Abstract

A competence of agricultural extension agents is the quality of each individual agents. The responsibility of each agricultural extension agents in Gunung Toar Subdistrict more than one vilage cause the load of tasks to complete will be heavier, this situation will affect quality and performance of the extension agent. The objectives of this research were: 1) find out  the implementation of extension, 2) analyze the competence level of extension agents and 3) to know the problems in improving the competence of extension agent. The research was conducted in Gunung Toar Subdistrict, Kuantan Singingi Regency. The respondents were the agricultural extension agents in UPTD Plantation Gunung Toar Subdistrict, they were selected by sensus and the amount of them are 5. Colection of the data was done by quisioner list and then analyzed using Likert's Summated Rating (LSR). The results showed that the level of competence of agricultural extension agent from UPTD Plantation Gunung Toar Subdistrict are classified as Competent that can be seen from the sub-variable administrative ability, program planning, program implementation, teaching ability, communication skills, understanding human behavior, the ability to maintain professionalism and evaluation. There are some problem in extension activity in order to improve the competence of agents, The problem are: formal education of agents  is still low, education and training received is still limited, working period of agent is still low, lack of media utilization as the tool of learning, the major lack of extension workforce, where ideally one village is suppose to have one agent. Abstract

The research was carried out at the experimental garden of Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau starting from January to April 2014 with aim to determine the effect of compost type on the growth of rubber seedlings mini stump and to determine the type of compost that gives the best effect for mini stump rubber seedlings. This research was carried out using a Randomized Design Completely (RDC), which consist of 6 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments in this research are: K1: without treatment, K2: TKKS compost 100 g/polybag(20 tonnes/ha), K3: Rice straw compost 100 g/polybag(20 tonnes/ha), K4: Water Hyacinth Compost 100 g/polybag(20 tonnes/ha), K5: Compost BJKS 100 g/polybag(20 tonnes/ha), K6: Compost Legume Cover Crop (LCC) 100 g/polybag(20 tonnes/ha). Data were analyzed statistically using Duncan's test New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level. Parameters measured are high accretion of shoot (cm), number of leaves (blade), increased diameter of shoot (cm), crown root ratio (g). The result of research shown, water hyacinth and BJKS compost types (100 g/polybag) effected on high increase of shoots and crown roots ratio. From some treatments, BJKS compost shown the best results are on increased number of leaves, increased diameter of shoot tunas and crown root ratio, while that at high gain the best results in the treatment plant water hyacinth compost. Abstract

Indonesia has the largest peatland among the tropical countries which are spread in Sumatra mainly in province of Riau, Kalimantan and Papua. This study aims to know the effect of water level and fertilization N, P, K on CO2 emissions in peatland with litter of akasia (Acacia crassicarpa). This research was conducted in the Screen House, Plant Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, from July to December 2013. This research was conducted experimentally using completely randomized design (CRD) of non-factorial with 6 treatments and 3 replications. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively and then the data is presented in tabular form. Parameters observed were CO2 emissions. The results showed that the increase of water level depth from 30 cm to 90 cm without fertilizer and with fertilizer N, P, K increase CO2 emissions were observed in October. However, in November and December observation, CO2 emissions were obtained in each treatment is inconsistent comparing in Oktober observation. Treatment of  water level with fertilizer N, P, K result in CO2 emissions lower than treatment without fertilizer. Key words: water level, fertilization and CO2 emissions

Abstract

The utilization of peat as a growing medium is oil palm breeding prospect of oil palm plantations that need to be studied, because the peat soil fertility is low, then the addition of compost and fertilizer micro as ameliorant material to improve soil fertility in peat. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of compost and fertilizer micro-dose combinations as well to get the best fertilizer in oil palm seedlings in peat medium .This study was performed experimentally using a completely randomized design experiments (CRD) with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor is the dose of compost fertilizer (K) which consists of 4 levels and the second factor is the dose of micro (M), which consists of 2 levels. The parameters measured were high accretion seeds (cm), increase the number of leaves (leaf), seed weevil added girth (cm), ratio feature roots and dry weight of seedlings (g). The data analysis results were significant statistical test followed by Duncan's test New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The results showed that the best combination found in compost dose of 150g/ poly bag and fertilize rmicro4g/poly bag, but did not differ significantly with doses of50g/poly bag compost fertilizer micro poly bag and 4g/poly bag being able to show the highest results in the high gain parameter seeds, increase the number of leaves, seed we eviladded girth, crown root ratio and dry weight of  seedlings.   Keywords: Palm oil, compost, fertilizer micro, combination treatment

This research was conducted at the land of the Laboratory of Plants of Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau for 2 months. The research used Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisted of 5 treatments with four replications. The Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm treat ments as follows: P0 : Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm 0 ton/ha, P1 : Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm 3 ton/ha, P2 : Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm 6 ton/ha, P3 : Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm 9 ton/ha and P4 : Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm 12 ton/ha. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance and further test DNMRT at 5% level. Parameters observed were: plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, root volume, plant fresh weight per plot and weight of crop suitable for consumption per plot. The results showed application of Tricho-compost empty bunch of oil palm significantly affect to all parameters tested. Abstract

Agricultural development with a focus on the development of processing industries base on agriculture products to in order accommodate raw materials of agriculture products and could absorb labor .This study aims to determine how internal and external factor agro-industry entrepreneurs, knowing how entrepreneurial behavior and performance of agro-industry enterprises. The location of this research in the city of Pekanbaru.The collection of data in this study using the method of survey.the sample in this research totaled 140 respondents. The data were analyzed using descriptive method. Data analysis result obtained from that internal factors of industrial entrepreneurs quite well with a value score of 3,14. External factors the businessman less good agro-indutries with a value score of 2,57. Entrepreneurial behavior of employers of agro-industries with a value of 3,88. The performance of venture entrepreneur agro-industries quite well with a value score of 3,07. Internal and external factors of agro-industries entrepreneurs can be enhanced by providing support to entrepreneurs in agro-industries such as providing counseling and training assistance-help needed by entrepreneurs in agro-industries and so created a better entrepreneurial behavior. Abstract

Pasar Buah Sudirman is a well-known fruit-store in Pekanbaru. However, to gain the loyalty of shoppers, Pasar Buah Sudirman must appeal to consumers’ social motives and experiential needs, not simply provide access to desired goods. In response to changing consumer needs, the store has grown larger and metamorphed into a convenience of one-stop shopping, to include service outlets and providing daily needs goods, not only fruits, at the store. Therefore, research was aimed to study: (1) the factors that configuring customer satisfaction in Pasar Buah Sudirman, (2) what factors that configuring customer’s loyalty of Pasar Buah  Sudirman.  This research was held in two months between May – July 2014. This research was performed by applying convenience random sampling method. The sample size was 150 respondents that shopped more than twice to the targeting store. Data were analyzed by principle component analysis (PCA). The results show from 24 attributes used in the analysis of components of PCA with factor analysis are adequate for further analysis as the 'key factors' to represent the characteristic profile of Pasar Buah Sudirman’s costumers. The 8 variables, then, can be classified as: Product Quality, Reliability, Responsiveness, Assurance, Tangible, Empathy, Costumers' satisfaction, and Costumers' Loyalty, consistent with previous researches. Other findings from this research were:  (1) the respondents were satisfied with the decision to shop and never complain with product. (2) the factors that configuring costumer’s loyalty were respondents determination to shop in Pasar Buah Sudirman, retention, repetition and referral to others.
