Abstract

Glucose transporter4 (GLUT4) is the main glucose transporter in skeletal muscle. Impaired GLUT4 expression plays a role in the disorders of glycemic homeostasis such as Type- 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). Exercise can increase the GLUT4 expression in skeletal muscles so that glucose can get into the cells faster. The intensity of exercise is an important factor in reducing blood glucose levels in patients with T2DM. This study used stored biological material of gastrocnemius muscle from 15 T2DM models of Wistar rats. Rats were divided into three treatment groups namely P0 (no exercise, control), P1 (moderate-intensity continuous exercise), and P2 (vigorous-intensity continuous exercise), and treated for 8 weeks. Glut4 expression was determined by real time-PCR. The relative expression of the Glut4 gene was calculated using the Livak formula. Moderate-intensity exercise increased Glut4 expression by 2.39 times while vigorous-intensity exercise increased Glut4 expression 2.56 times compared to control. The vigorous-intensity continuous exercise expressed higher Glut4 expression than the moderate- intensity continuous one.

Abstract

Background: Neck muscle stiffness is the most common finding of neck pain. The effect of physical activity on neck muscle stiffness is still showing various results. Currently, working from home as the result of COVID-19 pandemic had changed the daily physical activity of each person, including medical students. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between physical activity intensity along with total modes of activity and frequency of neck muscle stiffness events. Methods: This is an observational study with cross-sectional study design. Simple randomized sampling was used in this study. Data collection utilized modified EPIC-PAQ2. Data calculated and converted to MET-hour/week and units to assess physical activity intensity and total modes. Results: Physical activity intensity and total modes of activities showed no statistically significant relationship with the frequency of neck muscle stiffness in preclinical medical students in Faculty of Medicine, University of Sumatera Utara. Sex parameter showed significant relationship. Male category showed odd ratio of 0.358 (OR = 0.358, 95% CI) for developing more frequent neck muscle stiffness. Conclusion: More accurate studies have to be conducted to adjust confounding factors on the incidence of neck muscle stiffness.

Abstract

The prevalence of hypertension increases with age, more than 1 in every two elderly has hypertension, dominated by women. The primary prevention of hypertension is a worldwide public health concern. Salat dhuha is a moderate-intensity physical activity. Salat 2 movement cycles demonstrated improved systolic and diastolic blood pressure in adults. Our study purpose was to assess the effect of 2 and 8 movement cycles (rakaat) of salat dhuha to improve systolic and diastolic blood pressure in healthy Muslim elderly women. Muslim elderly women in a government senior residence (aged 60-74 years) participated in a 6 weeks controlled trial. We completed formal physical, clinical, and blood assessments before admission. Participants with hypertension history were excluded. The participants were randomized into 2 groups. The intervention group performed 8 rakaat of salat dhuha (n=13) and the control group performed 2 rakaat of salat dhuha (n=13). Two participants were dropped out of this study. At baseline and at the end of 6 weeks, a blood pressure examination is recorded. Parametric and nonparametric methods were used to analyze the data. The baseline characteristics of the two groups of participants were homogeneous. Compared to the control, the 8 rakaat of salat dhuha achieved a significant reduction in systolic and diastolic blood pressure (P0.05) at the end of the 6-weeks period. The findings show that salat dhuha has significant potential to improve blood pressure.

Abstract

The purpose of this study to find out how the members of supplements on the fitness center in the city of Yogyakarta. Type a descriptive qualitative research study, the technique of the test through a questionnaire survey. Total sample of 30 people with accidental sampling technique. The results showed that: 1) the characteristics of the majority of member fitness aged 20-29 years (73.7%), is still active as a student (56.7%), and by 6.7% as a housewife. 2) respondents have a grasp on the definition of supplements (86.6%), which is derived from advertising, print media, electronic media (63.3%) in the form of amino, high milk protein and creatine (66.6%). 3) the majority of respondents use tablets (70%), obtained from the purchase (96.7%), consumed 1-3 times / day (always) of (83.3%) to increase the muscle mass of (59.9%). 4) the majority of respondents (73.3%) increased his stamina and health after taking the supplement. Conclusions: 1) should be someone over the age of 30 years and mother housewife improve motion activity, 2) the principles of exercise should be increased in line with the benefits of supplements for stamina and health.

