Abstract

This study explores the phenomenon of interfaith marriage in Cisantana Village, Kuningan. Regency, from the perspective of social relations and religious law. The research was motivated by increasing cases of interfaith marriage in a multicultural community that upholds strong religious values, often creating tension between belief and social harmony. Using a qualitative–participatory community engagement method with a legal sociology approach, data were collected through interviews, observation, and field documentation. The purpose is to analyze how interfaith marriage affects social interaction and how religious and state laws respond to it. Despite social and legal pressures, the results show that love is the primary motivation behind interfaith marriage. The Cisantana community demonstrates tolerance and adaptability, allowing interfaith families to coexist peacefully. This reflects that religious diversity, supported by inclusive social values, can foster harmony and strengthen social cohesion.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted at Samakisast Wittaya School, Sadao, Thailand, to address the lack of students’ interpersonal readiness for higher education and employment. The activity aimed to strengthen soft skills such as professional demeanor, communication, teamwork, and courteous speech. Using participatory action research integrated with community-based research, service-learning, and asset-based community development, the one-day program engaged sixty students through tutorials and rotating practice stations focusing on appearance, posture, handshake protocol, and polite expressions. The results showed high participation, improved understanding of the importance of soft skills, and observable behavioral enhancement during coached demonstrations. Tangible outputs included behavioral rubrics and photo documentation for continued use. The program concludes that a participatory, low-cost, and asset-based model effectively embeds soft-skills training into school routines and can serve as a foundation for sustained teacher-led reinforcement and future quantitative evaluation.

Abstract

The issue of religious moderation is a government programme aimed at countering narratives, attitudes, and actions of intolerance. However, this programme is not widely disseminated in communities such as Islamic boarding schools. Activities carried out at the Jekulo Kudus Islamic Boarding School aim to empower students to promote religious moderation and tolerance. The aim is to reveal the lack of study of the works of Indonesian scholars in various Islamic boarding schools, while the works of Middle Eastern scholars still dominate. The method used is PAR, which directly involves students in studying the book Risalah Tawhid by Mbah Hasyim Asy'ari and the book Faidhul Rahman by Mbah Shaleh Darat. The findings indicate that students remain unfamiliar with Indonesian scholars, possess minimal knowledge about the moderate teachings of Nusantara scholars, and have a partial understanding of the teachings of religious moderation, both from the ministry and from religious perspectives. This article contributes to illustrating that santri need to be introduced to and taught the works of Nusantara scholars.
