Abstract

Seagrass is a high-level flowering plant (angiospermae) that lives in shallow waters up to a depth of 50-60 meters and can even reach a depth of 90 meters, with the highest abundance in the tidal zone. Tapadaa Village, located in Botumoito District, Boalemo Regency, is a coastal area with high seagrass ecosystem potential. Local people use seagrass beds for various economic activities such as collecting gastropods (snails) and sea cucumbers, fishing, and as a boat mooring area. However, these activities can potentially threaten seagrass's survival in the area. This study aims to identify the types of seagrasses and calculate their composition and density in the waters of Tomini Bay, Tapadaa Village. The study was conducted in May 2024 using a 50x50 cm quadrant method. The data collected includes species composition and seagrass density. The results of the study showed that there were nine types of seagrasses in the waters of Tomini Bay, Tapadaa Village, namely Cymodocea rotundata, Cymodocea serrulata, Enhalus acoroides, Halodule pinifolia, Halodule uninervis, Halophila ovalis, Syringodium isoetifolium, Thalasia hemprichi, and Thalassodendron ciliatum. The most dominant species was Halodule pinifolia (37.18%), followed by Cymodocea rotundata (30.06%). Meanwhile, the species with the lowest composition was Enhalus acoroides (0.14%). The total density of seagrass reached 5.403.16 ind/m². These findings are expected to provide vital information for conservation efforts and management of seagrass ecosystems in the area.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the rate of coastal abrasion and to formulate management strategies based on spatial and participatory approaches along the coastline of Wonomulyo District. The methods used include spatial analysis of shoreline changes from 2015 to 2025, field observations, and a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis to develop adaptive and context-specific strategies. The mapping results reveal that a significant portion of the coastline has experienced considerable abrasion, particularly in zones 84 to 86, where the shoreline has shifted most drastically inland. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of spatial abrasion data as a primary foundation for constructing practical management strategies. Unlike previous studies that primarily focused on mapping and identifying vulnerable zones, this research advances a zoning-based approach that incorporates technical, ecological, and social considerations. Four main strategies are proposed: (1) ecosystem-based restoration of coastal vegetation; (2) reinforcement of physical structures collaboratively designed and maintained with local communities; (3) enhancement of community capacity through training and assistance; and (4) institutional collaboration among government bodies, academics, and local conservation groups. The study concludes that effective abrasion management requires an integrated and participatory approach. Key recommendations include the need for regular mapping, strengthening of local capacities, and inter-institutional synergy in efforts to mitigate coastal abrasion.

Abstract

Pengastian Beach is one of the beaches with high tourism activity and ongoing development that may potentially disrupt the condition of seagrass vegetation. This study aims to assess the ecological condition of seagrass beds at Pengastian Beach by evaluating species diversity, density, and percentage cover. The research was conducted using a 50 x 50 cm quadrat transect method at 33 sampling points across 3 stations, with each station containing 11 points. Three seagrass species were identified: Syringodium isoetifolium, Cymodocea rotundata, and Thalassia hemprichii. Seagrass density ranged from 321 to 900 individuals per square meter (ind/m²). The percentage of seagrass cover ranged from 0 to 15%, indicating that the seagrass beds are in a very poor condition. The average temperature at Pengastian Beach ranged from 28.4°C to 28.8°C. The beach has a low salinity level of 20 ppt. The current velocity ranged from 1.2 to 1.5 meters per second. Water clarity was recorded at 95%, and the water depth was measured at 92 cm. The pH levels ranged from 8.08 to 8.12. The results show that the seagrass species Thalassia hemprichii had a very low density, while Syringodium isoetifolium had the highest density among the observed species. Ecologically, Pengastian Beach is experiencing environmental stress and requires sustainable management.

Abstract

Tilapia is a fish species in Indonesia with significant economic value. Tilapia cultivation has excellent prospects, both domestically and internationally, requiring effective measures to ensure production meets community standards. The prospects for developing tilapia cultivation are quite promising, as the low production costs of tilapia farming allow for higher profits. Biofloc technology is an alternative solution to the waste problem of intensive farming. This technology is highly advantageous because it not only reduces inorganic nitrogen waste from leftover feed and feces, but also provides supplemental protein feed for farmed animals, thereby increasing growth and feed efficiency. This study aims to analyze the benefits and factors that influence the success of tilapia biofloc cultivation in SikoFish Gorontalo. This study uses a quantitative method with data collection techniques through surveys and observations. The results of the study indicate that tilapia biofloc cultivation can generate profits of Rp. 180,585,000 / harvest with a return on investment of 1.14 years. Factors that influence the success of tilapia biofloc cultivation are location selection, container preparation, media preparation, seed preparation, seed distribution, feed management, water quality management, and floc density. Therefore, it is necessary to develop business and production cost efficiency to increase income and make tilapia biofloc cultivation viable.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to assess the diversity, evenness, and dominance of gastropods in dead coral habitats, as well as the current environmental condition of the waters around Lahe Island, Pohuwato Regency. The research was conducted in April 2025. Gastropod sampling was carried out using the hand-picking technique during low tide conditions, employing a belt transect method measuring 50 × 3 meters across three observation stations. Water quality parameters were measured during the early stages of tidal retreat. Based on the results, gastropod species composition consisted of 34 species, 185 individuals, and 12 families (Buccinidae, Columbellidae, Conidae, Cypraeidae, Mitridae, Muricidae, Nassariidae, Pisaniidae, Strombidae, Tegulidae, and Turbinidae). The Shannon diversity index (H’) at all observation stations was < 2, indicating low diversity. The Simpson dominance index (D) at all stations was < 1, suggesting a high level of dominance. The evenness index (Ep) showed values approaching 0, indicating low species evenness. The water conditions around Lahe Island, Pohuwato Regency, indicate a moderate level of pollution based on the Shannon diversity index (H’), yet still support the survival of marine biota.
