Abstract

The primary focus of this research was to explore the pedagogical strategies of English teachers in implementing the Kurikulum Merdeka at MTsN 3 Pekanbaru. A qualitative research methodology was employed to examine these strategies. Data was collected through interviews and observations. The subjects of this study were the English teachers at the school, with two teachers selected through purposive sampling. Despite various challenges, the teachers utilized several pedagogical strategies, including discovery learning, technology integration, project-based learning, and differentiated instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of using short stories on the reading comprehension of eighth-grade students at Junior High School 3 Pintu Gobang Kari. The research was motivated by students' low reading interest and limited reading comprehension skills in English texts. The method used was a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consisted of 22 students from class VIII-1 selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through reading comprehension tests administered before and after the short story-based treatment. The results showed a significant improvement in post-test scores after the treatment. This was supported by a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.032 < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of short stories has a significant positive effect on students’ reading comprehension. Short stories are proven to be an effecttive and enjoyable medium for enhancing students’ reading comprehension.

Abstract

This research was to investigate the significant correlation between students’ scanning technique and their reading comprehension. The design of this research was quantitative research. The total number of population was 120 students which consisted of 4 classes. The researchers took 30 students in one class by using random sampling as the technique for choosing the sample.. In collecting data, researchers used scanning tests and reading comprehension tests. For analyzing the data, researchers used descriptive statistics, simple linear regression analysis and the Pearson product moment correlation formula. Data were analyzed using the SPSS program. Based on the research results, it is known that the average score for scanning techniques is 75.00. while the average students’ reading comprehension score was 80.00. By using simple linear regression analysis via SPSS 23.0, researchers found that there was a low relationship between students' scanning technique and reading comprehension of report text. The categorized as moderate correlation with a coefficient of 0.481.

Abstract

The objectives of the research were to investigate the students` reading comprehension of narrative text taught without using the Context Clues technique, to investigate the students` reading comprehension of narrative text taught by using the Context clues technique, and to determine whether there is a significant difference in the improvement of students` reading comprehension taught using Context Clues Technique and taught without Context Clues Technique at Islamic Senior High School Daarun Nahdhah Thawalib Bangkinang's tenth-grade students. The population of the research was the tenth-grade students of Islamic Senior High School Daarun Nahdhah Thawalib Bangkinang. The classes chosen as the sample were IV A, the experimental class, and IV C, the control class, each of which included 34 students. The researcher employed a pre-test and a post-test to collect data on the student's reading comprehension of narrative text in this research. In addition, there was a large effect of using the Context Clues technique on students` reading comprehension of the narrative text of the tenth-grade students at Islamic Senior High School Daarun Nahdhah Thawalib Bangkinang, the result of Eta Squared was 0.70.

Abstract

The main objectives of this research were to find out whether there is significant difference of the students’ writing skill before being taught by using and after being taught using English Web Blog at SMK Pemdes Ujungbatu. The type of this research was pre experimental design. This research used one group pre-test and posttest design. The writer used one class as sample of the research by using purposive sampling in which the total sample was 18 students chosen from 5 classes as the population of this research. In collecting the data, this research used writing test. While, in analyzing the data, the writer used sample paired t-test as SPSS 25.0. The result of data analyzed showed that the mean score of the students after being taught by using English Web Blog (82.67) was higher that before being taught by using English Web Blog (74.33). It can be concluded that there was a significant difference on students’ writing skill of recount text before and after being taught by using English Web Blog at the tenth grade students of SMK Pemdes Ujungbatu.

Abstract

The study was aimed to examined how the process of the teacher preparation in integrating ICT. The effectiveness of the integrating of information and communication technologies (ICT) in teaching and learning is to the recent educational innovations. Based on the researchers’ initial research, the researcher found the teacher preparation in integrating ICT at junior high school 2 Rambah Samo. Researcher use qualitative research that helps researcher to find out the teacher preparation in integrating ICT. The participants in this study were English teachers at junior high school 2 Rambah Samo. For this study researcher gave questions in the interview transcribed. Finally, the results of the analysis show that the process of the teacher preparation in integrating ICT into innovative English classroom.

Abstract

Cake application is an English learning application that aims to improve student learning activities in English. This application provides speaking, writing, listening, and reading features. There are several features in this application such as watching short movie and practicing speaking by using dialogue. The aimed of this research was to find out whether there is a significant difference of students’ speaking skill between before and after using Cake application at the Eleventh Grade of Senior High School 14 Pekanbaru. The researcher formulated the problems into three research questions that would be answering by using quantitative research. This research was a pre-experimental research. The total population was 422 students. The classes chosen as the sample was XI IPA 7 by using a convenience sampling technique which the total of sample were 36 students’. In collecting the data, the researcher used speaking test to determine students’ speaking skill. In analyzing the data, the researcher used Wilcoxon signed Ranks Test formula calculated by SPSS 23 version. Based on analysis of the t-test formula, the sig. value is 0.000. It could be stated that 0.000 had less value than 0.05, then Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. So it can be concluded that there was a significant difference of students’ speaking skill between before and after using Cake application at the Eleventh Grade of Senior High School 14 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

This research was conducted to know the average score of students‟ reading comprehensio before and after being taught by using Skimming Technique and to examine whether there is a significant effect of Skimming Technique on students‟ reading comprehension. This research was a pre-experimental design with quantitative approach. The population of the research was students of the eleventh grade at SMAN 2 Karimun. By having purposive sampling, the sample was class XI IPS 4 with a total of 30 students. The researcher used reading test in collecting the data. In data analysis, the researcher used non-parametric test. However, the data were interpreted by using Wilcoxon on the SPSS version 26.0 program. The result showed that the mean score of the students after being taught by using Skimming Technique (80.17) was higher than before being taught by using Skimming Technique (53.83). In conclusion, the use of Skimming Technique shows a significant effect on the students' reading comprehension at SMAN 2 Karimun.

Abstract

The Purpose of this research to find out whether or not there is significant effect of using Animation Movies on students’ listening skill in narrative text at State Senior High School 3 Pekanbaru. This research was pre-experimental design. The sample of this research was taken by purposive sampling. The population of this research was eleventh grade at Senior High School 3 Pekanbaru. The techniques of collecting data were multiple choice test. The researcher used statistical method of Non parametric Wilcoxon signed rank t-test by using SPSS Version 23 to analyzed the data. Based on data analysis of Wilcoxon formula. The sig value of Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) 0.000. it could be stated that 0.000<0.05, the value of 0.000 is lower than 0.05, it means null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. While the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. So it can be concluded there is a significant difference of students listening skill in narrative text before and after being taught using animation movies.

Abstract

This research aimed to obtaining the data on students’ ability in writing recount text at Islamic Boarding School Daarun Nahdhah Thawalib Bangkinang. This research is a descriptive study consisting of one variable. The researcher used quantitative research. The subjects of this research were students of class XI at Islamic Boarding School Daarun Nahdhah Thawalib Bangkinang, while the object of this research was the students’ ability in writing recount text. The researcher used cluster sampling to take samples, there were 20 students as a sample of 131 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used a test as an instrument and measure by using composition of writing, then analyze using students’ classification. Based on data analysis, the researcher found that the average score of students in writing recount text was 63.33, the lowest score was 54.16, the highest score was 77.08 and the total score was 1266.60. Based on the students’ average scores, this research means that the students’ ability in writing recount text is categorized into a sufficient level.
