Abstract

ABSTRACT             Dragonfly (Odonata) is an insect groups that has medium size to large size, attractive color and it is depended on the waters areas such as in paddy field. The purpose of this study is to know the species of dragonflies found in the paddy fields of Rimbo Tarok of Gunung Sarik Village of Kuranji District, Padang. The samples were collected by using the insect net in morning and evening at three locations: the fields, marshes, and ponds. In this study, four species of dragonflies were found. These are Orthetrum sabina, Crocothemis servilia, Pantala flavescens (belong to Libellulidae family), and Agriocnemis femina (Agriocnidae family).

Abstract

ABSTRACTAppropriate use of instructional materials in the learning process can improve the understanding, interest, and motivation of students to learn. Many things can teachers do to help students achieve better learning outcomes, one of them by developing teaching materials of interest. Handout that based image is one of the teaching materials to enable students to understand the biology material. This research aims is to produce valid Handout that based image on the material and practical human respiratory system for SMP. This research is a development by using the 4-D model of the development comprising the steps of define, design, develop and disseminate. Phase disseminate not done due to limited funds and time that the author had. The results of this development is to produce a handout with a picture-based criteria are very valid and very practical.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTeaching materials that are less attractive and it is not yet appropriate with the student’s need will disturb the teaching of biology. The purposes of this study was to produce a valid and practical handout, based on image with a concept map on the motion system in humans for junior high school student. The another purpose was to determine the feasibility stage of development of handout based on image with a concept map in accordance with the level of education curriculum unit. This research was the development research of procedural models comprising the steps of defines, designs, and develops. This studied conducted at SMPN 1 Kubung class VIII for second semester of academic years 2012/2013. The data was collected by questionnaire instrument. Analytical techniques used were qualitative and quantitative analysis for the feasibility study handout based on image with a concept map on human motion system.Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the media handout based on image with a map concept on material of human motion system for SMP had valid and practical criteria.

Abstract

ABSTRACTOn the learning Biology there are many materials in picture form. Based on the writer observation to Senior High School 5 Padang, found that in teaching learning Biology process in Human Motion System material, the teacher have used a handout for the study, but  there are some shortage in that handout such as: the picture is uncomplete and not interesting, the sources of the material from one literature only. The research purpose to produce a valid and practice handout based picture for Human Motion System material in Senior High School. This is a development research by using 4D- models that consist of define phase, design phase, develop phase, and disseminate phase. However, the disseminate phase is not conduct. Develop phase conducted validity test by validators that consist of two Biology lecture and two Biology teacher of Senior High School 5 Padang. The result of the data analysis showed that the handout based picture for Human Motion System material is valid and very practice by validity value 87, 80% and practicality value 88,38%. It means that the handout based image for Human Motion System material is valid and very practice.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBamboo distributed in various places in West Sumatera, including at Anai Valley Nature Reserve  Tanah Datar District. Anai Valley Nature Reserve has a high biodiversity that estimated diversity at Anai Valley is quite high. Descriptions using the bamboo flower organs was difficult because most rare bamboo flowering and some have not flowering. It is necessary to look for other alternatives as descriptions of materials, namely by using the anatomical structure of vegetative organs such as culm. To determine the type of bamboo that is at Anai Valley Nature Reserve has conducted investigated on morphological and anatomical characters some of bamboo species, using descriptive and quantitative methods were conducted in March-July 2013. Specimens of bamboo identified in Herbarium Andalas University (ANDA) Padang. Making preparations carried out in the Laboratory of Structural Plant Development, Department of Biology, Andalas University, Padang. Results of present study, six species of bamboo in Anai Valley Nature Reserve are: Bambusa balcooa (Roxb.) Voigt, Schizostachyum brachycladum Kurz, Bambusa glaucophylla Widjaja, Schizostachyum silicatum Widjaja, Bambusa vulgaris Schrad. Ex Wendl, Schizostachyum mampouw. Anatomical culm structure of B.balcooa, B.glaucophylla. and B.vulgaris, tends to have a dominant fiber outer sheath compared with Schizostachyum genus. Genus Bambusa consists of 6-9 rows that have a separate fiber sheath of vascular bundle centripetally, while the genus Schizostachyum obtained 3-4 rows. Longest fiber in Bambusa vulgaris get on that 2830±32 mm and the shortest on Bambusa glaucophylla is 1855±20 mm . While the width of the fiber diameter on Scyzostachyum silicatum at 28±4 mm and narrowest on Bambusa vulgaris is 19±4 mm. Comparison perenkim cell diameter of the rod toward the edge of the shows that growth stems from the edges toward the inside