Asam Laktat dan Aktivitas SOD Eritrosit pada Fase Pemulihan Setelah Latihan Submaksimal

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian untuk membandingkan kadar asam laktat dan aktivitas SOD eritrosit pada fase setelah latihan submaksimal. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa rerata asam laktat awal 2,282 ± 0,555 mMol/L, asam laktat 5 menit setelah latihan 7,936  ± 1,125 mMol/L, asam laktat 60 menit setelah latihan 3,109± 0,501 mMol/L, aktivitas SOD eritrosit awal 70,727 % ± 11,889, aktivitas SOD eritrosit 5 menit setelah latihan 4,364 % ± 2,501, aktivitas SOD eritrosit 60 menit setelah latihan 10,000 % ± 2,828. Persentase kadar asam laktat darah 60 menit setelah latihan 85,099 % ± 11,515, persentase aktivitas SOD eritrosit 60 menit setelah latihan 8,177 % ± 5,132. Uji normalitas menunjukkan nilai p 0,05. Uji ANOVA sama subyek menunjukkan  asam laktat sebelum dengan 5 menit setelah latihan nilai p sebesar 0,000 (p 0,05) dan aktivitas SOD eritrosit sebelum latihan dengan 5 menit  setelah latihan nilai p sebesar 0,000 (p 0,05). Asam laktat 5 menit dengan 60 menit setelah latihan nilai p sebesar 0,000 (p 0,05), aktivitas SOD eritrosit 5 menit dengan 60 menit setelah latihan memiliki nilai p sebesar 0,001 (p 0,05). Kesimpulan persentase aktivitas SOD eritrosit lebih kecil dari pada persentase kadar asam laktat darah 60 menit setelah latihan olahraga submaksimal.Kata Kunci: kadar asam laktat darah; aktivitas SOD eritrosit; latihan submaksimalAbstrast The aims of study is to compare the levels of lactic acid and erythrocyte SOD activity in the phase after exercise submaximal. ANOVA of the same subjects obtained by lactic acid levels before the 5 minutes after the workout has a p value of 0.000 (p 0.05) and erythrocyte SOD activity before exercise by 5 minutes after the workout has a p value of 0.000 (p 0.05). Lactic acid levels in 5 minutes with 60 minutes of exercise a p value of 0.000 (p 0.05) and erythrocyte SOD activity 5 minutes to 60 minutes after exercise has a p value of 0.001 (p0.05). With the test of independent sample T test on the percentage decrease in blood lactic acid levels in erythrocyte SOD activity 60 minutes after exercise obtained p value of 0.000 (p 0.05).  Conclusion that the percentage of erythrocyte SOD activity is less than the percentage of blood lactic acid levels 60 minutes after exercise submaximal.Keywords: lactic acid; erythrocyte SOD activity; exercise submaximal.

Abstract

Pembangunan merupakan suatu upaya yang bertujuan untuk mencapai kondisi yang lebih baik. Dalam bidang keolahragaan, pembangunan tidak hanya berdasarkan perolehan medali di pertandingan multievent, melainkan kontribusi masyarakat dalam berolahraga dan juga tingkat kebugaran jasmani yang merupakan bagian dari Sport Development Index (SDI). Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui tingkat partisipasi dan kebugaran jasmani masyarakat Kabupaten Wonogiri. Penelitian ini adalah studi evalusi tentang pembangunan olahraga dengan menggunakan metode campuran antara kuantitatif dan kualitatif dalam konteks evaluasi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, kuesioner, Multistage Fitness Test (MFT), dan dokumen. Subyek penelitian terdiri dari usia anak – anak (7-12 tahun) 30 orang, usia remaja (13-17 tahun) 30 orang dan usia dewasa (18-40 tahun) 30 orang yang masing – masing kelompok usia terdiri dari 15 orang laki – laki dan 15 orang perempuan. Subyek mengisi kuesioner partisipasi masyarakat terhadap olahraga sebelum melakukan Multistage Fitness Test (MFT) untuk mengukur tingkat kebugaran jasmani. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan indeks partisipasi masyarakat sebesar 0, 237 dan indeks kebugaran jasmani sebesar 0,315. Jika ditinjau dari norma Sport Development Index (SDI) berada pada rentang 0,000 – 0,499 yang berarti partisipasi masyarakat dan tingkat kebugaran jasmani masyarakat Kabupaten Wonogiri berada pada kategori rendah. Development is an effort purposed at achieving better conditions. In the sector of sports, development not only based on the medals procuration in the competition multievent, but public paticipation in exercise and also the level of physical fitness is part of the Sport Development Index (SDI). The purpose of this study to determine the level of public participation and the level of physical fitness society of Wonogiri. This study is evaluation sport development by using a mixture of quantitative and qualitative evaluation context. Data collection technique used observation, questionnaires, Multistage Fitness Test (MFT), and documents. The subject of this study are consisted of the child (7-12 years) 30 people, adolescence (13-17 years) 30 people and adults (18-40 years) 30 people. each age group consisted of 15 men and 15 women. The subjects filled out questionnaires public participation in the sport before Multistage Fitness Test (MFT) to measure the level of physical fitness. Based on the result of study, it can be concluded that the public participation index of 0, 237 and physical fitness index of 0.315. If the terms of the norm Sport Development Index (SDI) is in the range from 0.000 to 0.499, which means public participation and level of physical fitness society of Wonogiri Regency that are in the low category.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of differences between training methods and the wall shooting blindfolded free throw shooting to result in a basketball game. The population in this study is a Member of the Student Activity Unit (UKM) basketball Unnes son who totaled 12 students, the sample in this study to include the entire population being sampled with a total sampling technique.The results showed: 1) The difference between the effect of training methods shooting wall with eyes closed against the method results in a free throw shooting basketball game with the results of F count F table or 20.167 5.318, with a mean value of wall shooting 6.67 4.83 for eyes closed method. he conclusion of the study is 1) There is a difference between the effect of free throw shooting training method using wall shooting and eyes closed against the results of free throw shooting, the shooting method yields better wall instead of the closed eyes in free throw shooting at the basketball game.

