Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the development of the entrepreneurial character values of students in building the character of the Indonesian Nation in the State Vocational High School (SMKN) 2 Lubuk Basung. These character values are creative, hard work, disciplined and honest. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Informants in this study were the principal, teachers, heads of departments and students. Data collected through interviews, observation and documentation. Data validity test is done by checking (triangulation) by checking the correctness of the data then comparing the data obtained from other sources. The data obtained were analyzed by referring to the Miles and Huberman analysis model with steps namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing (verification). The results of this study explain that coaching entrepreneurial character through entrepreneurial learning. The character form of honesty of students is to sell the results of their own practice by reporting the results to the teacher, doing assignments honestly. Discipline Character completes assignments and enters class on time, using practice clothes when practice. The character of hard work completing tasks in accordance with the specified time, looking for information relating to the given task. The creative character determines the product to be produced, resolves obstacles with its own abilities.

Abstract

This research is aimed to know students perception concering to lecturer’s performance in block system learning model. Focus and research subject is students informatics managemen study program in LP3I Polytechnic. This research using quantitavie descrivtive method with likert scale survey questionnaire. The results of this research after analyzing questionnaire data from students with the 200 population an take only 67 as respondent after counting using Slovin formula, that we have known: 1) students experience in learning process we got highest mean score 3.92%; 2) learning plan as lecturer prepared before learning process in questionnaire statement “lecturer prepare and and use learning design on semester (RPS) as guidelines for learning implementation proses” was getting highest mean score 3,79%; 3) in implementation learning that have done by lecturer, was getting highest mean score on 4,01% and lowest mean score on 3.26%; 4) in assessment learning, got mean score on 3.65%; 5) in infrastructures, we got highest mean score on 3.82% and lowest mean score on 3.29% from questionnaire statement of “the classroom and the laboratory capacity is support for getting purpose success leaning; 6) the last components is the use of technology in learning we got mean score 3.37%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how electronic word of mouth (eWOM) on TripAdvisor affects travel intention of tourists to Nuart Sculpture Park Bandung. The problem in this study is focused on the influence of eWOM on tourist travel intention due to the current development of the internet helps tourist destinations to market their products. In addition, TripAdvisor was chosen in this study as a platform that has a role as a very popular online travel review site by displaying reviews from tourists and can be read by other travelers. To approach this problem, this study uses Ajzen’s statement (2015) which mentions that travel intention can be predicted from 3 factors, namely behavioral beliefs, normative beliefs, and control beliefs. This research uses descriptive quantitative method, by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents, and analyzed using descriptive statistical data analysis techniques along with simple linear regression. This study concludes that tourist travel intention can be influenced by electronic word of mouth by 61.1% while 38.9% is influenced by other factors.

Abstract

Openness of public information is one of the pillars of freedom of expression and the pillars of democracy, transparency and good governance. To encourage public participation, Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Openness of Public Information was born. The provision regulates social norms to obtain data access and guarantees that each individual fulfills his basic rights. This research is focused on the implications of these regulations at the University of Jambi. As a public body, the University of Jambi is required to apply all the provisions that have been set. Aside from being a controlling system, this policy must be addressed as part of bureaucratic reform, especially regarding good governance so that the fundamental changes that occur are directly proportional to the area of change desired. The research methodology uses the normative type of jurisprudence, namely by examining the legal literature through the study of documents with the nature of analytic description so as to produce systematic factual basis.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out cause, form and supporting and inhibiting dimensions of character education civilizing process based on local wisdom in SMA Batik 2 Surakarta, Indonesia. The problem is focused on the character-building process informal education. To approach this problem the theoretical reference is used the civilizing process of theory by Norbert Elias. Data is collected through used were observation, in-depth interview and documentation and analyzed qualitatively.  This study concludes that there was an unprepared condition of psychogenesis and sociogenesis in the local wisdom-based character education civilizing process.  The novelty of this research is the analysis of character education based on local wisdom with the perspective of the theory of civilization Norbert Elias. The presence of local content policy in school curriculum structure, adequate school infrastructure, and supporting school and foundation management served to be the main supporting dimension. Internal inhibiting dimension included the school stakeholders’ poor awareness of understanding and implementing local wisdom value in daily life and poor synergy in cultural local content learning in organizing and developing teaching material. External inhibiting dimension included no government regulation governing the integration of local wisdom content into every subject, less optimum role and cooperation of social environment, and parents’ low commitment to supporting the process of civilizing character education based on local wisdom.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of anxiety facing work termination on employee motivation at PT X Salatiga. The sample in this study amounted to 73 respondents who are still active employees working at PT X. The sampling technique is done by simple random sampling. Data collection uses a psychological scale that is the scale of work motivation based on Abraham Maslow's motivation theory and anxiety facing retirement scale based on the theory put forward by Oluseyi & Olufemi. The data used are primary data analyzed using a simple linear regression test. The results showed that anxiety facing work termination affects work motivation by 26.8% while the remaining 73.2% is influenced by other variables not examined. The researcher can then study based on age, position and also examine other variables that are factors of work motivation, for example marital status between married employees compared to employees who have not married, the length of service of employees in a company.

