Abstract

The objective of this research is to determine whether periods of market down- turn are accompanied by herding behavior among investors. During the Covid-19 pandemic, not only the stock market but also the number of investors in the Indonesian capital market increased significantly. The increase in new investors is also accompanied by an increase in herding behavior, as these new investors have limited experience and literacy in investing in the capital market. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling, with a total of 196 investor samples collected. The analysis method used was Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square. The research findings indicate that investor cognitive psychology and market information influence herding behavior among investors. However, stock characteristics do not affect herding behavior. Socio-economic factors moderate the influence of investor cognitive psychology and market information.

Abstract

This study meticulously examines the moderating effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between transformational leadership, work environment, and employee performance in civil service police units members of Kampar Regency. The research method employs the SEM-PLS approach to provide better triangulation and elaboration of cases. Data is collected through surveys and follow-up interviews with civil service police officers in Kampar Regency as respondents. The findings reveal that transformational leadership style has a significant positive effect on employee performance, while the work environment has no significant effect. Transformational leadership style significantly influences performance through job satisfaction as a mediator. However, the work environment has no significant effect on performance through job satisfaction. These results highlight that leadership style and job satisfaction undeniably influence employee performance, but their effectiveness depends on various situational and contextual factors in civil service police units as public service agencies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of religiosity on MSME’s performance using a quantitative method. Primary data were collected by distributing questionnaires to the MSME’s owners and managers. Employing purposive sampling technique, a total of 300 respondents were recruited. SMART PLS SEM 3.0 approach was implemented to analyze the data. One result show that there is a positive and significant relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and MSME’s performance. Another result is that there is a positive and significant correlation between religiosity on entrepreneurial orientation, but there is a positive and insignificant correlation between religiosity on MSME’s performance. The interesting finding in this study is that entrepreneurial orientation mediates the relationship between religiosity on MSME’s performance.

Abstract

Firms with high leverage are more vulnerable, particularly during uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to examine the impact of leverage on firms’ financial distress by capturing two countries, Indonesia and Malaysia, which have different levels of leverage and financial development that affect access to external funding. The Altman Z-score—for a rich dataset comprising quarterly data of publicly traded companies between 2015 and 2020—is calculated to measure firms’ financial distress. Furthermore, the Difference-in-Differences (DiD) technique is employed to test the hypothesis that highly leveraged firms have a higher bankruptcy risk that leads to financial distress during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study finds that firms’ financial distress during the pandemic is higher than prior the pandemic. Indonesian firms’ financial distress was higher than Malaysian firms. Finally, highly leveraged firms are exposed to higher bankruptcy risk than firms with lower debt.

Abstract

Knowledge is an important resource that supports process management to produce efficient and effective products and services. The research objective is to examine the influence of process management on performance through the role of knowledge creation in the future of new normal. Survey method with saturated sample was used for data collection on 126 head of study programs at public and private universities in the city of Semarang. Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach was used to analyze the data. The results of the study found that process management has no direct effect on organizational performance and knowledge creation directly affects performance. Tests indirectly show that the knowledge creation shown to mediate the effect of process management on organizational performance. Implications of research for leaders as a consideration in the implementation of process management practices and knowledge creation in the new normal era of the organization. Suggestions for future research should use a longitudinal design, so that studies can be developed and explored more deeply and prepare other techniques or strategies as alternative solutions in data collection so that they are in accordance with the set targets

Abstract

The Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI) in 2021 revealed a significant increase in the number of capital market investors. This study aims to analyze the psychological and gender biases influencing capital market investors in making risky investment decisions, based on the theory of myopic loss aversion (MLA). The participants two groups: experienced and inexperienced investors. The experimental stage involved manipulating the groups with two types of treatment, frequent and infrequent, using a between-within-subject design with a 2 x 2 factorial structure. The results of the gender experiment showed that male and female participants in the experienced group exhibited similar levels of courage. However, in the inexperienced group, which mainly consisted of students, gender differences were observed. Men tended to be more daring and speculative in their decision-making, particularly during the pandemic. On the other hand, women tended to prioritize security in their investment choices. Additionally, the study found evidence of a “shock effect” experienced by participants during the experiment. This effect contributed to investors’ cautious decision-making, and it was also influenced by gender differences. The findings suggest Man in the inexperienced group displayed higher risk-taking tendencies compared to women, who were more focused on security when using their investment funds.

