Abstract

Each society's language acts have their own characteristics as a reflection of culture, including the language acts of Javanese society. One of the cultural riches of Javanese society, especially in terms of language, is wangsalan. Wangsalan reflects the sophistication of Javanese thinking. Javanese people cultivate language through the creation of wangsalan. Wangsalan is still often used by people in Bendo Village Gondang District Tulungagung Regency for daily communication activities. The theoretical basis used in this research is ethnolinguistics with a semiotic approach. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The data source in this research is the people of Bendo Village Gondang District Tulungagung Regency. The research data is in the form of oral data, namely the speech of the people in Bendo Village which contains wangsalan. The method used in providing data is the listening and speaking method. At the analysis stage, the researcher observes and describes the problem in the research object. There were 21 wangsalan usage data that were collected. Based on research, there are three types of wangsalan used in everyday communication, namely wangsalan lamba, wangsalan rangkep, and wangsalan memet. The use of wangsalan by Javanese people is related to thought and mental exercise. The communicative function of using wangsalan based on research data is the function of advising, flattering, insinuating, reminding, notification, requesting, ordering, and making small talk.Tindak berbahasa setiap masyarakat memiliki kekhasan sebagai cerminan kebudayaan, termasuk tindak berbahasa masyarakat Jawa. Salah satu kekayaan kebudayaan masyarakat Jawa, khususnya dalam hal berbahasa, adalah wangsalan. Wangsalan mencerminkan kecanggihan berpikir masyarakat Jawa. Masyarakat Jawa mengolah bahasa melalui penciptaan wangsalan. Wangsalan masih sering digunakan oleh masyarakat di Desa Bendo Kecamatan Gondang Kabupaten Tulungagung untuk kegiatan berkomunikasi sehari-hari. Landasan teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah etnolinguistik dengan pendekatan semiotika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah masyarakat Desa Bendo Kecamatan Gondang Kabupaten Tulungagung. Data penelitian berupa data lisan, yaitu tuturan masyarakat di Desa Bendo yang memuat wangsalan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penyediaan data adalah metode simak dan cakap. Pada tahap analisis, peneliti mengamati dan menguraikan masalah pada objek penelitian. Terdapat 21 data penggunaan wangsalan yang berhasil dikumpulkan. Berdasarkan penelitian, terdapat tiga jenis wangsalan yang digunakan dalam komunikasi sehari-hari, yakni wangsalan lamba, wangsalan rangkep, dan wangsalan memet. Penggunaan wangsalan oleh masyarakat Jawa berhubungan dengan olah pikir dan olah batin. Fungsi komunikatif penggunaan wangsalan berdasarkan data penelitian adalah fungsi menasihati, menyanjung, menyindir, mengingatkan, pemberitahuan, permohonan, memerintahkan, dan basa-basi.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the Indonesian language learning process in terms of the scientific writing abilities of senior high school students and find solutions to these learning problems. This type of research is a mixed method. Samples were obtained randomly from three senior high schools in Indonesia with 272 students as subjects. The process of gathering data involved watching teaching aids. Observing the learning process and evaluating the students' scientific writing skills utilizing instrument assessments that have been Aiken formula verified and concept validated using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) with the Linear Structural Model (Lisrel). Observational data on curricular papers and learning process observations are reported descriptively. Comparatively, statistics on learning outcomes in the form of students' writing skills are examined by estimating the proportion of pupils who fulfill traditionally established standards. The results showed that the students' scientific writing skills needed to meet the classical achievements. The evaluation results showed that a new, more effective learning strategy was required to improve students' scientific writing skills by developing learning models. Developing the inquiry learning model of local wisdom dilemmas stories (ILWDS) is recommended as an alternative to making learning effective and efficient.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to see the cultural comparison of the novel Wedding Agreement by Mia Chuz and the novel Hati Suhita by Khilma Anis. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a comparative literary approach. The results of this research show that there are similarities and differences between the two novels in aspects of the nature of human life in the categories of suffering and happiness, besides that there are also aspects of the nature of human work and the nature of human time in the categories of present and past. As for aspects of the nature of human time in the future category, there are no differences in cultural aspects in the two novels. The conclusion of the comparative study of cultural aspects is that there are similarities and differences in every aspect of the two novels, except for differences in aspects of the nature of human time in the future category.

Abstract

This research aims to identify students' perceptions of the use of SIBI e-books which are used as a means of digital literacy in learning Indonesian. The method used in this research is a survey method with a quantitative approach. The research sample used was students of class XI F4 SMA Negeri 1 Mantup using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection in this research used a questionnaire technique with a questionnaire sheet as the instrument. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive statistics to determine the mean and percentage of student questionnaire results. The results of data analysis show that the perception of class These results indicate that student perceptions lead to positive perceptions. Students and teachers can receive and utilize SIBI e-books very well as a means of digital literacy and support in learning Indonesian. SIBI e-books are digital media that are very relevant, good, and effective in developing students' digital literacy, especially in learning Indonesian.