Abstract

This research aims to obtain an overview of gender equality in the Talent Group Interest (KBM) activities at Satya Wacana Christian University. This research used a qualitative method, where each data is taken from the observation and interviews with the research subject consisting of the Chairman and members of the KBM existing in the University and the validity technique of data using the triangulation of the source and method. The results found in this study were that gender equality and the opportunities that women had in occupying certain positions existed in each KBM were the same and there was no distinction between women and men, especially in terms of leadership. It is explained that anyone can occupy a specific position with conditions and criteria that have been determined and must be able to be accountable to the KBM. It proves that men and women have the same rights to continue to arise and strive for the sake of the KBM. Besides some of the advantages of the KBM if led by women have the opportunity to be more advanced, because women are seen more thoroughly and more attention to detail matters. The weakness that can arise when it is not possible to decline when women are difficult in determining decisions and need support from other members of both men and women to find the solutions.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in critical thinking skills of Visual Communication Design studens at Universitas Dinamika in the mass media. This research focuses on the ability to identify, discover, and solve problems. Researcher used a film medium called "Green Hornet" (2011) by Michel Gondry combined with the discovery learning model. This film tells the story of the production process of the media (newspapers) in the hands of readers. There are interference from media owners, journalists, and other conditions on an issue that will be published by the media. The "discovery learning" model provides an opportunity for students to actively search for, gather, and compile information in order to describe a knowledge. While a lecturer provide data or instructions (models) to find out what students must learn. The lecturer must also review and provide a review of the student's independent learning outcomes. Researcher ask questions that fit the indicators of critical thinking using newspapers and television media. The results of this study were the students' critical thinking skills improved. In cycle 1, students are able to increase their critical power when identifying titles, subtitles, words, phrases, sentences, paragraphs, and captions. While in cycle 2, improvement occurs when students identify images or visuals, tables, charts, and problem solving.

Abstract

This study discusses school-based management in relation to developing the quality of students. The purpose of this study is to determine and analyze the steps of each component of school management that affect the quality development of students. To approach this problem, the theoretical references used by G.A. Cole regarding open system management, and also a theory about the concept Total Quality Management. The research method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. Data collection was obtained through observation, interview, and documentation techniques. This study concludes that the development of the quality of students can be supported through a good management process, the components that influence it include the instrumental input component, including the role of a good headmaster, competent educational resources and teaching staff, complete and supporting infrastructure facilities, components environmental input includes establishing good relations with the school environment, parents, and related institutions, the process component includes the management of a conducive learning process, and the implementation of school culture as a manifest of the hidden curriculum, the output component is enhancement the quality of students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of career development and job training on work motivation of the employees of the Langsa City Cut Nyak Dhien Hospital. The population in this study were all employees totaling 34 people. The sampling technique was non-probability sampling with saturated sampling, so that all populations were sampled in this study. The results showed that the resulting liner regression model was Y = 5.597 - 0.192X1 - 0.054X2. Career development variables have a negative effect on employee work motivation by -0.192 and job training variables have a negative effect on employee motivation by -0.054, so that career development and job training do not need to be given at this time because of 5.597 values which have very good meanings the work motivation of the employees of the Langsa City Cut Nyak Dhien Hospital at this time. Partially career development and job training have an insignificant effect on employee motivation. And simultaneously career development and job training have an insignificant effect on employee motivation. Based on the value of the coefficient of determination, only 4% of career development and job training variables can explain the variables of work motivation for the employees of the Langsa City Cut Nyak Dhien Hospital.
