Abstract

In recent years, students prefer to use mobile devices more frequently than desktop, when accessing information. Klasiber is a name of e-learning used in Islamic University of Indonesia (UII). So far, to access Klasiber, students on UII prefer to use desktop. Indeed, information architecture of Klasiber is designed only to accomodate desktop users. Questions of the research that appears from these problems are: How Klasiber be transformed so it can be accessed optimally using mobile devices. Second question is: How Klasiber adopts the responsive web design (RWD) to accommodate the variety of devices. In this paper, we developed prototypes of the new Klasiber based on RWD. Prototypes are developed as comparison with the previous Klasiber. Effectiveness of prototypes being developed is tested by using usability testing. The usability testing is designed based on Norman's emotional framework.

Abstract

Trains are a means of transportation of interest to the public in Indonesia. In addition to fast, the cost and convenience of service on the train became one of the reasons for the selection of this transportation. Accidents at railway crossings are common in Indonesia. One reason is the absence of a doorstop in the railway crossing. In this research, we try to develop the closing and opening tool of train railway crossing automatically. This device is equipped with vibration sensor and infrared sensor to detect train arrival. The sensor readout signal will be processed by arduino UNO and sent to the control center using wireless nRF24l01 + PA + LNA module. The signal will be received by the control module using the same receiver module and will be processed by arduino mega 2560 to open and close the railway crossing door equipped with LED indicator. Based on the test results, the nRF24l01 + PA + LNA transceiver module can work at a distance of 940 meters with an average data transmission delay of 1.2952 seconds.

Abstract

Customer satisfaction is the most important aspect in order to improve services of Jombor bus station in Sleman-Yogyakarta. The research aims to find out service performance provided in the Jombor bus station, and to give an overview of vicinity condition which can be used to improve services quality for the customer. Methods used in this research are: Service performance (Servperf), Importance Performance Analysis (IPA), and Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI). Servperf method with five measuring attribute such as tangibles, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, reability is used to determine the rate of service performance. Furthermore, there are 17 questions provided in order to collect the data. Based on Importance Performance Analysis, there are four service attributes having high level of interest, and low service performance. They are: fineness, cleanliness, and mildness of passenger waiting room, and praying room, also the bus condition, and the safety of bus station zone. The result shows that consumers feel less satisfied with services provided by Jombor bus station management. It because based on the calculation of customer satisfaction index, value 71% is classified as poor condition. Several advices have been given in order to improve the consumer satisfaction such as, inspection of bus condition, renovation of passenger waiting room, rest room, and praying room including the availability of electric equipment such as: speaker, microphone, CCTV, and announcement board. Moreover, in order to reduce the air pollution, the Jombor bus station is suggested to grow some plants in its environment.

Abstract

PT ISM Divisi Bogasari Flour Mills adalah perusahaan industri makanan yang memproduksi beragam tepung terigu. Sistem produksi perusahaan saat ini belum dapat berjalan secara efektif karena produk defect yang dihasilkan masih tinggi. Capability process adalah salah satu alat dalam statistical process control yang digunakan untuk menyelidiki apakah proses produksi dalam kendali dan terpusat, dan untuk memeriksa apakah keadaan proses mampu memenuhi batas spesifikasi perusahaan. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode pengambilan sampel dari 3 kecepatan berbeda pada mesin BS208 dan 125 produk bersih diambil dari setiap kecepatan dengan dua ukuran variasi produk, 1000 gram dan 500 gram. Perangkat lunak Minitab 18 digunakan untuk menganalisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai yang lebih besar ditemukan dalam ukuran 500 gram, baik pada Cp dan Cpk atau persentase produk cacat. Sedangkan, ukuran 1000 gram menunjukkan hasil yang lebih buruk dari kedua aspek, oleh karena itu tidak dianjurkan untuk diterapkan. Penyebab masalah utama dalam penelitian ini dan solusi alternatif direkomendasikan untuk mencapai perbaikan proses yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

