Abstract

This study examines the effects of the pyramid structure and disclosure of related party transactions on acts of expropriation in family companies with the independent commissioner’s control as a moderation. This research is a type of quantitative research. This research uses secondary data from annual reports from 31 family companies in 2017- 2018. The data analysis techniques in this research are descriptive statistics, panel data regression analysis, and moderated regression analysis. The study finds that the pyramid structure does not affect expropriation, while disclosure of related party transactions has a negative effect on expropriation. The interaction test shows that the mediator variable could not mediate the pyramid structure and expropriation. Conversely, the moderating variable is able to moderate the disclosure of related party transactions and expropriation. The results of this research can provide input to policymakers to tighten regulations regarding protection for minority shareholders. In addition, the results of this research will add to the government’s references in expanding rules related to the disclosure of related party transactions, especially regarding the supervision of related party transactions carried out by companies.

Abstract

This research aims to identify employee perceptions of employee readiness to implement the core values of BerAKHLAK, analyze the influence of leadership, organizational support, and commitment to the organization on employee readiness to change, and formulate policy recommendations to increase employee readiness to change. The survey samples chosen to be the subjects of this research were TNI, POLRI, and ASN, who had active work periods of more than one year. Data processing and analysis were performed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The research results show that the respondents in this study were dominated by employees aged 46-55 years. Based on the results of Structural Equation Modeling data processing, leadership variables and organizational support directly influence employee readiness to change. However, a commitment to the organization has little effect on employee readiness to change. Managerial implications can be implemented by the Secretariat General of the National Resilience Council by implementing the POLC (Planning, Organizing, Leading, Controlling) model. In addition, further research is likely to include other factors related to employee readiness to change.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a measurement tool for a new concept in aesthetic marketing called Aesthetic Value. The paper provides a framework for understanding individual motivations in consuming art galleries, starting with exploring art theory, aesthetics, and experience as a source of aesthetic value. The research then defines the construct and its dimensions, which are used to create a measurement tool and develop a conceptual model. Data collected from survey is used to evaluate the overall aesthetic value model. Finally, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) determines the number of components that should be retained in the construct. The study concludes that Aesthetic Value has four dimensions: artwork, facilities-place, knowledge, and emotion. This conceptualization provides a robust foundation for understanding customer value in the context of consuming art galleries by considering various relevant elements of Aesthetic Value. The article also discusses the potential use of this concept in the future, allowing researchers to accelerate further theoretical development in this area.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze three concepts, employee job satisfaction, dynamic capability, and turnover intention, without separating these three concepts by analyzing the effect of employee job satisfaction on dynamic capability and turnover intention as mediation. This research is correlative quantitative research with a cross-sectional approach for employees in Indonesia and uses SEM-PLS to analyze the data. The study results show that employee satisfaction has a negative and significant effect on turnover intention, and turnover intention has a negative and significant effect on dynamic capability; including the mediation variable in this study shows that turnover intention could mediate between employee satisfaction and dynamic capabilities. From the result, this research could be a starting point for developing flexible work program strategies and measures, as well as the implications in the changing business environment, especially in the digital era or situations that cause rapid changes quickly, like urgent situations or even uncertainty and contribute to further research discussing these three concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the gender diversity of boards of directors and its impact on firm risk-taking. It is interesting to study because the presence of women on the board of directors of a firm has garnered considerable attention in the last few years. The sample is drawn from the industrial sector listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange from 2017 to 2021. Firm risk-taking is measured by the volatility of stock returns. Using panel data, the results of the research indicate that gender diversity has a significantly positive impact on firm risk-taking. This finding contributes that a female board of directors would lead to greater risk-taking than their male counterparts. This research provides a literature on gender diversity and firm risk-taking in a male-dominated sector in Indonesia, providing insights for investors and companies to consider the potential benefits of gender diversity on board of directors in managing firm risk-taking. Further research could apply other measurements of firm risk-taking and observe other male-dominated sectors for comparison to enhance the study’s limitation.

Abstract

The research aims to find out the relationship between shopping gamification, focused attention, shopping enjoyment, and intention to buy mediated by shopping engagement in Generation Z in online food delivery apps. Indonesian consumer’s shopping habits on the internet have grown rapidly recently. The majority of Indonesian consumers prefer to use mobile apps on their smartphones. Customer experience added as a novelty to the research and Technology Acceptance Model is used as the main theory in this study. The method in this study uses a quantitative approach using purposive sampling technique that produces 195 samples. This study found that customer experience did not influence shopping engagement. Purchasing intentions are positively influenced by shopping engagement. This study is useful for online food delivery app managers so it can provide exclusive offers to users to increase shopping engagement. This research shows that a good customer experience may be able to increase customer engagement while shopping, however it does not necessarily have a positive impact on customer loyalty levels.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the influence of tax awareness on business performance and to examine the effect of tax knowledge as a mediating variable. The research adopted a survey with the distribution of questionnaires via G-Forms. The sample consisted of individual taxpayers who own sole proprietorships. The study demonstrated that high tax awareness and knowledge positively impacted taxpayers to fulfill their tax obligations, thereby enhancing business performance. The results of the mediation test confirmed that tax knowledge plays an effective mediating role. Tax awareness remained the main factor. Increasing tax awareness encourages taxpayers to seek broader knowledge about tax regulations and their interpretations, which affects the efficiency of the company’s cash flow. This drives companies to make innovative decisions by optimizing tax regulations and incentives. This study confirmed that tax awareness and tax knowledge contributed to improving taxpayers’ compliance. Nevertheless, integrating tax awareness with tax knowledge not only improves taxpayers’ compliance but also leads to improved business performance.

Abstract

This research aims to design a hybrid work model with a task-characteristic autonomy job design. Remote work or Work from Anywhere (WFA) is widely used, as the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated this method. For some people, the WFA method is enjoyable because it can provide freedom to organize work methods, allowing for high work autonomy. However, some people also feel that working remotely creates a feeling of isolation and boredom and reduces job satisfaction. The hybrid method will increase work autonomy, work-life balance, and job satisfaction. This research is aimed at employees in Jakarta and surrounding areas who can work hybrid. The research population is difficult to calculate, so the sampling method is purposive, and the sampling technique is convenience method. Hypothesis testing was done using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The research results prove that applying the hybrid method can significantly increase job satisfaction by fully mediating the task characteristic autonomy and the work-life balance variables. Therefore, applying the Hybrid method is an option because, in the next decade, the world of work will increasingly be dominated by Gen Y and Gen Z.
