Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the learning process, which is usually carried out face-to-face in front of the class, can no longer be carried out, resulting in the change of the learning system to online. This study aims to improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts at SMP Negeri 1 Bangko with the research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR). CAR comes from the west known as Classroom Action Research (CAR). As stated by Arikunto, CAR is research conducted in the classroom with the aim of improving or improving the quality of learning practices. The results obtained about the understanding of students' concepts before conducting the class action research showed an average class of 63.50 with the number of students who completed 13 people with a classical percentage of 42%. In the first cycle, the average class obtained was 69.83 with a total of 20 people who completed with a percentage of the classical number of 65%. The increase occurred in the second cycle with an average class of 81 with the number of students who completed 31 people with a percentage of the classical number of 100% so that it can be concluded that using the Think Talk Write (TTW) strategy can improve understanding of mathematical concepts.

The aim of this research was to provide an overview of the implementationof online distance learning during the pandemic at grade 4-C of elementary school. Learning before the pandemic was certainly different from learning during the pandemic since the SARS-CoV-2 virus was transmitted and caused Covid (Coronavirus Disease). Therefore, schools needed to adjust the learning implementation, such as changing the interactions and learning methods. The method used in this study was a qualitative descriptive method and the data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of this study indicated that teachers carried out learning activities starting from preparing the Lesson Plan (RPP), learning media (videos), and learning resources such as textbooks and Student Worksheets (LKS). During the implementation of online distance learning, the teacher carried out preliminary activities such as praying, asking students' readiness, and apperception, then, continuing to the core activities in which the teacher delivered the material by using standard language, the learning resources, and doing question and answer with students. Then, during the assessment, the teacher assessed students' spiritual and social attitudes through learning via  Google Meet, assessed students’ knowledge using Google Forms, and conducted skills assessments in the form of product assessments and practice assessments.

The object of this study was the 2013 curriculum integrated thematic book revised edition of 2017/2018. The method in this study was content analysis. The values found in the content of history materials at elementary schools included educational, instructive, recreational, and inspirational values. These values were contained in theme 5 “my hero” at grade IV, theme 7 “events in life” at grade V, and theme 3 “figures and inventions” at grade VI. In addition,, several character values were also found including heroism, nationalism, cooperation, unyielding, vigilant, and willingness to sacrifice for the sake of people. This study demonstrated the benefits of studying history for students. The 2013 curriculum integrated thematic book was very suitable to be used as a medium in studying history material at elementary school.

The model of development in this study was the five-step ADDIE model of refinement analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. Based on the validation from language, material and media experts, the average percentage of the learning videos was 89.7% with "very valid/ very worthy" category. The experimental stage of the study was carried out by as many as three phases of one to one, trial by small groups, and test by large groups. Students’ response to the science-based Videoscribe learning video on trial one to one obtained a percentage of 100% that was in "excellent" category. Students’ response to small group trials received an average of 96.25% in "excellent” category, and students' responses to large group trials received an average of 96.6% in "excellent " category. Whereas, the students’ science literacy test results in each test obtained a various value; one-on-one test obtained an average of 66.7% with "good” category. Small group testing got an average of 58.3% with "fairly good " category. Whereas, the large group trial got an average value of 57.3% that fell into "fairly good" category.
