Abstract

One well-known performance assessment approach is the balanced scorecard (BSC), which evaluates financial and non-financial performance aspects. Although BSC has been widely used in the private sector, its implementation in the public sector presents unique challenges. The research examined the implementation of BSC at Perum Perhutani, an Indonesian state-owned company that manages forest resources. The research focused on the implementation of BSC in the Human Resources (HR) division. Even though BSC has succeeded in improving overall performance assessment, there are still obstacles to employees' understanding of the BSC concept, which causes employees to be confused when interpreting performance indicators. Apart from that, performance assessments are still affected by subjective assessments and a lack of specific and clear indicators. The research proposes the integration of Objectives and Key Results (OKR) to increase the clarity and alignment of performance indicators. By employing NVivo 12 for analysis, the research contributes to the literature regarding BSC implementation in developing countries, especially in the public sector, offering new insights to improve performance management practices in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aimed to explore the role of digital leadership in promoting innovative work behaviors through the mediation of intrinsic motivation and problem-solving creativity and to analyze differences in influence based on gender. A total of 117 lecturers and education staff at private universities were analyzed through AMOS SEM to test the direct, indirect, and moderation influences of gender. The results show that digital leadership does not have a direct effect on innovative work behavior through intrinsic motivation and problem-solving creativity. Digital leadership has a positive effect on intrinsic motivation, thereby strengthening internal motivation for optimal contribution. Gender analysis reveals that digital leadership has a significant impact on intrinsic motivation and problem-solving creativity, with a stronger effect on women, particularly in increasing their intrinsic motivation. However, the relationship between problem-solving creativity and innovative work behavior remained insignificant. The implications emphasize the importance of strengthening strategic digital leadership to enhance intrinsic motivation and creativity, considering gender-based responses to drive innovative work behaviors.

Abstract

Energy efficiency remains a significant challenge for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia, contributing to high operational costs and limiting competitiveness. This research explored the key factors influencing SMEs' access to Islamic financing for energy efficiency. The study employs the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), drawing on responses from 10 experts, including industry practitioners, academics, and regulators. Data were collected through focus group discussions, followed by additional interviews to validate and enrich the analysis. The findings indicate that financial health is the top priority criterion, followed by compliance with Islamic finance principles and management capabilities. The results highlight the importance of Islamic financial literacy and managerial skills in improving SMEs’ access to funding. Additionally, developing partnerships with Islamic financial institutions and implementing energy-efficient technologies are crucial strategies for enhancing financial sustainability. This research provides valuable insights for policymakers. Structured financial literacy programs and advisory centers should be introduced to help businesses navigate Islamic financing options. Policies should also promote the development of SME-friendly Islamic financial products to reduce risk perceptions. Furthermore, tax incentives, Green Sukuk, and low-cost refinancing options should be introduced to encourage energy-efficient investments. Clear regulatory guidelines and the integration of Shariah-compliant fintech solutions will help ensure compliance with these regulations. Ultimately, these efforts will contribute to reducing energy poverty and enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research examined how factors such as Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), imitation of products, and price value influence consumers' impulsive buying and purchase intentions regarding imitation products online. A quantitative descriptive method was applied with data collected through surveys by distributing questionnaires. The sample was selected using a non-probability sampling technique with criteria: 1) residing in Indonesia, 2) aged 17 years or older, 3) having previously purchased imitation products online, and 4) willing to complete the entire questionnaire. A total of 207 respondents were analyzed. Data were processed using Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings suggest that FOMO and imitation products significantly impact online impulsive buying. Additionally, price value and online impulsive buying influence purchase intentions. There is also an indirect effect of FOMO and imitation products on purchase intentions through online impulsive buying. The research fills a gap in prior research that has rarely examined these variables' direct and indirect effects on online impulsive buying and purchase intention for imitation products. Theoretically, this research contributes to digital consumer behavior studies in the post-COVID-19 era, providing companies with a better understanding of factors influencing purchase intentions for imitation products.

Abstract

This research presented a multifaceted conceptualization of digital organizational culture (DOC) to address challenges from a divergent understanding of critical concept among strategic decision-makers. In this context, the existing definition of DOC remained fragmented and insufficient, despite numerous analyses emphasizing the significance of DOC in digital transformation. A new theoretical concept of DOC was developed using grounded theory, considering the evidence from an extensive literature review and synthesis. Data were collected from 345 founders or C-level executives of Indonesian manufacturing organizations with at least 100 employees. The coding analysis results show DOC as a higher order construct with four dimensions namely sensitive, competitive, united, and dynamic. The construct was used as the foundation in developing the conceptual definition of DOC. DOC scale was then developed to transform the DOC into a more practical variable. The results show that the formulation of a thorough conceptual definition of DOC introduced and validated a measurement scale for assessing the concept. While testing the nomological validity of the scale, this study also proves the relation among DOC and change leadership, and project effectiveness. Practitioners may benefit from the results, offering constructive awareness by clarifying the nature of DOC and opening new opportunities for further investigation and application.

