Abstract

One of the problems in the development of ruminants, especially in the dry season is difficult to feed  of quantity and quality. The aim of this research is to study of pH, the number of colonies of Lactic Acid Bacteria, antimicrobial isolated from rice straw silage with the addition of levels of molasses. This research was conducted from Juli until November 2015 at Laboratory of Agrosotology, Feed Industry and Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Science, State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau.. The research method of rice straw silage with the addition of various levels of molasses, isolation of lactic acid bacteria  and  antimicrobial  effect.  The  method  used  to  analyze  pH,  the  number  of  colonies  of  Lactic  Acid  Bacteria,  and antimicrobial effect is exploration by using descriptive analysis. The conclusion that treatment of rice straw silage by adding molasses 9% level pH content, the number of colonies and the antimicrobial effect better than the other treatments.

Abstract

Artificial insemination (AI) is a technique to insert the sperm or semen of bull thawed and processed first into the genital tract of female methods and a special tool called insemination gun, efforts to optimize the management of the cement in order to obtain the quality of cement is optimal to do with the selection of diluent cement. One alternative materials cement diluent is an isotonic solution Commercial (LIK). This study aimed to examine the interaction between the concentration and duration of storage of diluent solution isotonic different to the quality of spermatozoa cow simental. This research was conducted at the Regional Technical Implementation Unit of Artificial Insemination Centres (UPTD BIB) Tuah Sakato, Payakumbuh. In April 2016. This study used a randomized block design (RAK) factorial design to Factor A (Concentration LIK) ie A1 = 100 ml Tris Egg Yolk, A2 = (60 ml) Tris Egg Yolk + (40 ml) LIK, A3 = (55 ml) Tris Egg Yolk + (45 ml) LIK, A4 = (50 ml) Tris Egg Yolk + (50 ml) LIK, and factor B (retention) is B1 = 0 day, B2 = 1, B3 = 2 day, days, B4 = 3 days. Each treatment consists of three replicates. Parameters measured were motility, percentage of survival, abrnormalitas, and MPU. These results indicate that an isotonic solution can be used as an alternative Commercial diluent with the best results on the percentage LIK 40 ml, but the effectiveness of the efficiency of storage use was only on the first day (24 hours).

Abstract

One of the important things in determining the quality of livestock products is feed ingredients. The quality of Poultry products will be influenced by the nutrient intake provided. Tomato reject is one of the special ingredients of a feed because it contains high lycopene. Lycopene is well known as an antioxidant, also it can lower cholesterol content. However, lycopene still in the matrix of tomato tissue and trans-form lycopene what difficult to digest and absorb in the body. So, in this paper presents the extent to which the development of research utilization of tomatoes high lycopene as poultry feed. As well as opening more widely how to increase the value of lycopene tomatoes in poultry products.

Abstract

Local chicken is a chicken typical Dayak native of East Kalimantan Province from Berau District, subdistrict Segah and developed by the Dayak Kenyah and Ga' ai. Typical Dayak good local chicken to be developed as free-range chicken layer. The purpose of this research was to determine the structure and composition of chicken eggs as well as the its typical for evaluating the quality and nutrient content. The study was conducted from December 2010 to April 2011 at Department of Animal Husbandry Faculty of Agriculture, University of Mulawarman. The material observed in this study were 100 local chicken eggs typical Dayak. The parameters observed included: egg weight, egg length, egg width, egg index, egg shell color, egg shell weight, egg shell percentage, weight of egg white/albumen, high egg white/albumen, percentage of egg white/albumen, weight of egg yolk/yolk, yolk height, percentage of egg yolk/yolk, yolk color, hough unit, grade/USDA score, egg hatchability and fertility. These results have shown that the average weight of a typical local chicken eggs was 34.49 ± 4.17 g. In addition, there were 46.86 ± 2.41 mm of egg length, 34.99 ± 2.03 mm of egg width, 1.34 ± 0,07 of egg indices, 5.24 ± 0.98 g of egg shell weight, 15.19 % of egg shell percentage , 14.78 ± 2.39 grams of weight of egg white/albumen, 8.36 ± 1.08 mm of high egg white/albumen, 42.85% of, the percentage of egg white/albumen, 11.7 ± 2.42 g of the egg yolk/yolk, 19.71 ± 1.19 mm of egg yolk egg, 33.92% of the percentage of egg yolk/yolk, 98.17 ± 4.64 Hought unit of yellow dark yellow eggs, 12 score of 8,80% egg hatchability of grade/USDA, and 100% of fertility. Based on the findings, it is concluded that local chickens typical Dayak has a potensial for egg production.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the physico chemical properties of gelatin extracted from spent hen with HCl pretreatment with immersion for 5 and 10 days. With extraction stages E1 temperature (45°C), E2 (65°C), and E3 75°C. Analysis results show there is significant difference (p<0.05) on the strength of bloom, the attribute color (b*has a negative value), and solubility. Respective is in the range ash content 1,10-2,26%, protein (68.91-79.86%), fat (1:10 to 2:26%), moisture (5.0-10.3%) and carbohydrate (10.1-20.84% ) for SCF 5, while the SCF 10. Ash (1.99-2.27%), protein (77.81-80.80%), fat (1:00 to 2:00%), moisture (5.0-7.0%), carbohydrate (9.58-12.60%).

