Abstract

This article aims to discuss the movement of conventional recitations to virtual recitations in Islamic boarding schools. This article is the research result of a literature review on the transformation of the virtual recitation model through new media in the pesantren scope. This study aims to uncover the adaptation of pesantren toward the development of information and communication technology due to modernization and globalization. Besides, it also focuses on the efforts of pesantren in concerning the culture created by the latest media in pesantren to maintain it. The results of this study indicate that the advancement of information and communication technology in pesantren provides a great opportunity for pesantren to adapt by transforming the recitation system virtually, so that pesantren as a symbol of Islamic civilization is still recognized by modern society as a religious institution. The researcher argues that currently pesantren must open themselves to the advancement of information and communication technology through latest media, so that pesantren graduates are also able to develop Islamic syiar activities by utilizing latest media, which impacts to equip them to compete with global community.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the values of religious moderation applied in StateMadrasah Aliyah (MAN) Keerom Papua. State Madrasah AliyahKeerom is an islamic school located in the midst of the majority Christianpopulation of Papua Province. However, the existence of Madrasah AliyahKeerom has never been disturbed. In fact, the school welcomes non-Muslimswho join to study in this school. This research uses a qualitative approach.The data were collected through interview, field observations anddocumentation. The results show that there are islamic moderation values thatare applied at State Madrasah Aliyah Keerom, namely the attitude ofcooperation between religious adherents in the madrasah environment (al-musawah), fairness (tawazzun), tolerance (tassamuh) and openness(tathawwur wa ibtikar).

Abstract

Ilmu Falak merupakan ilmu Eksakta yang menjadi bahan kajian dalam studi Islam. Hal ini disebabkn karena Ilmu Falak merupakan ilmu bantu yang terkait dengan beberapa ibadah umat Islam seperti penentuan arah kiblat, waktu sholat, dan awal bulan Islam. Seiring berkembangnya sains dan teknologi dan studi sosial humaniora dengan pendekatan multi disipliner dengan dibukanya jurusan ilmu Falak di beberapa perguruan tinggi Islam, Ilmu falak mulai menjadi bahan kajian menarik yang dapat ditinjau dari berbagai pendekatan. Penelitian ini mengkaji berbagai model pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ilmu Falak di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelusuran literatur terkait ilmu Falak. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam penelitian Ilmu Falak di Indonesia Ilmu Falak terkadang menjadi sebuah pendekatan dan terkadang menjadi objek kajian yang ditinjau dengan pendekatan lain seperti pendekatan normatif seperti fikih dan tafsir dan pendekatan sosiologis seperti sosiologi, antropologi, sejarah, gender dan lain-lain. Selain itu para peneliti terkadang kreatif dengan mengkaji ilmu Falak dengan beberapa pendekatan lain misalnya pendekatan arsitektur.

Abstract

This article is the result of research on the locality of Islam in Indonesia post-reformation, focusing on the rural areas of Riau, Sumatra. The study examines the dynamics of local Islam in three regencies, namely Siak, Pelalawan, and Rokan Hulu, in the province of Riau, uncovering various interesting phenomena. The Riau Malay Islam, which has deep historical roots influenced by Sufism, has developed a pattern and character of peaceful Islam. This peaceful Islam character is shaped through the acculturation of local traditions and culture. At a glance, this peaceful Islam seems to be a collective identity of the Riau Malay Muslims that is unchanging. However, this is not the case. Post-reformation Islam in Riau has undergone dynamic changes. The rise of radical Islamic ideologies promoted by several radical Islamic organizations has led to a shift in the mindset of the Malay Muslims from moderate and peaceful to more radical. Amidst this shift in Islamic thought in modern Riau Malay, networks of Javanese Muslims from various pesantren in Java affiliated with the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) organization have been promoting the spirit of Javanese Islam, which is peaceful, akin to the Malay Islam inherited from their ancestors. In this open social structure, each actor plays a role in interpreting Islam within the mentioned social structure.

Abstract

Pesantren is a place for students to build good character and study Islamic sciences deeply. The Traditions enforced in Pesantren for many years have moral values inspired by the hadith of the Prophet. Phenomena like this is part of the study of living hadith, which is an effort to gain knowledge about the culture, thoughts, behavior and traditions of the people inspired by the hadith of the Prophet. Ma'had Aly Hasyim Asy'ari is the center for hadith studies at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School. Ma'had Aly known as a special higher education institution based on Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) that teaches Islamic sciences. It was founded with the intention of producing qualified religious scholars, particularly in the discipline of Hadith. To achieve this goal, campus management implements a measurable academic culture. This study uses qualitative methodologies to examine the academic culture which is a manifestation of the practice of living hadith, how it is implemented and the results achieved after implementing this academic culture.

Abstract

This article examines religious moderation in Indonesia, with a focus on students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri (MTsN) 1 Trenggalek. The study utilizes surveys and data analysis using Power BI. Survey results indicate a high level of religious moderation and tolerance among students. They acquire religious knowledge from various sources, including religious leaders, religious teachers, Quranic teachers (guru/ustadz mengaji), and social media. However, there is a shift in the trend of sources for religious preaching information, with social media platforms like TikTok becoming the primary source. The article also discusses the role of kiai and challenges in maintaining religious moderation in the digital age.