Abstract

This research aimed to thoroughly examine the influence of digital competencies on the relationship between entrepreneurial education, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, and entrepreneurial intention among Generation Z (Gen Z) university students in Indonesia. Considering that digital technologies increasingly shape entrepreneurial landscapes, understanding the extent to how digital competencies contribute to entrepreneurial development is very important, specifically among youth who are often described as digital natives. To achieve the stated objective, a quantitative survey design was adopted, involving 190 undergraduate students who had completed entrepreneurship education programs across several Indonesian universities. Accordingly, data collection was conducted from February to April 2025 using online questionnaires. The obtained responses were subsequently analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine the direct, mediating, and moderating relationships among the variables. The results show that entrepreneurial education significantly enhanced entrepreneurial intention both directly and indirectly through entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Within this context, self-efficacy played a mediating role by translating the impact of education into intention, thereby emphasizing the importance of confidence-building as a mechanism for fostering entrepreneurial motivation. However, digital competencies do not significantly moderate the relationship between education and intention, nor between self-efficacy and intention. This suggests that while Gen Z students may be digitally fluent in everyday contexts, digital competencies alone are not sufficient to amplify entrepreneurial outcomes. The observations made invariably implied that although confidence and practical, hands-on entrepreneurial education are essential for fostering entrepreneurial intention in Gen Z, general digital literacy alone may not suffice.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the shift toward online shopping, especially for cosmetic products. However, a major challenge remains: consumers cannot physically try on products before purchase. Augmented reality (AR) and virtual try-on features address this issue by allowing consumers to virtually try on cosmetic products, creating a more realistic shopping experience. This research analyzes the factors that affect the adoption of AR in the Indonesian cosmetics market, focusing on perceived usefulness, convenience, and perceived augmentation as determinants of customer engagement and purchase intention. Based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Theory of Interactive Media Effects (TIME), a conceptual framework was developed to analyze these relationships. Quantitative methods were applied using convenience sampling and snowball sampling, with data collected from 350 respondents who had prior experience using virtual try-on for cosmetics through mobile commerce. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS was used to test the proposed relationships between the variables. The results indicate that perceived usefulness, convenience, and perceived augmentation have a positive effect on customer engagement and purchase intention. Additionally, customer engagement was found to be a significant mediator between the three factors and purchase intention, highlighting its crucial role in driving consumer purchase intention.

Abstract

Digital transformation in human resource department (HRD) within performance appraisal process is initiated from employee management and supported by the commitment of leaders to create aspects of openness and fairness. In this context, PT. X Surabaya is a steel construction company that still carries out employee performance appraisal process manually, causing problems such as being considered unfair, non-transparent, and inaccurate in the assessment process, as well as frequent delays in the process. This causes feelings of unfairness and suspicion from employees, leading to a negative work atmosphere and impacting productivity and performance. Therefore, this research aims to design employee performance appraisal information system by applying Waterfall model as the development method. The novelty was the integration of human resource (HR) transformation from traditional to digital, by prioritizing the principles of fairness and transparency in the context of employee performance appraisal. This result showed that web-based performance appraisal information system effectively managed the appraisal process digitally, enabling leaders to monitor employee performance and enhance time efficiency. The existence of a system prioritizes transparency and fairness because the assessment process was carried out in two directions, from leaders to employees. Therefore, employee welfare and job satisfaction were improved due to effective and objective assessment.

Abstract

Rapid technological evolution has compelled many higher education institutions to adopt digital-based customer service systems to improve efficiency and productivity. At the same time, service quality in higher education institutions influences credibility and competitiveness in the sector. Therefore, an evaluation of a web-based customer service platform at a university in Malang is necessary. This research aims to evaluate the service quality of this platform from a user perspective and identify priority areas for improvement using the Zone of Tolerance (ZOT) framework. This research applied a mixed-method design. The population consisted of 1,506 students from 2021 to 2023, and the sample consisted of 102 respondents, obtained through questionnaires and one interview. Quantitative analysis measured desired, adequate, and perceived services using the DeLone and McLean model, while qualitative analysis applied thematic analysis to enrich the findings. Results show that no indicators fall below the ZOT, 13 indicators are within it, and one exceeds user expectations. This research is novel in applying the ZOT for the first time to evaluate an online customer service platform in higher education and in using the DeLone and McLean model rather than the commonly applied SERVQUAL instrument. The findings provide insights for improving service quality and enhancing user satisfaction.

Abstract

This study aims to examine BNPL repayment procrastination through the lens of Temporal Motivation Theory (TMT), particularly focusing on three key components, namely present bias, value, and delay (installment period). To achieve the study aim, survey data were collected from 134 active BNPL users in Indonesia and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The obtained results showed that present bias significantly increased BNPL repayment procrastination, while perceived value (reward) did not directly reduce it. Furthermore, delay (installment period) was found to positively contribute to procrastination but did not moderate the relationship between present bias and procrastination. The insignificant moderating effects of value and delay suggest that long-term BNPL users may not prioritize rewards when postponing repayments. The results also show that financially stable users with fixed incomes and short-term installment preferences have less tendency to procrastinate, while those with high outstanding balances or longer installment plans face greater risks. This study extends the application of TMT in a fintech context and provides practical insights for improving BNPL risk assessments, designing repayment schemes, and promoting financial literacy. As a recommendation, future investigation should explore factors such as self-control, financial literacy, and perceived financial stress to gain deeper insights into BNPL repayment behavior across diverse consumer segments.
