post.

Abstract

Abstract: Women and sexual attraction is to be one weapon in the arsenal of the ads. In the version of AXE advertisement “Turun Harga”, the author indicates the presence of the commodification of women. This paper discusses how the signs set in them to communicate with the target and how the structure of the message that commodificate women. The method of analysis used in this paper is semiotics Greimasian combined with Marxian feminist perspective. Abstrak: Perempuan dan daya tarik seksual merupakan senjata dalam iklan. Dalam iklan Axe versi “Turub Harga”, peneliti mendapatkan sajian komodifikasi perempuan. Artikel ini mendiskusikan bagaimana tanda-tanda dirangkai untuk erkomunikasi dengan target dan bagaimana struktur pesan yang mengkomodifikasi perempuan. Metode analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Semiotika Greimasian yang dikombinasikan dengan perspektif Feminis Marxisme.