Abstract

Frontline workers are one of the jobs affected due to Covid-19. Covid-19 events can have negative and positive consequences for frontline workers. This study aims to see how fear of covid affects employee emotional exhaustion during a pandemic. Based on the conservation of resources theory, fear of covid-19 can cause frontline workers to experience emotional exhaustion. In addition, during a pandemic, employees can feel high job insecurity, resulting in low work engagement in the company where employees work. The method used in this research is quantitative. Data analysis was performed on 259 company employees who worked as frontline workers using the Structural Equation Modeling technique. The results of the analysis show that fear of covid-19 has a positive effect on job insecurity, and job insecurity has a significant positive effect on emotional exhaustion. In addition, perceived employability has a positive and significant effect on job insecurity and a significant positive effect on work engagement. It is essential for companies to pay attention so that employees do not have high job insecurity and high emotional exhaustion and can create employee work engagement by conducting various kinds of training and health education to increase engagement and reduce employee fear of Covid.

Abstract

The primary purpose of this study was to examine purchase intention and behavior of organic food based on the theory of planned behavior. People do not always use their intentions to behave even though intentions are powerful. The novelty of this study is to add two antecedent variables of attitude, namely knowledge about organic food and attention to health. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. This research was conducted through two studies. Study I was conducted to test the extent of TPB, and Study II tested buying behavior. The sample size is 187 respondents for Study I and 153 respondents for Study II. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for Study I and Logistic Regression for Study II. The study results show that the overall hypothesis proposed is supported and that intention has a substantial impact on buying behavior of organic food. Based on this research, producers or marketers can develop better marketing strategy models to increase consumer understanding of the benefits of organic food consumption.

Abstract

The amplifying importance of Instagram and its flourishing embracing proposes a massive prospect for firms to promote their products that deliver an endeavor to identify customers’ behaviors well. The research aims to recognize application attributes of perceived ease of use (PEOU), information quality, perceived usefulness, and system quality toward store loyalty from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) lens. Moreover, it elaborates on the theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to construct interaction intention and application engagement as mediator variables that apply the conceptual model among application attributes and store loyalty. This study uses a quantitative approach where questionnaires are distributed to 272 consumers who know or follow the Instagram of the Coffee Shop in Salatiga, Indonesia. The outcomes expose which interaction intention and application engagement are essential in the linkages among perceived usefulness, system quality, and information quality toward the store. Conversely, both mediator variables could not mediate the linkages between PEOU and store loyalty. Theoretically, there is a synergy amid theory TAM and TPB, revealing that perceived usefulness is most influential as antecedents affect store loyalty through interaction intention and application engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of destination image, visitor experience, and visitor engagement on visit intention through visitor satisfaction. The population in this study were visitors to the National Museum. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with 148 respondents. The data analysis method uses a structural equation model with the help of smartPLS software. The results of the study show that there is a significant effect of destination image on visitor satisfaction, visitor engagement on visitor satisfaction and visitor experience on visit intention. Meanwhile, the results also show that there is no effect of destination image on visit intention, visitor satisfaction on visit intention and visitor experience on visitor satisfaction. The addition of the customer engagement and customer satisfaction variables to the model is originality in this study in measuring the desire of visitors to return with moderation of customer satisfaction. The managerial implication of this research is that the management of the national museum should increase activities that can enhance the image of the museum among the public as a tourist destination which, in addition to providing education, also provides pleasure, especially for the younger generation to prefer museums.
