Abstract

Harvesting bananas will produce stems and stump that can be used as an alternative feed. One processing techniques tomaintain the nutritional value is silage. This study aims to determine the content of the fiber fraction ie. Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF), Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF), lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose from bananas waste silage with the composition of the substrate and the different levels of molasses.  Research using a Completely Randomized Design factorial pattern with two replications. Factor A : the composition of the substrate, A1. stumps 100% :  stems 0%; A2. 50% stems : 50% stumps; A3. 0% stumps : 100% stems.  Factor B : the addition of molasses  0%; 2.5% and 5%. Data were analyzed using a completely randomized factorial design, the difference between treatments tested Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed banana waste silage with the composition of the substrate and molasses with different levels have moderate physical qualities and fiber fractions are NDF 57.86-89.63%; ADF 34.44-46.20%; lignin 11.75-17.19%; cellulose 15.10-32.34%; hemicellulose 11.66-55.18%. Silage that contains 100% of banana stem with the addition of 5% molasses is the best result.

Abstract

This study was conducted to find the rate of body weight ideal study Simental cows to produce production and the best quality fresh semen. The material used in this study were 9 males Simental cows were divided into 3 ranges of body weight as a treatment that is P1 = low body weight (822-878 kg), P2 = moderate weight (910-958 kg) and P3 = body weight high  (983-1041 kg). The number of cows in each group of body weight is considered as replicates. The method used was a survey method. The research is designed to completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and weight range 3 replications. Each stud cows housed cement 2 times per week for 12 weeks so that each cow cement accommodated as many as 24 times. Parameters observed in this study is that the volume of fresh cement production of cement per shelter and semen quality bulls include sperm motility and concentration of spermatozoa. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance, followed by Duncan test if there are significant levels of different body weights. The results showed that differences in body weight bulls simental not significant (P>0.05) for fresh semen volume, sperm motility and concentration of spermatozoa. Mean semen volume is best found in the high body weight group, whereas sperm motility and concentration of spermatozoa present in body weight groups were.

Abstract

Rendang telur is one of the Indonesian local foods that were popular in west Sumatra community. Rendang telur is presented in combination egg crackers and dried rendang seasoning. Generally, the main ingredient used in making egg crackers was combination of rice flour and wheat flour. This research was conducted to study the using of sago flour as a main ingredient due to sago had high availability in Riau province and utilization of non rice starch. The aims of this research was to know the chemical properties of Rendang telur that were made by using sago flour. The experimental design was Complete Randomize Design with four treatments and four replications.The treatments were amount of sago flour that were used, consists of A (rice flour 25 g as a control), B (sago flour 25 g), C (sago flour 30 g) and D (sago flour 35 g). Variable analyzed were protein content, moisture content, lipid content, acid value and content of free fatty acid. The result show that the protein content ranged between9.14-6.42% wb, the moisture content ranged between 2.94-2.04%, fat content ranged between 41.01-30.6% wb, acid value andfree fatty acid ranged between 1.70-2.14 mg and 1.09-1.37%, respectively. It can be concluded that sago flour could use asreplacer rice flour if amount added is not more than 30 g based on protein content. An addition of 35 g sago flour could reduce protein content, but non significance effect to moisture content, fat content, acid value and free fatty acid content.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui respon berahi kuda lokal betina yang dipekerjakan menggunakan teknik induksi hormon prostaglandin F2 alfa (PGF2α) secara intramuskular. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 20 ekor kuda betina dengan umur 5-10 tahun yang tidak dalam keadaan bunting atau pada saat fase luteal. Metode singkronisasi estrus dilakukan dengan menginduksi PGF2α (Prostaglandin) dengan dosis 10 mg i.m pada jam 08.00 pagi sebelum ternak kuda dipekerjakan. Pengamatan tingkah laku estrus dilakukan mulai dari satu hari setelah induksi PGF2α sampai munculnya tanda-tanda estrus. Pengamatan tingkah laku estrus dilakukan dengan sistem scoring menurut Colemandan Powell. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis secara deskriptif dan disajikan dalam bentuk rataan dan simpangan baku. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa seluruh ternak kuda yang diinduksi dengan 10 mg i.m PGF2α memperlihatkan gejala estrus, namun tanda estrus sangat bervariasi yaitu scoring 1 sebanyak 1 ekor, scoring 2  sebanyak 3 ekor, scoring 3 sebanyak 8 ekor dan scoring 4  sebanyak 7 ekor dengan rata-rata 3.05 ± 0.88 scoring, dan persentase tertinggi pada scoring 3 yaitu 40% dan scoring 4 hanya 35%. Apabila dilihat dari hari mulai meresponya ternak kuda setelah diinduksi hormon PGF2α tergolong cepat yaitu pada 4.25 ± 1.01 hari.

