Abstract

AbstractMost women have a concern toward their physical appearance.Therefore, they often compare their physical appearance, especially their body shape, with other women’s body shapes which are more attractive. The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between social comparison and body dissatisfaction among early adult women. Social comparison is the process of comparing oneself with others, whereas body dissatisfaction is the negative individual’s feelings, thoughts, and evaluation toward her body shape. Social comparison and body dissatisfaction were measured using Body Comparison Scale (BCS) and Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ). The participants were 104 female students of Faculty of Psychology, University of Surabaya aged 18-25 years old. The result showed that social comparison was positively correlated with body dissatisfaction among early adult women (r= .636, p< .05). It means that the early adult women are more prone to experience higher bodydissatisfaction if they more often compare their body shapes with more attractive women.Keywords: body dissatisfaction, early adult women, social comparison

Abstract

AbstractThe key of the successful character education program are teachers, school employees and all the school environment because the focus of the character education is the school culture especially kindergarten children who are at the early stage of education. The accomplishment of character education at school is impeded the teachers who are have not understood on how to integrate it into school subjects. The purpose of this research isto test the training of My Plan My Success in improving kindergarten teacher’s ability toward the arrangement of the learning program for character education in young children. This research involved 36 teachers which were divided into experimental (18 teachers) and control (18 teachers) group, using experimental design: untreated control group design with dependent pretest and posttes samples using switching replication. The result of the data analysis that uses analysis data methode namely mixed anova shows there is different ability in the arrangement of learning program for character education in young children significantly (F=8,576; p<0,01). The training gives the effective contribution to experimental group as much as 61,7%. The ability of the,arrangement of learning program forcharacter education in young children in the experimental group is improving (MD=-6,824; p<0,01), after getting intervention. As well as the control group, after getting intervention, there ability is getting improve (MD=-5,765; p<0,00).Keywords : learning program for character education in young children, preschool teacher training.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to obtain empirical data about the pictureof adjustment at class XI  Pasundan high school 2. The methodology inthis research used descriptive study. The population of this study was 340students in grade XI and the samples were 181 students. The sampleswere taken used cluster random sampling technique by looking at theKrejcie table. Collecting data used adjustment scale developed byresearchers based on the theory of adjustment from Schneiders. Data wereobtained in the form of ordinal data and analyzed using the median andPercentage (%). The results showed that as many as 86 students (47.5%)could be well adjusted, and 95 students (52.5%) could not be well adjusted.In addition the result showed that students with authoritative parenting andwere not influenced by peers is the most well adjusted.

Abstract

AbstrakPenemuan dan kemajuan teknologi dilakukan oleh orang-orang kreatif. Pribadi kreatifdapat terbentuk melalui diri sendiri dan lingkungan. Pribadi kreatif setidaknya memilikikarakteristik : mempunyai kemampuan intelektual yang tinggi; menghargai kebebasan dankemandirian; lancar mengemukakan dalam pikiran; mengemukakan kesan-kesan keindahan;dan mempunyai sifat pribadi yang produktif, minat yang tinggi, tulus, tampil apa adanya, danterus terang. Selajutnya lingkungan yang membentuk pribadi kreatif adalah lingkungankeluarga; lingkungan sekolah.Puncak dari kreativitas yang didapat di dalam diri pribadi kreatif apabila berakhlakmulia. Hanya manusia kreatif yang hidupnya berdasarkan Qur’an dan Sunnah, akanmembawa kehidupan sosial yang sehat dan sejahtera dalam suatu perubahan masyarakatyang fluktuatif.