Abstract

The naming of nature lovers is a unique phenomenon. They call it by the name of the field or the name of the jungle. However, for various reasons, not all nature lovers use the name jungle. This study aims to describe the background of the naming, the process of forming the name, and the sense of value that arises from the name. This study uses a type of qualitative approach. The data source for this research is students who are nature lovers in Malang. The data for this research are the names of the jungle members of nature lovers. The results of this study indicate that (1) the naming background can be shown through attitude, regional origin, and physical characteristics, (2) the process of forming is done by shortening or acronym and created by nature lovers themselves, (3) there are positive and negative taste values in each name.

Abstract

This research aims to describe romanticism as a form of aesthetics in the novel Hilmy Milan by Nadia Ristivani. The problem discussed in this research is how the novel Hilmy Milan by Nadia Ristivani actualizes romanticism as a form of aesthetics. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literature study technique. The data is in the form of quotations that contain meaning about romanticism. The data source in this research is a novel entitled "Hilmy Milan" by Nadia Ristivani, the data collection technique is done by reading and recording techniques. Source triangulation, which involves examining various relevant sources to measure the reliability of research data, was used to verify the validity of the data. Qualitative descriptive technique was used to conduct data analysis, the data was analyzed to find the form of romanticism and presented along with its interpretation descriptively. The results of this study show that the novel "Hilmy Milan" by Nadia Ristivani has two different aspects of romance: the romance aspect and the expressive aspect. The romance aspect involves Hilmy and Milan, while the expressive aspect includes joy and sorrow, true love, loyalty, and achieving dreams.

Abstract

Marriage is a part of the human life cycle that plays an important role in various aspects of human life.Marriage can be seen as something important because it contains values. Marriage can be seen as a social institution, so marriage regulates relationships between individuals in determining their respective roles and responsibilities. In many Indonesian literary works, you can find images ofmarriage. This research uses the short story Yang Menangis di Balik Pelaminan by Alda Muhsi toexamine the views of the characters and the value of traditional marriage contained in the short story. The short story is analyzed using literary sociology to see the phenomenon of traditional marriage and its value. This research found that there were differences in the views of figures regarding traditional marriage. There are views of figures who state the importance of traditional marriages and there are also views which believe that traditional marriages no longer need to be implemented. This is because times have changed. The result of the next discussion is regarding the value of traditional marriage inshort stories. There are three values in traditional marriage, namely, value in terms of human needs,value in terms of human ability to capture and develop it, value seen from cultural processes.

The traditional study of literature has predominantly relied on qualitative methods, such as close reading and interpretive analysis. However, with the advent of digital humanities and advanced computational techniques, scholars are increasingly exploring quantitative approaches to literary analysis. This research delves into the feasibility of quantifying literary works, examining both the potential and the limitations of such methods. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature and methodologies, this study aims to provide a balanced perspective on the intersection of quantitative and qualitative literary analysis.

Abstract

The approach of this research is pragmatics. Pragmatics is a science of linguistics that learn about the meaning of a sentence or utterance based on the context of the sentence or utterance being discussed. This research focused on the types of cooperative principle that contains in the titanic movie. The aim of this research is to find out types of maxims and examine of the maxims types. The dialogue of the movie showed that this film shows the conversation between superiors and subordinates based on class, namely upper class/class and lower class/class. Based on data that the researcher found from this movie, it is shows that their used cooperative principle in their dialogue. The difference between these groups is that there are no multiple interpretations or misunderstandings in their discussions. In this research applied theory from Grice specifically for the types or rules of maxims. This is research is descriptive qualitative and to collect the data the method is observational method. To analyze the data the method is pragmatic identity. The result of analysis the data are maxims of quantity, maxims of quality, maxims of relations, and maxims of manner. In the conversation of the participants in the movie who used the cooperative principle it will manage the aim or the meaning that being discussed.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to 1) describe the main characters, Srikuning and Sudjana, in the novel Sri Kuning by R. Hardjowirogo; 2) explain the nature of inner conflict; 3) identify the causing factors; and 4) explain how the characters resolve their conflict. This research used a qualitative descriptive method with Sigmund Freud's literary psychology approach that relates to the id, ego, and superego. The data collection technique is carried out through a literature study by reading carefully over and over again. The results of this study are as follows: 1) Srikuning's character: coquettish, assertive, wise, etc.; Sudjana's character: skilled in fighting, careful, honest, etc. 2) The form of Srikuning's inner conflict: anger, sadness, inner conflict, etc., whereas Sudjana's: anger, sadness, heartlessness, etc. 3) Factors that cause Srikuning's inner conflict: being set up by Subagja and Bendara Juru, being defamed by Bendara Juru, etc., whereas Sudjana's are: Subagja interfering with his affairs with Srikuning, being emotionally provoked by Pak Thiwul, etc. 4) Direct aggression, diversion, and rationalisation are Srikuning's methods of resolving conflict, whereas Sudjana uses regression and rationalisation to handle it.