Abstract

Pertambahan penduduk akan berdampak kepada kebutuhan manusia yang semakin meningkat sehingga terjadi persaingan kebutuhan bahan makanan untuk ransum ternak maupun makanan manusia.  Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan usaha-usaha untuk mencari bahan-bahan ransum yang mudah didapat, dalam jumlah yang cukup, memiliki kandungan gizi yang cukup untuk kebutuhan ternak dan tidak bersaing dengan kebutuhan manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat performans ayam broiler yang diberi tambahan tepung keong mas dalam ransum standar pada fase starter.  Performans yang diamati meliputi konsumsi ransum, konversi ransum, dan pertambahan berat badan.  Sampel yang digunakan adalah 60 ekor DOC (Day Old Chicken) strain Loughmann MB 202 dengan pemeliharaan selama 14 hari.  Menggunakan ransum standar komersil.  Penelitian ini menggunakan 3 perlakuan yaitu ransum standar + 0% tepung keong mas (kontrol), ransum standar + 2% tepung keong mas, dan ransum standar + 4% tepung keong mas dengan air minum masing-masing diberikan secara ad libitum. Data yang diperoleh diolah menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan.  Setiap ulangan terdiri dari 5 ekor ayam broiler.  Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penambahan tepung keong mas dalam ransum standar sampai taraf 4% berpengaruh sangat nyata (P < 0,01) terhadap konsumsi ransum, pertambahan berat badan, dan angka konversi ransum

Abstract

The aim of this study was to reveal the potency of faecal inoculum added with sugar and urea in the in vitro technique to evaluate some grasses like Penisetum purpureum, rumput kumpeh, Setaria sphacelata dan Imperata cylindrica when compared with the rumen inoculum. The Tilley and Terry technique was applied in this study. The treatments in this experiment were rumen liquid (control), faecal inoculum, faecal inoculum + 2.5% (w/v) sugar, faecal inoculum + 2.5% (w/v) sugar and 2.5% (w/v) urea and faecal inoculum + 2.5% (w/v) urea for treatment A, B, C, D and E respectively. All grass samples were incubated with the treatments. Parameter measured were the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter. Result of these study showed that the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter of the four grasses were significant (P<0.05). Treatment A using rumen liquid was the highest in digestibility of dry matter and organic matter among other treatments.

Abstract

This research aims analyze the effect of inoculum dosage of Pleurotus ostreatus and the length of fermentation on the nutritious content of Azolla. The experimental design used completely randomized design in factorial (3 x 3). The first factor is the inoculum dosage, namely : (D1). 3%, (D2).6% and (D3).9% of substrate weight. The second factor is the length of fermentation, namely : (L7). 7 days, (L14). 14 days and (L21). 21 days. Every treatment is repeated for three time. The data found is scrutinized by mode print and it is followed by distance test of multiple Duncan (Steel and Torrie, 1989). The variables observed in research are dry materials, crude fiber, crude protein, cellulose and lignin. The research on the influence of inoculum dosage and the length of fermentation on dry materials content, crude protein and cellulose had not significant effect (P>0.05). On the other hand, crude fiber,and lignin had significant effect (P<0.01). The inoculum dosage of 9% and the fermentation length of 14 days is the best combination treatment and it can reduce the crude fiber amounting to 48.80%, an increase of crude protein amounting to 39.31% and a decrease of cellulose and lignin amounting to 49.86% and 27.66% respectively.

Abstract

Gelatin is a compound hydrolysis of collagen fibers. The purpose of this research was to determine the influence of concentration of hydrochloric acid (HCl). and soaking time on the bovine hide making toward physical quality gelatin. The materials were bovine hide, hydrochloric acid and  distilled water. Data were statistically analyzed by A Completely Random Design with factorial pattern consist two factors; hydrochloric acid concentration (3% and 5%) and soaking time (4, 8, 12 and 16 hours) with three times replications. Parameters measured were pH, gel strength, yield and viscosity. The result showed that pH,  bloom strogh, yield and viscosity, centipoise (cP) of gelatin was 2.70-4.12, 53,33-185,00 g, 18.04-37.93% and 1.49-1,79, respectively. An interaction between hydrochloric acid and soaking time significantly (P˂0.01) influence in following categories: T pH, gel strength, viscosity and yield. It is conclude that the best combination treatments is  HCl 3% and 12 hours of soaking soaking.

Abstract

The bagasse has potential as an alternative feed for ruminant. However,  though the high of the crude fibre and the very low in the nutritional value make them very limited in using for animal feed. To overcome the problem in order to increase nutritional value was the fermentation technology by the application of the starbio inoculums. The objective of the research was to observe the  nutrition  qualities of the bagasse with aplication of different levels of starbio. The experimental design was  a completely Randomized Design  with 4 treatments i.e. P0 (bagasse + 0% Starbio), P1 (bagasse+ 0.2% starbio), P2 (bagasse+ 0.4% Starbio), P3 (bagasse+ 0.6% Starbio) and each treatment has 5 replication, The parameters measured were pH, dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE) crude fiber (CF), ash and Nitrogen Free Extract (NFE). The results of the research indicated that pH of the  fermentation was very good (3.37-3.67), DM (66.59-68.73%), and CP 1.47-1,97%. However, there was no effect on EE, CF, ashes and NFE. The addition of 0.6% starbio was the best result to increase CP but did not affect on ash content.
