Abstract

Unlocked energy in the machine can cause heavy equipment to move suddenly, it can hit the mechanics that are working. LOTO devices are required in this case. LOTO is a locking and labeling system for energy sources so that occupational accidents can be prevented. This study aim to know the difference of occupational accident cases on heavy equipment mechanics before and after using LOTO devices. A quasy experiment approach was used to evaluate occupational accidents. This design uses two group, intervention group, and control group, 32 heavy equipment mechanics were given LOTO device and 32 heavy equipment mechanics were not given LOTO device.Based on pre-evaluation, evaluation 1, and evaluation 2  there is a decrease in the number of occupational accidents in the intervention group after given LOTO device. Statistical test showed there was a difference in occupational accidents before and after the use of LOTO device on heavy equipment mechanics based on type of accidents (beaten, p = 0.001), (falling, p = 0.005), (pinched, p = 0.001), (pressed, p = 0.001), (crushed, p = 0.000).LOTO devices proved to be effective in preventing and reducing the number of occupational accidents in the heavy equipment mechanics.

Abstract

Diarrhea is a waterborne disease due to consumption of contaminated food/water. People in urban slum area have highest risk to get diarrhea because of poor hygiene and sanitation as well as limited access to uncontaminated water. This study aimed to identify contamination in watersources by Entamoeba Sp and helmint eggs (Anchylostoma duodenale, Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichuria) in one of urban slum area in Bandung municipality. Samples were taken from 123 watersources (74 tap water, 21 borehole, 22 dugwell and 6 spring water) which was randomly selected in 10 RW along the Cikapundung river basin in Tamansari subdistrict during period of July-September 2015. Water samples were examined by PCR to detect Entamoeba Sp and microscopic identification for helminth eggs. 90 out of 123 samples were positive for Entamoeba Sp (59 tap water, 16 dugwell, 11 borehole and 4 spring water). Helminth egg of Ascaris lumbricoides was detected from unimproved common dugwell which had very high risk of contamination. Appropriate of water treatment prior to consumption is vastly important. Physical improvement to construct improved dugwell should be done to prevent contamination from helminth eggs in watersources.

Abstract

Abstract

Nowadays, the first menstrual period in adolescent occurs faster with a lack of their preparation for menarche. This condition make them respond negatively to the menarche by experiencing mixed emotions; fears, shocked, sad, disappointed, embarrassed, worried, and confused. The result of SDKI in 2012 suggested that adolescents need to be provided with sufficient information before their first menstruation. Thus, this research purposes to determine the relationship of knowledge level of elementary school adolescent girls about menstruation and their preparation for menarche. It is an observational study using cross sectional approach. The population of this research is 37 female students of the six graders in SDN Tegalgede 01 Jember Regency who also as the research sample taken by saturated sampling technique. The data is analyzed using Rank Spearman test. The bivariate analysis is done by applying crosstabulation that students with good preparation are found more on students with good knowledge (82,4%) than students with less knowledge (30%). There is a relationship between the students’ level of knowledge about menstruation and their preparation for menarche (p value = 0,026). Based on r = 0,367, there is a passive relationship between the level of knowledge with menarche.
