Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to (1) determine the form of directive speech acts used by lecturers in the FKIP office of the Larantuka Teaching and Technology Institute. (2) describe the form of directive speech acts used by lecturers in the FKIP work space of the Larantuka Institute of Teacher Training and Technology. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. After the researcher collected the data, the data was then analyzed. The results showed that: the forms of directive speech acts in the interaction between lecturers in the work room at the Larantuka Teaching and Technology Institute are as follows: 1) the directive's speech act prompts, 2) the directive's speech act requests, 3) the directive's speech act suggests, 4) the directive speech act advises and, 5) the directive speech act is challenging. The strategy of telling frankly without further ado is more widely used in instructing speech. This is done to reinforce the speech telling the friend, so that the telling speech does not seem playful. Speaking frankly with small talk as courtesy expressed by using the same identity marker, namely using familiar greeting words, so that the lecturers' speech in the work room becomes polite. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui bentuk tindak tutur direktif yang digunakan oleh dosen dalam ruang kerja FKIP Institut Keguruan Dan Teknologi Larantuka. (2) mendeskripsikan bentuk tindak tutur direktif yang digunakan oleh dosen dalam ruang kerja FKIP Institut Keguruan Dan Teknologi Larantuka. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Setelah peneliti mengumpulkan data, data tersebut kemudian dianalisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: bentuk-bentuk tindak tutur direktif dalam interaksi sesama dosen di ruang kerja di Institut Keguruan Dan Teknologi Larantuka adalah sebagai berikut: 1) tindak tutur direktif menyuruh, 2) tindak tutur direktif memohon, 3) tindak tutur direktif menyarankan, 4) tindak tutur direktif menasehati dan, 5) tindak tutur direktif menantang. Strategi bertutur terus terang tanpa basa-basi lebih banyak digunakan dalam tuturan menyuruh. Hal ini dilakukan untuk mempertegas tuturan menyuruh teman tersebut, sehingga tuturan menyuruh tidak terkesan main-main. Bertutur terus terang dengan basa-basi sebagai kesantunan yang diungkapkan dengan cara menggunakan penanda identitas yang sama yaitu menggunakan kata sapaan keakraban, sehingga tuturan dosen dalam ruang kerja menjadi santun.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The study from home is a method for implementing the teaching and learning process during covid-19. The implementation of this method presents its own obstacles for parents who suddenly have to be able to become teachers for their children. This qualitative descriptive study aims to describe the application of the game for English to Young Learner of online workshop participants. Data is collected through note documentation method. Data is analyzed by the game features according to Bennet. The results showed that the games have been implemented without an explanation of time allocation. The application of the game is free of charge. In the game method, the involvement of physiology is greater than physical. The tools used are varied. The games played by workshop participants with their children are not at risk. Children have shown success through positive attitudes during the learning process. Games in learning English focus on teaching vocabulary. Keywords: English Language, Young Learner (YL), English teaching method and media. ABSTRAK Study from Home menjadi mentode pelaksanaan Proses Belajar Mengajar pada masa pandemic. Penerapan metode ini memberikan kendala tersendiri bagi para orang tua yang secara tiba – tiba harus mampu menjadi guru bagi anak – anaknya. Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan metode permainan untuk English Young Learner (EYL) oleh peserta workshop online. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode dokumentasi. Analisis data yaitu metode deskripsi berdasarkan tujuh ciri permainan menurut Bennet. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa permainan telah diterapkan dengan baik tanpa penjelasan batasan alokasi waktu. Penerapan metode permainan tidak membutuh biaya. Metode permainan oleh ketiga peserta, keterlibatan fisiologi lebih besar dari pada fisik. Alat bantu yang digunakan sangat variatif. Permainan yang dimainkan oleh peserta worshop bersama putera puteri mereka tidak beresiko. Anak – anak sebagai peserta didik sudah menunjukkan keberhasilan melalui sikap positif selama proses pembelajaran. Permainan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris fokus pada pengajaran kosakata.