Abstract

Soccer is the most well known and a phenomenal sport in the world, with around 270 million players registered to this game (FIFA, 2015). Soccer has already attracted attention either sport scientist and government from many countries to promote the benefit of active physical activity and also maintained people’s health, including the minorities and poorest. (Hammami et al, 2016; Milanovic et al., 2015; Parnell et al., 2016). Furthermore, this sport can be used to support the health public program in order to prevent chronic diseases due to cause lack of physical activity (Krustrup et al., 2010).Quality food choices and adequate nutrition nutrient are important for supporting training program and enhancing the physical performance of professional athletes. Macronutrients provide the metabolic substrates necessary for producing the chemical energy required for skeletal muscle contraction and cardiovascular physiology, while the micronutrients help the metabolic reactions involved in energy production and gas transport in the circulation. Soccer is a sport requiring for both aerobic dominant and also anaerobic energy. It needs the players to exercise repetitively at high intensities using large muscle groups for periods of several seconds to several minutes for the full match (90 min) plus added time. Metabolically, athletes depend to a certain extent on their endogenous glycogen stores in the liver and skeletal muscles. Besides from genetic factor, talent and the effort of training, it has been acknowledged that no single factor plays a bigger role in maximaxing physical performance than dietary plan.This Review article was made to show the important role of carbohydrate and dietary fiber in the aspect of soccer game, resumed from scientific articles especially from Europe/USA where soccer was more advanced there. The writer hoped that this article written and published at Indonesia can be used to developed sport science and sport medicine for his beloved country.

Abstract

Melatih teknik bertarung (kumite) dengan cara berhadapan one bye one ditingkat anak usia dini tidaklah mudah secara psikologi anak, sehingga dibutuhkan metode khusus dalam melatih teknik kumite. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model latihan Crazy Ball Game dalam upaya meningkatkan minat dan motivasi anak berlatih kumite di lingkungan Pengkab FORKI Buleleng. Metode penelitian ini eksperimen dengan desain penelitian one group pretest-posttest design. Subjek penelitian adalah anak kategori usia dini (7 s/d 9 tahun) yang terdaftar di aliran/perguruan di bawah naungan FORKI Buleleng sebanyak 50 orang. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dan penelitian yang sesuai dengan penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Model Latihan Crazy Ball Game sangat berpengaruh terhadap minat dan motivasi anak-anak berlatih kumite. Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis kedua dalam penelitian (F = 4.614, p = 0,05). Jika ditetapkan taraf signifikansi p = 0,05 maka nilai signifikansi uji hipotesis kedua jauh lebih kecil daripada p, sehingga F signifikan. Maka hipotesis kedua diterima yang artinya terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan terhadap sikap sosial antara siswa yang mengikuti Model Latihan Crazy Ball Game dengan siswa yang mengikuti Latihan konvensional.Practicing fighting techniques (kumite) by dealing with one bye one at the level of early childhood is not easy psychologically for children, so special methods are needed in training the kumite technique. This study to determine the effect of Crazy Ball Game training models in an effort to increase the interest and motivation of children practicing kumite in the FORKI Buleleng regency. The research methods is an experimental research design with one group pretest-posttest design. The subject were fifty childrens of the early age category (7 to 9 years) who were registered in the school of Karate under the auspices of FORKI Buleleng. The result showed that Crazy Ball Game Exercise Model significantly to increase the interests and motivation of children to practice Kumite (F = 4.614, p = 0.05). If the significant level is set p = 005, the significance value of the second hypothesis test is much smaller than p, so F is significant. The the second hypothesis is accepted, which means that there are significant differences in social attitudes between students who take the Crazy Ball Game Exercise Model and students who take conventional exercises.