The selection of the best assistants is an important aspect of performance management as it produces useful information for assistant administration decisions. Assistant administrative decisions is the selection of practicum managers, the determination of the amount of salary, and other decisions. The selection of the best assistants is not only for assistant administration decisions, but also useful as self-introspection and motivating to improve assistant performance. This research aims to apply decision support system with Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) and Weighted Product (WP) method to a system that can perform task in choosing the best assistant. TOPSIS method is used for sub-criteria calculation and WP method for criteria calculation. Testing is done with Netbeans software and Java programming language. The criteria that become the best assistant assessment are discipline, attendance, and Assistant Performance Values (NKA). Each criteria has sub-criteria, that is for Discipline has a sub-criteria are tardiness and cash payment, for attendance has sub-criteria debriefing, meeting, and teaching, and for NKA has sub-criteria mastery of material, responses questions, ability to motivate, ability to manage time, and spirit assistant. Alternatives are selected from the laboratory assistants in the Integrated Laboratory of Informatics, are Yaya, Za, Syilvia, Kahfi, Oddy, and Ridwan. Testing is done by entering data assistant as much as six people. The system performs have  faster calculation process than the manual calculation by producing the best assistant recommendation, namely Yaya with a value of 0.19734.

Abstract

Fusel oil is a side product of ethanol manufacturing process through the fermentation of molasses. Sometimes, fusel oil is accidently mixed with liquid waste from the bottom of alcohol rectifying column. This mixture is called lutter washer. Fusel oil contains isoamyl alcohol, n-amyl alcohol, and other alcohols. Isoamyl alcohol is the raw material of organic ester. Further processing is required to increase the economic value of fusel oil, such as the separation of components by distillation. In this study, the composition of isoamyl alcohol and n-amyl alcohol in the residue in the distillation process as a function of distillation time in a packing column was evaluated. An artificial waste lutter washer was used as a raw materials in this experiment. The processes were conducted using a distillation column with a cylindrical dan spherical glass packing materials. Lutter washer was distilled with total reflux until the equilibrium temperature was reached, then the data of the experiment was taken during 180 minutes at the condition of reflux at 5/5 (5 minutes distillate was returned to the tower and 5 minutes distillate was collected). The composition of the distillation residue were evaluated at interval time of 30 minutes. The same processes were evaluated using different heights of packing materials. The data show that the highest composition of isoamyl alcohol and n-amyl alcohol are 21.99% and 3.70% of the 15 mL total residue, respectively. It is obtained in the distillation process that used the packing materials with ball shape, the column with 85 cm of height and 3.5 cm of diameter.

Abstract

This research investigates  stressed sheeting welded (SSW) effects of stiffened thin plate structure with preheat temperature  variations. Stiffened thin plate structure is a structure that  consists of frame and sheet that used on  vehicle structure because of requirement low volume materials. The principle of  SSW is installation of sheeting on the frame is done by pulling the sheeting in hot conditions so the sheeting after joined with the frame has the flat surface. Lap joints of  SS 400 with thickness of  1 mm dan 3 mm were made using Gas Metal Arc Welding. The preheat temperature that used were 50°C, 60°C and 70°C. The mechanical properties were measured with respect to strength and hardness while physical properties were examined based on the distortion, micro and macrostructure. Results show that the distortion of weld metal with preheat temperatures 50°C, 60°C and 70°C are 1.02; 2.06; and 2.22 mm respectively. This values is better than weld metal without  SSW that has distortion 3.02 mm. The tensile  strength of weld metals with SSW method  is 20% higher than the weld metal  without SSW. Ferrite and pearlite structure appeared in based metal and HAZ region while weld metal had acicular ferrite and grain boundary ferrite structure.