Abstract

This research is intended to develop a web-based learning application “Mahir Berbahasa” to support the learning process of BIPA students at IKIP Budi Utomo. The software used in the development of this application is the Codeigniter and Bootstrap Framework. It is hoped that this application will become a student learning medium that can make it easier for foreign students to continue studying wherever they are. This type of research is R&D development research. The development model used is the development of Borg and Gall. The results of this research development product in the form of "Mahir Berbahasa" learning applications have been tested and have received good ratings from users and validators. The assessment includes aspects of visual appearance, aspects of media relevance, aspects of material organization, aspects of software engineering, aspects of effects for learning strategies, and aspects of language. From a value range of 1-5, the user gives a mean value of 4.72, while the validator gives a value of 4.52. Based on this assessment, this learning application is in the category of feasible to use.

Abstract

The development of appropriate teaching materials not only needs to be adjusted to the latest curriculum but also to the needs of the parties involved in learning. One of the parties involved is the learner. The needs of learners in the learning process must be known in order to develop appropriate teaching materials. This study is intended to map the needs of learners in the Seminar on ELT class as a first step to develop appropriate teaching materials by considering the different characteristics of students through the perspective of their epistemological beliefs. The participants involved in this study were 102 students who had attended the Seminar on ELT class. The result showed that majority of Seminar on ELT students (95%) are having sophisticated epistemic beliefs which we can describe them as the students that believe the knowledge is always changing or tentative, learning can be done individually by everyone, their knowledge of English did not come from authority, but through reason or logic experiences. They also believe that everyone can learn English from the beginning, no matter what age, or even their background. They agree on process-oriented learning. They also tend to have high motivation to learn English regardless of whether the motivation is extrinsic or intrinsic motivation. With this finding, we can finally understand the characteristics of the Seminar on ELT students as an initial step to develop an appropriate course material. Abstract

This article aims to describe the exploration of NTT's culture in the novels by Gerson Poyk as one of the national writers, Angkatan `66. This NTT-born author writes novel literary works by raising cultural traditions as a characteristic, the identity of the NTT people, cultural traditions with the values ​​contained in them that are lived and preserved, although some have begun to disappear by the influence of modern culture. The uniqueness of Gerson Poyk is that he is able to raise the cultural background of NTT with its vast territory into his novels with a straightforward, expressive, and high aesthetic style of expression. Not only limited to cultural traditions but tourism development, agricultural cultivation, commercial crops, livestock, fisheries, handicrafts. Through a number of his novels, Gerson Poyk explores the culture that exists in the life of the people of NTT which can be used as a character of Indonesian culture. This research uses the theoretical basis of sociology of literature with the emphasis that the novel is actually a form of socio-historical embodiment, where novels can witness paintings of social and social reality. history, into a genre that is close to social phenomena. Using qualitative research methods in literature studies can describe, understand, and explain the exploration of NTT culture in the novel by Gerson Poyk. Exploration of NTT culture as a character of Indonesian culture in Gerson Poyk's novel, 1) exploring the cultural elements of the knowledge system towards the love of the NTT people to study, 2) exploring the cultural elements of the kinship and kinship system of the love of the NTT people to maintain relationships, 3) exploring the cultural elements of the system. livelihoods towards the love of the people of NTT doing work, 4) exploring the cultural elements of the religious system towards the love of the people of NTT in carrying out religious traditions, and 5) exploring elements of art culture towards the love of the people of NTT in the arts and culture.

Abstract

The article explains about the representation of maritime-metaphors of Lamaholot Language of Bahinga Community in Increasing the values of educational character. The aims of this article are to find the kinds of maritime-metaphor and to find the representation of those metaphors in building the students’ characters. Research approaches in this article is descriptive qualitative. The data retrieved by using observation and interview as main data and secondary data is taken from the thesis. The results show that there are nine maritime-metaphors of Lamaholot Language of Bahinga Community can be used in increasing the values of educational character.

