Abstract

The world community order has undergone a revolution along with the development of increasingly massive information and communication technology. All aspects of life are filled by the movement of communication through cyber media that is useful for crossing the limitations of space and time. This revolution then brought a lot of convenience in connecting cross-community relations or creating new community spaces in the internet network. This communication media produces a lot of data so that it can be used by several other users as a reference in mapping people's habits that can be coordinated by certain communities to facilitate the problems that are present. The involvement of people's lives and Internet-based information technology media is called revolution Society 5.0. As a problem solving-based education, Visual Communication Design that utilizes media as a means of communication must be able to blend in the space. This paper attempts to describe the role of DKV Education in the Society of Society 5.0. The method used is a literature review from various study sources, both from research and from the thoughts of other authors. So that new ideas will be obtained in opening new insights to produce Graduate Achievements that can be useful for the Society 5.0.

Abstract

Abstract. Karjo T-shirt merchandise has an appeal as a medium in promoting Purworejo through the visual themes of t-shirt designs that are presented. This creation is an offer for Karjo who is building brand awareness as a souvenir of Purworejo. Karjo tried to invite the people of Purworejo to be proud of the uniqueness of the city.Karjo's visual branding took advantage of the homecoming moment and gave memories to the travelers when there was a chance for a reunion, in the form of painting t-shirts for children and families under the name of the Karjo Makaryo event.This creation method uses design thinking method that begins with exploring the Karjo problem, then empathizes through social media Suwarto to the Karjo brand and conducts interviews. Based on observations, the ideas that will be processed into visual identity of Karjo Makaryo's activities will emerge and apply them to the publication media as a prototype of Karjo's branding which is expected to be carried out routinely.Relevance to Visual Communication Design Practice: Karjo Makaryo's visual identity became the beginning of a communication strategy as part of brand activation.

Abstract

Remaja perempuan yang sudah memasuki usia pubertas akan mengalami beberapa perubahan pada tubuhnya, salah satunya mengalami menstruasi. Menstruasi merupakan salah satu tanda bahwa organ reproduksi telah berfungsi dengan baik. Dalam masyarakat umum, menstruasi seringkali dianggap sebagai hal yang tabu untuk dibahas sehingga berakibat pada kurangnya pengetahuan remaja perempuan mengenai menstruasi. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, penulis merancang sebuah buku ilustrasi yang berisi informasi seputar menstruasi sebagai media edukasi bagi remaja perempuan yang sedang dalam masa pubertas. Diharapkan melalui perancangan buku ilustrasi ini, remaja perempuan bisa lebih paham dan siap dalam menghadapi masa menstruasi.

Abstract

Program studi Desain Komunikasi Visual (DKV) tidak bisa lepas dalam ruang multi disiplin ilmu, teknologi dan industri. Masa pandemi ini ”memaksa” dunia pendidikan Desain Komunikasi Visual untuk beradaptasi dengan kondisi yang disebut dengan new normal ini. Metode pembelajaran yang tadinya dilakukan secara manual saat ini berubah menjadi digital. Bagaimanapun juga kualitas pembelajaran harus dapat ditingkatkan dengan fokus kepada outcome, dimana kontribusi civitas akademika diharapkan bisa lebih berdampak ke masyarakat. Prodi DKV sejak tahun 2006 telah melihat perlunya mahasiswa beraktivitas di luar kampus dan mendedikasikan ilmunya sekaligus menggali ilmu dari dunia luar lewat program yang dinamakan Service-Learning (S-L). Service-Learning adalah suatu program dimana mahasiswa belajar sekaligus memberikan pelayanan kepada masyarakat dan dalam prosesnya membutuhkan refleksi. Proses ini melibatkan kolaborasi dengan berbagai pihak, baik dari mahasiswa, UMKM, dosen dan juga industri. Melalui kurikulum baru, prodi DKV Universitas Kristen Petra mengembangkan Outcome Based Education Leadership Enhancement Program (OBE LEAP) yang memberikan kebebasan pada mahasiswa untuk memilih jalur minat pada tugas akhirnya, sehingga Service-Learning yang dulunya hanya dilakukan di mata kuliah, saat ini banyak diangkat sebagai tugas akhir. Pemanfaatan media digital menjadi suatu keharusan untuk menggantikan cara-cara yang konvensional seperti diskusi dan konsultasi dengan tatap muka, pameran dan penjualan. Media digital ternyata dapat memberikan berbagai inovasi dan kreativitas  yang selain berfungsi sebagai sarana komunikasi dapat memberikan nilai ekonomis. Bahkan peran media digital dapat membuat Service-Learning ini berkelanjutan.

Abstract

The use of hijab in Indonesia is now very widespread. The rise of changes in the appearance of women in Indonesia for the hijab in public spaces, also colored by the hijab of artists who used to decorate the screen and social media, changed from previous appearances that tend to be sexy and open. The term migratory artist also surfaced. Research that discusses the visual image and representation of hijab women has indeed been done a lot, but specifically about hijrah artists who are veiled that appear in online media, is not much. For this reason, this study tries to describe how the representation and visual image of migrants in online media in Indonesia.This study rests on Stuart Hall's representation theory, visual image theory, and framing analysis. Samples taken by purposive sampling decided to observe Instagram belonging to migrants: Mulan Jameela, Laudya Cyntha Bella, Cut Meyriska, and Rachel Vennya. Each sample is discussed in terms of lifestyle, endorse, gossip about the artist's personal, as well as online media that often broadcast news about him.In the context of migratory artists, changing their appearance becomes an easy target for the audience. The artists emigrated as celebrities in online media, of course they could not be separated from how the visual image of their social media each dealing with online media portal framing. No matter how hard the artist tries to display a good self-image, there will always be netizens who comment in a scathing tone, balanced with positive comments from supporters. The representation and visual image of a migratory artist must be viewed positively, although it cannot be interpreted as a spectacular awakening of religiousity, but it is still limited to financial gain.

Abstract

Ronggowarsito is one of the iconic museums in Semarang. Like other museums, the classic problem of this museum is lack of visitors. Some factors that cause it such as bad management, the promotion and branding of museum which is  poor of innovation, and also absence of collaboration with other parties such as academician, practician, and artist in creating interesting events. These various problems encourage the needs of museum revitalization creatively and innovatively and also up to date with technology and lifestyle nowaday. This research uses qualitative approach. Data are gained through observation, interview, documentation, and literature study methods. These data are used to design interactive-based museum revitalization product through design thinking and SMCR commnication to breakdown product contents. This research has a result an desktop-based interactive application called “KiosK Museum Ranggawarsita”. This product can present information in form of text, audio, and video interactively. This product can be developed further to success a program of museum management namely “Museum goes to school”, so that it will be a tool on museum introducing through academic visitations, seminars, and exhibition around city in Central Java.