Abstract

The study aimed to know the physical quality of pellets for finisher period added different feces and adhesive matter. The experiment design was randomized complety block design  factorial  (RCBD) with two factors and three replications. The first factor was feces (goat feces, cattle feces, buffalo feces) and the second factor was adhesive matter (tapioca flour, eeg white, sago flour). Physical observation were water content, specific gravity, bulk density, compressed bulk density, angle of repose, and the durability of pellet. The result showed that addition type feces influenced water content, specific gravity, bulk density, compressed bulk density, angle of repose and the durability of pellet form. The result showed that addition adhesive matter influenced bulk density, compressed bulk density, the durability of pellet form.Interaction the addition of cattle feces and different adhesive matter in water content, specific gravity, compressed bulk density, angle of repose and the durability of pellet. Interaction buffalo feces and tapioca flour best quality.

Abstract

Turmeric and garlic phytobiotic contain bioactive substances, each of which has a function as an antifungal. The study aims to determined to test the ability turmeric and garlic phytobiotic pressed fungal colonies in the feed with different storage time. The data were analyzed by a factorial experimental design with 5 treatments 4 replications and 2 repetitions. The first factor types phytobiotic and the second factor was storage duration. R0 = basal ration (without phytobiotic), R1 = basal ration + 0.3% synthetic antifungal, R2 = basal ration + 2.5% turmeric, R3 = basal ration + 5% garlic, R4 = (basal ration + 2.5% turmeric+ 5% garlic. W0, W1, W2 and W3 respectively with storage time 0, 2, 4 and 6 weeks. Samples were taken from each experimental unit homogeneously. The results showed the average fungal colonies of garlic phytobiotic treatment (26.06±44.76 CFUx103/g) in 2-week storage time (25.20±22.52 CFUx103/g) lower than the provision of synthetic preservatives (57.75±52.03 CFUx103/g) and the control treatment (74.87±70.69 CFUx103/g). Fungal colonies increases rapidly with increasing length of time of storage. The conclusion of this study was that the additon of turmeric and garlic phytobiotic capable as an antifungal in feed.

Abstract

Quail eggs is one of the perishable food. If left in the open air at room temperature, the shelf life ranged between 10-14 days. Preservation is one of the way to prolong shelf life which can be done by soaking the eggs in a gelatin solution. The purpose of the study was to know the physical quality of quail egg soaked in gelatin bone chicken feet long with different time of storage. The experimental design of this study was Complete Randomized Design (CRD) factorial pattern 3 x 3 with 5 replications. The first factor was soaking time (0, 30 and 60 minutes) and the second factor was storage time (0, 15 and 30 days). The results showed that there was nos ignificant effect of soaking period (P>0.05) on egg weight, egg white index, yolk index, Haugh units and pH. The longer the storage time, the egg weight, egg white index, yolk index, haugh unit were decreased and the other hand, pH value was increased. Soaking quail eggs in gelatin solution of chicken feet during 30 minutes and storage time for 15 days resulted in pH value almost the same with untreated egg(control).