Abstract

This article describes the diversity of languages ​​formed by the development of society in various aspects of life which includes various social activities, such as trade, government, health, education, and religion. The variety of languages ​​has functions such as the variety of languages ​​used by fish sellers in Oka market, Lamawalang, Larantuka District, East Flores Regency which grows and develops especially among speakers of the fish seller community. This variety of languages ​​can be found when fish sellers offer their fish to buyers where there is language contact, between Indonesian and local languages. The functions of various languages ​​used by fish sellers in the Oka Lamawalang market, Larantuka District, East Flores Regency with the Oka Lamawalang dialect include (1) instrumental (directive) functions, such as seducing, convincing, and asking, (2) interactional or interaction functions, such as asking , forms of interaction in the form of rejection and forms of agreement interaction, (3) representational or representational (declarative) functions such as showing and expressing, (4) personal functions, such as joy and disappointment.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui respon implementasi bahan ajar digital Bahasa Mandarin “流利说汉语” [liúlì shuō hànyǔ]. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen pendukung berupa lembar angket terbuka yang disebar melalui google form. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah guru pengampu mata pelajaran Bahasa Mandarin dan siswa SMA kelas X lintas minat SMAN 2 Malang. Data dalam penelitian ini merupakan hasil lembar angket terbuka yang diisi oleh guru pengampu mata pelajaran Bahasa Mandarin dan siswa SMA kelas X. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu respon siswa dan guru Bahasa Mandarin terhadap implementasi bahan ajar digital “流利说汉语” [liúlì shuō hànyǔ]pada pembelajaran Bahasa Mandarin mendapatkan respon positif. Terdapat saran yang diberikan oleh peneliti agar penggunaan bahan ajar digital tersebut dapat digunakan secara maksimal. Bahan ajar tersebut lebih baik digunakan mengunakan jaringan internet agar dapat mengoperasikan video didalamnya, Saran selanjutnya yaitu untuk pengembang selanjutnya agar dapat mengembangkan bahan ajar sejenis yang dapat digunakan secara offline dan materi lainnya yang sesuai dengan Kurikulum yang berlaku.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk membentuk karakter anak melalui habituasi dongeng pada pembelajaran di sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara dan studi kepustakaan. Subyek penelitian ini adalah guru sekolah dasar berjumlah 10 orang, yang diambil dengan teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu purposive sampling. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini terdiri atas tahapan pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, serta simpulan/verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mendongeng merupakan cara efektif yang dapat dilakukan guru untuk menumbuhkan karakter siswa. Dengan mengaitkan materi pembelajaran dengan dongeng siswa menjadi tertarik untuk belajar. Karakter tokoh serta alur cerita dalam dongeng memberikan pesan moral yang dapat ditiru peserta didik. Adapun karakter yang dapat ditanamkan dalam dongeng adalah sopan santun, kedisiplinan, nilai-nilai moral, spiritual, agama, tanggung jawab, cinta tanah air, pantang menyerah.

Abstract

The objective of the study is to find out how to use three phase technique with vocabulary quiz as a pre activity to improve students’ reading performance, specifically, their reading motivation and comprehension achievement. This was a classroom action research and there were two cycles in this study. The result displayed the procedures of using three phase technique with vocabulary quiz as a pre activity was effective to improve students’ reading performance. The procedures, which covers four main phases: the vocabulary quiz, the pre, whilst and post reading activities, had fulfilled the criteria of success in this study. This fact was clearly shown by the increase of students’ reading motivation as indicated by their learning orientation in reading class. They were at least externally imposed to the rules that they accepted as norms to follow so as not to feel guilty. Their attitudes and behaviors toward reading class were good enough as expected by the teacher. The students’ reading comprehension achievement was also improved to 66.73 as their average score of reading comprehension test had gained the minimal passing grade expected by the school curriculum that was 65. Furthermore, it is possible that the procedures of this reasearch can get better result for the future study if they are applied more deliberately and more effectively.