Abstract

Behavior emerges from a continuous process, which begins with theindividuals perception, internalization of the concept, to the covert behavior.Behavior is the result of experience. This study aims to test models ofdelinquency. Delinquency as a continuous learning process of behaviorfrom mild to serious. The subjects were junior and high school students asmany as 182 people from 3 schools that obtained by random. The datawere analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) showed thatdelinquency was a behavior that basically formed an ongoing basis. Familieshave the highest impact when compared with peers and the media.Conditions will be worsened if the child has a strain in delinquency bringlight and progress to serious delinquency.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya perbedaan sosialisasiantara siswa kelas akselerasi dan kelas regular. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 18 siswa darikelas akselerasi dan 18 siswa dari kelas regular di Sekolah Menengah Pertama MuhammadiyahII Yogyakarta. Subjek dibagi dalam dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompokkontrol.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental  The Pretest-posttest ControlGroup Design, yaitu desain eksperimen yang dilakukan dengan jalan melakukan pengukuranatau observasi awal sebelum perlakuan diberikan (pretest ) dan setelah perlakuan ( posttest)pada kelompok eksperimen (siswa kelas akselerasi) dan kelompok kontrol (siswa kelas regular).Pada penelitian ini analisis data yang dilakukan berdasarkan gained score,  hal tersebutdilakukan dengan asumsi bahwa penelitian ini dilakukan pada dua kelompok yang memilikikondisi awal yang berbeda.Hasil analisis dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis yang diajukan ditolak,yakni tidak ada perbedaan sosialisasi antara siswa kelas akselerasi dan regular. Abstract

In the middle age, adjustment to developmental tasks will affect marital relationship. This study aimed to determine the cohesiveness of husband and wife who have entered middle adulthood, covering aspects of solidarity, marital satisfaction, interest, and affiliates and also the factors that affectthe cohesiveness of husband and wife when the marriage age of 20 years or more. Subjects are three pairs of husband and wife who are legally married for over 20 years and each individuals age between 40-60 years old. This qualitative research used the case study approach and collected data by semi-structured interviews and nonparticipant observation. The results showed that the cohesiveness of husband and wife owned in middle age is different in each pair. In the first couple showed low cohesion, high on the second couple, and medium for the third couple. In the third couple,there is a change before the peak of the conflict in mid-2011 by now. Factors that affect the cohesiveness of husband and wife in middle age is a social perception, social support, emotional regulation, a period of quiet in the middle ages, the intensity of togetherness, understanding of gender, temperament, and love.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research focuses on Pengkid. It is a term or a slang used in Malaysia to refer to lesbians in the butch category. They are a group of individuals who are having non-traditional sexual orientation,in which they are sexually attracted to biologically-defined women. This research was conducted in order to focus on their sources and level of stress and a semi-structured interview schedule wasadministered with 25 pengkid participants from Pulau Pinang, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Participants were recruited through various methods including from Malaysian Pengkid official website and snowballing technique.Various challenges related to day-to-day life were reported by participants. However, financial problems, conflicts in work place or study place and conflictswith girlfriends have been identified as their main sources of stress. Since they are supporting families, girlfriends and themselves, they face financial problems almost every month. At the same time, having more expenses compared to their income also caused this problem. Findings show that Malaysian Pengkid does not face any kind of problems or stress because of their identity. Malaysia’s Pengkid seems to face the same problem that is faced by people with traditional sexual orientation and. They also do not have critical stress level and it is still manageable.Keywords: pengkid, lesbian, stress, life challenges

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was aimed to verify whether parenting training could improve the understanding about ADHD and quality care on parents of preschool children with ADHD. The research design was quasi experimental with non-randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The participants on this study were six people that were parents of preschool children with ADHD. This study tookplace in Jogja Citra preschool-kindergarten-day care, Pleret, Bantul. This research used Wilcoxon Mann Whitney and Kruskal Wallis as statistical analysis. The findings indicate that parenting training could improve parents understanding on ADHD and also improving the quality care of parents towards preschool children with ADHD. The data processing shows 0.039 < 0.05 for significance level of the understanding towards ADHD and 0.039 < 0.05 for quality care. The significance level of Kruskal Wallis hypothetical test is 0.020 < 0.05.Keywords: parenting training, understanding on ADHD, quality care