Abstract

PT. Primissima is a company engaged in textile Bisang, producing gray cloth that was established in 1971. The purpose of this study to determine the level of productivity with the approach of the American method Productivity Center (APC) and the Cobb-Douglas particular weaving section. Next calculate the productivity index forecast to come on the method selected is the highest. The data collected in this study consisted of data from production (output), labor, material, energy, and capital. Methods American Productivity Center (APC) was used to calculate the index of productivity, profitability index and the index of price improvement. While the Cobb-Douglas method used to calculate the coefficient of the intercept and Return to Scale. From the research conducted, the total productivity index using American Productivity Center (APC) has decreased, with a productivity index of 96.00 partially in 2009 and 2011. The profitability of the total input decreased by an average of 47.98 in partial quarterly. Total input price index improvement on average decreased partially 0.50 per quarter. The results using the method Cobb-Douglas found that inputs affect the production process is the efficiency index for 2009 was 58,997,167.96, while the year 2010 was 8.499, and in 2011 was 36,179,393.57. The use of the elasticity of input for the year 2009 amounted to -0.549 labor, material amounted to 0,062, a total energy of 0.613, and a capital of 0.093. The use of the elasticity of input for the year 2010 amounting to -0.032 use of labor, material amounted to 0.595, an energy of 0.114, and a capital of 0.267. The use of the elasticity of input for the year 2011 amounting to -0.781 use of labor, material amounted to 0.602, an energy of 0.063 and capital.of 0.298.

Abstract

The utilization of renewable energy at a low wind speed area (namely 2 m /s until 8 m / s) like Indonesia is still rarely performed due to it is low efficiency. This research is intended to know the performance of horizontal axis wind turbine propeller type 5-bladed, using airfoil AH79-100C type with 1,1 m it is diameter. It is expected which the parameters and characteristics of the blade can be used as reference to create a small-scale wind turbine. The results showed that the value of the power coefficient (Cp) is best obtained at a speed of 6 m / s with a value of 44,26%, while for the smallest power coefficient values obtained at wind speed of 17 m / s amounted to 16,76%. This wind turbine are most suitable for use at wind speeds ranging from 6 m / s to 12 m / s.

Abstract

Preparations and modifications of Ni-Mo/natural zeolite and Mo-Ni/natural zeolite catalysts as well as their characterizations had been carried out. The preparations of catalysts were carried out by reacting a natural zeolite produced in Wonosari with the precursor of Ni(NO3)2.9H2O and Mo(NH4)7.6H2O. The modifications were performed by varying the rasio of Ni/Mo whereas the Mo was previously loaded to the zeolite or Mo/Ni ratio whereas the Ni was previously loaded and the total metal content was 1 wt.% based on the zeolite. The aim of this research for the fututure is to prepare catalysts with high acidity and crystallinity for the conversion of waste plastics fraction to gasoline fraction (C5-C12 hydrocarbons).    The characterization of catalysts included determination of metal content using Atomic Adsorption Analysis (AAS), acidity by adsorption of ammonia or pyridine vapour  base method, and crystallinity by X-ray Diffraction (XRD). The treatment of catalysts using Etilene Diamine Tetra Acetic acid  (EDTA) was performed to study the metal distribution on the outer or inner surface of the zeolite.    The characterization results showed that the loading of Ni and Mo to the zeolite produced higher acidity catalysts than those of monometal loaded catalysts. The increase of Ni loaded caused the decrease of catalysts acidity, on the other hand, the increase of Mo loaded caused the increase of catalysts acidity. The metals loaded on the zeolite were distributed inside the pore and at outer surface of the zeolite. For all catalyst samples, the acidities determined using ammonia were higher than those of pyridine, and the acidities determined before the EDTA treatment was lower than those after the treatment.  The metals loading on the zeolite did not defect its crystallnity. Metal contents of the zeolite before the EDTA treatment were higher than those after the treatment. The relationship between the metal ratios towards the catalyst acidity was varying. The EDTA treatment to the zeolite sample enhanced the crystallinity of the sampel. Catalyst samples produced in this research have high acidities and crystallinities, thus promisingly can be used for conversion process of waste plastics to gasoline fraction.  Keywords : natural zeolite, acidity, Ni-Mo/natural zeolite, Mo-Ni/natural zeolite, crystallinity, EDTA
