Abstract

Higher education must have a strategy to be able to compete with other universities. The good method had to be needed to find out the alternative strategies used to improve the competitiveness among higher education. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method was the decision-making method to obtain alternative strategies that were suitable to the needs of the higher education according to the new paradigm of higher education management. The criteria used in this study were based on RAISE++. There were relevance, academic atmosphere, internal management, sustainability, efficiency and productivity, leadership, access and equity. The relevance had five sub-criteria; the academic atmosphere had four sub-criteria; the internal management had five sub-criteria; the sustainability had four sub criteria; the efficiency and productivity had six sub-criteria; the leadership had five sub-criteria; and, the access and equity had five sub-criteria. The alternative strategy for developing the competitiveness of higher education was through the questionnaires and contained 18 strategies alternative. These alternatives were classified through AHP method. The result of this study was that there were certain alternatives that must be considered for the higher education competitiveness e.g., the management quality, leadership, human resource quality, quality control and evaluation, and good Human Resources investment. These alternatives were regarded as a recommendation for higher education to determine strategies in developing higher education competitiveness.Keywords: Analytic Hierarchy Process, Higher Education Competitiveness, RAISE++

Abstract

Internet and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is an inseparable part of human life today. This paper discusses the impact of the internet and ICT on development and economic growth comes from international journals that discuss about it and of course with a different viewpoint. The research objective was to determine whether the internet and ICT impact on growth and economic development based on international journals and comparing the results of the international journals. The results of the -jurnal journal is that in general the internet and ICT has an impact on economic development and growth of a country. The difference is that the first journal is not only limited to the expansion of the Internet business, but changing the way of doing business; The second journal is ICT is not overly significant effect on economic growth but the effect on the reduction of energy consumption; The third journal is the increasing use of the Internet helped in marketing and communications; The fourth is the internet journals positive impact on economic growth; and fifth journal is the average ICT contribute positively to economic growth. Abstract

This paper presents an overview of information and communication technology (ICT) in the era of Industry 4.0. Due to rapid advancement in ICT and the more powerful computing power of computer hardware and increase speed of the internet, the development and integration of IT, internet and other devices has grown exponentially. Abstract

This article discusses a mapping of problems of learning English encountered by students freshmen higher educations in Bandar Lampung. A set questionnaire which asked the learners’ difficulties of learning English was distributed to 180 students from  higher education institutions: IBI Darmajaya, Universitas Bandar Lampung, STKIP PGRI, DCC,UniversitasSaburai and UniversitasParamadinaMandiri.UniversitasTulangBawang. From 180 students recruited for the study, 165students responded to the questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of 40 item Likert-scale questions asking students difficulties in comprehending and  utilizing elements of pronunciaton, grammar, vocabular, functions, discourse and strategic in learning English. The results show that students encountered difficulties in pronunciations, vocabulary, function and strategic elements of English learning. Students did not encounter difficulties in discourse elements. This might be due to the fact that students got intensive trainings on discourse during their high school learning experiences.One of the implications of the study is a design of English course for higher education institutions in Bandar Lampung based the mapping of the problems encountered. Key words: mapping, Language Learning Problems, Higher Education institutions

Abstract

Rainfall is an important factor in agrarian countries such as Indonesia. Rainfall prediction has become one of the most challenging technological challenges and challenges in the world. And also the most significant and difficult task for researchers in recent years. In Data Mining, the classification algorithm is primarily used to predict rainfall, temperature, various methods of available rainfall estimation that will be used to determine the cultivation time for a particular crop, a particular crop varieties.The reliability of this prediction depends on accuracy in choosing correlated variables. If existing historical databases fail to record the most correlated variables, then the reliability of these data-driven forecast approaches is questionable. In this paper, an attempt has been made to develop a methodological framework that leverages the power of a predefined data mining analysis (decision tree). The decision-based rainfall prediction model developed maps climate variables, namely; a) temperature, b) humidity, and c) wind speed over the observed rainfall database.This paper uses data mining techniques such as Clustering Technique, Decision Tree and classification for rainfall prediction. Keywords: Rainfall,  Rainy Season, Data Mining,  Classification, Decision Tree, Bayesian Technique.