Abstract

The concept of gender in Islam does not differentiate between the sexes of males and females. Women and men play crucial roles in every aspect of life, particularly as spouses cooperating in navigating the dynamics of household life. The purpose of this writing is to describe that women, especially as wives with dual roles as heads of the family, are capable of empowering themselves and their children, as well as revitalizing family functions for the sake of well-being, tranquility, and harmony within their households. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method using library research, focusing on gathering data and facts related to the research topic and analyzing the data descriptively. The results of this study conclude that women are capable of playing roles beyond their traditional roles as homemakers; they can act as household heads. Empowering women as household heads is a manifestation of their self-reliance and personal capability in addressing the issues within their households amidst their busy schedules of caring for their children, aiming for the continuity of life and the welfare of their families.

Abstract

This research aims to find out how principals formulate strategies to improve student achievement. This research used a qualitative approach, seeking to explore the vision and mission, environmental analysis and selection of strategies implemented by Principals. Data were collected using participant observation at MA NU Mojosari Nganjuk as well as interviews with the head of the madrasa and deputy head of the madrasa at the institution. This study produced three main findings: First, the vision and mission implemented by principal in achieving academic and non-academic achievements must be formulated clearly, comprehensively and specifically mentioning achievement. Second, there are two parts to the environmental analysis carried out to improve achievement, namely internal and external analysis. Internal analysis covers the weaknesses and strengths of the institution, while external analysis covers opportunities and threats. Third, strategy selection is carried out based on environmental analysis. The chosen strategy must lead to increased academic and non-academic achievement.

Abstract

Makalah ini ditulis untuk menganalisis pembangunan pendidikan pesantren neo-modernis berbasis Nadhlatul Ulama dalam perspektif kemimpinan. Teori yang digunakan untuk menjawab permasalahan adalah teori leadership dari Edward Sallis. Makalah ini tulis dengan pendekatan pustaka yang sangat luas dari jurnal, tesis, disertasi, buku, dan website yang relevan dengan penelitian ini. Data kemudian dianalisis dengan teknik deskriptif analitik dari Miles dan Huberman yaitu reduksi data, displai data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Peneliti juga berusaha membuat interpretasi sebelum menyimpulkan hasil penelitian dengan pendekatan tekstual. Makalah ini menemukan Pembangunan pesantren neo-modernis berbasis Nahdlatul Ulama pertama dapat dilakukan dengan memaksimalkan peran pemimpin dalam mengeloa visi dan simbol. Dalam aspek ini pemimpin pendidikan harus mengkomunikasikan nilai-nilai institusi kepada staf, siswa dan masyarakat luas. Kedua pemimpin pesantren harus membangun komunikasi yang baik untuk mengkomunikasikan visi pesantren neo-modernis. Pemimpin pesantren bisa memulai mengokumunikasikan visi pesantren dengan membangun sistem informasi yang baik. Ketiga, pemimpin pesantren memulai dengan perannya sebagai pemimpin dalam mengembangkan budaya mutu pesantren neo-modernis. Membangun budaya mutu bisa dilakukan dengan yang dilakukan peningkatan mutu, perencanaan mutu, pengendalian mutu, dan perbaikan serta peningkatan mutu berkelanjutan yang khas dengan mengedepankan mutu akhlak disamping orientasi lembaga pendidikan Islam yang membangun pada prestasi. Keempat, pemimpin pesantren melakukan pemberdayaan guru baik laki-laki maupun perempuan. Pemimpin pesantren harus meningkatkan skill ilmu pengetahuan serta guru menjamin kesejahteraan ekonomi.

Abstract

Terus berulangnya kasus kekerasan yang berujung kematian di pondok pesantren adalah sebuah ironi. Islam adalah agama yang mengajarkan nilai welas asih, serta mengutuk kekerasan dan tindak penghilangan nyawa tanpa hak. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kasus kekerasan yang berujung kematian di pondok pesantren dari pemberitaan media. Fokus dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis profil pelaku, motif dan sebaran geografis tempat kejadian perkara. Peneliti mengkaji 15 kasus kekerasan yang berujung kematian dalam kurun 2022 hingga 2024. Kriteria kasus yang dianalisis pada penelitian ini adalah 1) kematian santri pesantren yang diakibatkan tindak kekerasan, 2) diberitakan oleh media massa kredibel, dan 3) terjadi dalam kurun 3 tahun terakhir (2022 hingga 2024). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 67% pelaku tindak kekerasan adalah senior atau orang yang oleh pengelola pondok pesantren diberi kepercayaan mengurus pondok pesantren. Sedangkan pemicu terjadinya kasus adalah perselisihan antar individu dan tuduhan pencurian. Sedangkan motif tindak kekerasan didominasi oleh motif memberikan hukuman yang diniatkan “untuk mendisplinkan”. Sedangkan berdasarkan persebaran geografis lokasi kejadian adalah pulau jawa sebesar 80%, dengan rincian 6 kasus di Jawa Timur, dan masing-masing 3 kasus di Jawa Tengah dan Jawa Barat, selebihnya tersebar di provinsi dan pulau lainnya. Implikasi dari penelitian adalah pentingnya bagi pesantren untuk memberikan kewenangan yang jelas, terukur, dan termonitor kepada senior atau pengurus, terutama dalam hal membina dan menyelesaikan masalah di pesantren. Selain itu, pesantren perlu mengupayakan agar nilai welas asih dan anti-kekerasan yang merupakan inti ajaran agama Islam tidak hanya sebatas menjadi pengetahuan, tapi juga menjadi habit yang terus dilatihkan.