Abstract

ABSTRACT The existence of mangrove crab (S. paramamosain) in the Teluk Buo almost extinct. This is due to the arrest of mangrove crabs (S. paramamosain) continuously (overfhising) it conducted by the communities around there for sale or for food everyday. Also in the area of the Teluk Buo has never done research on population of S. paramamosain. The purpose doing this research was to determine the population density of S. paramamosain and to determine the physico-chemical factors on habitat water in Mangrove forest area in the Teluk Buo Kecamatan Bungus Teluk Kabung Padang West Sumatra. This research uses a descriptive survey, the research is based on selecting the location of the selected Mangrove vegetation so choose 3 stations. At every station there were 10 points (raps). Based on the results of the research showed that the population density of S. paramamosain about 1.4 individuals/trap water chemistry and physical factors in mangrove forest in the Teluk Buo Kecamatan Bungus Teluk Kabung Padang West Sumatra is also still in good tolerance for habitat of S. paramamosain.

Abstract

Abstrak Mushroom is organism of eukariot generally have many various and size. Mushroom have external form in the form of big sized fruit body so that can perceive by eyes directly. Mushroom of is include organism of heterotrof, that is organism which is life base on other organism or base on available organic materials around him. Mushroom do not have chlorophyll, berkembangbiak sexually and or by aseksual. Lembah Anais’area have elms, tree anakan which still nature and semaian anakan very meeting and also damp of air so that represent appropriate habitat for the growth of mushroom, so reseacher do the research about "An inventory High Level Mushroom in Cagar Alam Lembah Anai Kabupaten Tanah Datar West Sumatera". The purpose of the research is to know high level species of mushroom which found in Cagar Alam Lembah Anai Kabupaten Tanah Datar Sumatera Barat. This Research have done on June - September 2013. Method which used in this research is direct collection and observation to mushroom which in finding. From the research which have found 29 species macro mushroom. From result of research can be concluded that found mushroom in Lembah Anai Kabupaten Tanah Datar West Sumatra divided into 2 class that is Basidiomycetes and Ascomycetes, 4 ordo, 11 family and 20 gender.

Abstract

ABSTRACT            In teaching and learning process requires a media that is able to achieve the learning objectives. Forms of instruction a media used was teaching materials. One of teaching materials was a handout. A handout is a summary of the material that has been prepared by the teacher in the learning process. This handout was developed by using illustrations, drawings and concept maps that can develop student thinking in systematic framework. Based on explantion before the am of the study is to produce a concept map handout picture accompanied the kingdom animalia material to high school. This research is the development of a 4-D model of Thiagarajan (in Trianto, 2010:84) consist of define, design, develop and disseminate. The subjects of this study consist of two biology teachers and 20 studentss of class XI-IPA3 SMAN 2 Lengayang. The data of this study is primary data, the validity of test data and test result practicalities handout. Validity data and practicalities is in the form percentage is descriptive. The result of classified handout is valid (85,17%) by 5 validators and practical categories by teachers (87,78%) and by students categorized as very practical (90,13%). From this study produced a product concept map handout picture comes on the material kingdom animalia valid and practical.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Student Worksheet is one sheet containing materials in which there is a summary of the material that is accompanied by a collection of exercises . With the LKS students are expected to understand the description of the subject matter provided by the teacher. Based on observations and interviews that have been conducted in SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang that in the second semester junior class VII using teaching materials such as worksheets, worksheets used in schools does not meet the learning objectives that are developed by teachers and worksheets used in schools only contains only a summary of the material and not equipped with an image.This research aims to generate worksheets based Problem Solving biological material environmental pollution on a valid and practical . Type of research is the development of the procedural model that aims to produce a product, the product is developed using 3 - D stage of Four  models define phase , design , and develop .Research subjects of 5 people validator and 20 students. The research data is the primary data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. The result is the value obtained validity by faculty and teachers of 84,125 %, while the value of the practicalities of 86,87 % by teachers and by students of the value of the practicalities of 87,54 % . It can be concluded that the BLM has produced a valid and practical .

Abstract

ABSTRACKSoy milk is a food that has ingredients such as soy. Soy milk has a complete nutrient such as protein, carbohydrates, fats, minerals and vitamins. Complete nutrient content and high nutritional value, in convenient contaminated milk caused by microorganisms such as E. coli and Coliform. Associated with that we conducted this study aimed to determine the water quality of the bacteriological soy milk. This study was conducted from July to September 2013 is housed in the Laboratory of Microbiology Department of Biology, State University of Padang. This research is a descriptive study with random sampling. This study uses the Most Probable Number (MPN) using a two-stage trial testing the prediction (Presumtive Test) and test of certainty (Confirmative Test) with a range of 5:1:1. The results showed that soy milk is only 40% that meet the standards and 60% did not meet the standards set by the Ministry of Health No. 416/MENKES/PER/IX/1990 of the Terms and Drinking Water Quality Monitoring.