Abstract

There are a lot of company that provide a service to customer. Through provide services, company can gain a lot of profit. Services are activities, which are offered for sale or are provided in connection with sales of goods. Services are intangible, difficult to attain quality standard and it involves expenditure without tangible return benefit. Therefore, the researcher had choose topic “The Comparison between Grab and Gojek “. This is because both provide services to their customer. The purpose this research is to identify how the seven tools marketing mix used to compare between Grab and Gojek. The researcher measured the information about both application by using marketing mix, which is product, price, place, promotion, process, people and physical evidence. Besides, there are surveys that the researcher already made to gain a lot of feedback from the respondent who are using both transportation. The survey form have been given to 100 respondents randomly in Bandar Lampung, Indonesia. The questions are provide by using google form. Even though, Grab and Gojek look similar but there have differentiation between both applications. The researcher will identify the SWOT analysis for both. Grab and Gojek should know how to overcome their weaknesses and ensure that their services remain the choice and loyalty of their customers.Keywords: comparison, Grab, Gojek, SWOT

Abstract

This study is aimed at examining the relationshipbetween corporate governance mechanisms andearnings management with voluntary disclosure(voluntary disclosure) as a moderating variable.Corporate governance is proxied and measured byManagerial Ownership (MGR) Institutional Ownership(INST), board size (BSIZE), and the independentCommissioner (KI). Voluntary Disclosure of EarningsManagement proxied in this study uses the value ofdiscretionary accruals, and Voluntary Disclosure isproxied by the disclosure index. The population of thisstudy is all listed manufacturing companies in IndonesiaStock Exchange from 2006 to 2011.The results of this study are first, there is an empiricalevidence to suggest that there are negative effects ofdiscretionary accruals managerial ownership,institutional ownership and a positive influence on thesize of the board of directors. Overall, these results areconsistent with research conducted by Pranata (2003)and Rajgopal (1998) that managerial ownership andinstitutional ownership become a constraint on earningsmanagement practice. Second, testing the relationshipbetween voluntary disclosure mechanism betweencorporate governance and discretionary accruals indicatethat the earnings management practices will be carriedout if the company is getting a lot of information. Theseresults are consistent with the research conducted byAryati (2003). Third, the composition of theindependent commissioner was not statisticallysignificant to the earnings management measures, andvoluntary testing of these revelations on the relationshipbetween the practice of earnings management andcorporate governance mechanisms remains to show thatthe composition of an independent commissioner is notsignificant. Abstract

The rapid growth of Internet and social media led to new developments in the field of social customer relationship management (SCRM). An organization was required to determine the direction of business strategies by utilizing the technology in various activities so that the large-scale business was identified through the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of the information development. The quality of good business strategies was achieved by providing social media-based facilities in the form of various predetermined assessment indicators that were able to make a good contribution for companies. The objective of this study was developing the website-based application for analyzing and calculating the characteristics of each of SCRM models as a business strategy through the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) approach. The system developed in this study was extreme programming system development and black box testing. The independent variables of this study were Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. Moreover, the dependent variable of this study was the SAW method. The result of this study showed that YouTube social media was the recommended social media used as a business strategy for higher education by 0.888Keyword  :  Social Customer Relationship Management, Simple Additive Weighting, Business Strategy

Abstract

The departement of social welfare the province of Lampung is a government agency engaged in the field of social welfare, which has the objective to restore the condition or health of physical, mental and social so that it can survive in fair and good in the life of society. The department of social welfare the province of lampung is divided into : program development, development rehabilitation, development assistance and community development program development social. Currently social services do not yet have a good system in processing the data, the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. The development of the information system of persons with disabilities by using the waterfall method, the stages of the stages are carried out to analyze a running system design and implementation. With the data information system of persons with disabilities is expected to provide accurate information regarding the number of persons with disabilities in the province of Lampung in the decision making. Abstract

Procurement planning is integral aspect in any organization operations. It has seen many organizations succeed and others get extinct from the way it is planned, carried and implemented. It is an area that is prone to business cartels and corruption, hence no single day passes without a headline on the global dailies about a corrupt procurement deal. Procurement planning is the primary function that stage for subsequent procurement activities. The objective of this study is to examine the effects of procurement planning on organizational performance at the Kenya Methodist University (administration, human resource, ICT, internal audit, procurement and Finance) The independent variables in this study are, staff competence, top management support and management information systems. The dependent variable is growth and development of the organization. The literature review explains theories that relate to procurement planning and its effect on organizational growth and development. These theories include, the agency theory and the stewardship theory. The paper ends with an analytical summary of the two theories and how they relate with the modern procurement of resources in organizations.Keywords : Procurement, Agency Theory, Stewardship Theory.
