Abstract

Pada tahun 1998 ia mengeluarkan buku berjudul The Desecularization of the World: A Global Overview (1999) yang dimaksudkan untuk merevisi teori dia sebelumnya bahwa seiring modernisasi agama akan semakin kehilangan relevansi. Keyakinan terhadap Tuhan akan digeser olah rasio yang dapat menjelaskan banyak hal yang selama ini dipahami melalui narasi keagamaan.

In addition, the process offormation of Acehnese identity is also one of the research questions of this paper, in which this practicehas marked the end of a local revival is being formulated in Aceh. Therefore, the questions about theprocess of dialogue and negotiation as what is growth in Aceh recently, will be discussed in this research. This research shows that the reactualization of public spaces that has been sunk by the conflict or thetsunami, now it is resurrected to turn the social bases that have been lost and even blurred. Whail, local wisdom and its discourse had reached the implementation of the policy through a qonun as aform of maintenance an intellectual heritage of Aceh to be kept alive and implemented. Communalconsciousness constructed by the fact that many of these actors have been integrated through variousforms of dialogue and long negotiation. So don’t be surprised if the recent in-meunasah, gampong orvillage activities turn on the mosque as a center of Islamic studies, and even coffee shops also determinethe direction of Acehnese identity is being created, especially as the idea of Aceh revival.

Abstract

Bedhaya at Palace dance was originally a sacred dance that is laden with symbols of life because it’snot just a dance movement, but an action that is displayed and that becomes the life reference. Bedhayais presented as a mirror of Javanese culture axiological which includes ethical and aesthetic values . Itis a reflection of manunggaling kawula-Gusti in terms of its ethical dimension and it has the aestheticvalues of the motion, fashion, and makeup. Bedhaya dance philosophy is summaried in the doctrineof ngelmu sangkan paran covering three things: the first it’s related to the human consciousness thatcomes from God (urip iki saka sapa); the second, it is irelated to the duties and obligations of humanbeings in the world (urip iki arep apa); and the third, it is related to man’s return to his Lord (urip ikipungkasane piye). Therefore, in the moral ethics context, Javanese life purpose is how to be a good manto reach the manunggaling kawula with Gusti as it is believed that goodness and beauty (mind) are themanifestation of the Essence of the Most Holy. The journey of human life portrayed in lampah bedhayaof majeng beksa , beksa to mundur beksa is a role model to determine the choice between good and bad .

Abstract

This paper aims to explain that the social dynamics in Papua does not always present the story ofconflict and disintegration, but also about the social integration, harmony, and peace as can be observedin the Fakfak community in West Papua Province. By using the methods of descriptive analysis of thequalitative data collected from field observations, interviews and documentation studies, the authorsmanaged to formulate several important findings. First, the results of acculturation between religiousvalues and culture are important elements that make the social norms of harmonious and tolerant inFakfak, as described in the local knowledge of “the three furnaces stone”. Second, the institutionalizationof values and social integration processes in the community can work well, if the support of local forcesand civil society groups work together to promote peace. At the same time, this paper also reminds thatthe conflict issues, such as religious radicalism and separatism, if not handled carefully can potentiallydamage the social integration that has been well maintained.

Abstract

Distro (distribution outlet/distribution store), with its DIY (Do-It-Yourself) and independent ethos, hasever been so popular in Yogyakarta as youth’s field to express their self. Decade passed, youth changed, distro still exists, but now it is merely the “alternative” of the big (ie. mall). Descriptive qualitative researchbased on field ethnography within May and June 2013, I would discuss the strategy of Demangan distroarea (Jl. Cendrawasih, Yogyakarta), in forming their nowadays identity in order to remain exist. Thediscussion shows that there are some of their stratregies: by converging in one area and structuringdistro region, by interior design, and by not-that-indie (at all) identity. The lower number of distro andits attempt of forming its DIY-ethos-ed youth indicate that the youth are now, to a certain extent, notinterested in producing and distributing. Hence, most of them are no more than the object of capitalism, which is by consuming.

Abstract

Housing decentralization not only positions housing sector as regional obligatory, but also triggerspublic expectations upon the improvement of housing conditions. Various weaknesses of centralizedsystem that full of generalization in housing policy makes decentralized system is interpreted as aninnovative renewal process. However, the central government still does a lot of intervention towardhousing program. Limitation happens to local government such as limitation in housing finance, weakness in coordination ability, and less established of local bureaucracy makes intervention fromcentral government in housing program financed by APBN always dominates. The least contributionfrom local government on public housing sector in decentralization era creates paradox. It is caused bythe Ministry of Public Housing (Kemenpera) that cannot perform fully as substitutional institution rolein managing housing in local area. Kemenpera position as ministerial cluster 3 makes them does nothave representative office in local area. Thus, there will be potential of a repeat experience in the past, inform of generalization in housing policy, that complicates the housing problems itself.

Abstract

The role of women artists in the performing arts, also within the arts as well as the other broader life, inIndonesia, seems to be strengthening in recent years. It doesn’t mean that it is a new issue, of course. Butperhaps it happened since Indonesia experiencing and witnessing a great change of mainstream withinit self since 1998; this issue, as well as the other critical issues gaining a more free momentum and spaceof expression. Of course, this still needs further scrutinization. The superiority of women is not limitedto the mith in which giving special space for them, but indeed women have strong key role as the escortof performing arts. Women have the central key in promoting traditional arts; however, there is womenrole shift in the stage of performing arts. Women artists in the culture posseses inevitable duality ofposition. They are praised as high as the sky, in the other hand they are also insulted, abused, and usedas a profit-making commodity. Besides their beautiful manner and behaviour, women are also capableof breaking through the boundary of culture. Women as the mother earth who’s also identical withthe symbol of fertility, paragon, and the parameter of values and norms that is expected by the socialcommunity, are also capable of fulfilling the promises attached into the miths that praise and adorethem. Therefore, it is their nature that they have the central role in the success of a performing art bothtraditional and modern. Serious problems in the world of performing arts occur when women artists tryto promote tradition. Inner conflict uccur between their basic nature and their environemntal condition. In this case, pressures are not only coming from the social environment but also from within. In fact, the soul of tradition survives and sustain from their very hands. When the stage experiences shift, therole of women as the escort of the tradition is also fading. Performance industry does properly placestage women as a subject but only as a commodity to attarct the market for the capitalists. Together, weshould be able to solve this problem if we still want women to attend in the world of performing artsand change the world into a more colorful one.
